  1. O.K. found a soundclip on you tube. Is it all i do ( is think about you ) ? On a cellarfull of motown by the looks of it. Think Stevie Wonder also did a version of this, am i correct? ATB Tony.
  2. Would there be an MP3 of it anywhere ??
  3. And i thought the Holy Grail was something Indiana Jones and the Nazis were competing for in ' Raiders of the Lost Ark ' You know the Holy Covenant and all that. How silly of me !! Christ i hope i don't get a load of bad spirits flying out when i open my record box ha !! You gotta admit though, it was a great film. Keep it clean !!
  4. Eyup Paul, do you have one of those vinyl handbags made out of an old LP ? seen em here on Fremantle market lol. Send you one to go with the skirt if you want ! What title would you like ? Stay soulful mate, hope to see you in OZ again soon. Tony.
  5. Thanks Ken, your a legend in your own bedtime mate lol !! Tone.
  6. So much fantastic stuff coming through, i'm really glad i started this thread. The things you learn form different folks all adds to the reason we are in this scene. Any chance of a clip of this one please? ATB Tony. OZ.
  7. Top sound, alway's loved it. Was huge at Cleethorpes along with loads of other funk style dancers. Got most of them from those day's and might even consider selling them all cos they do sound so damn good. Glad it packed the floor for you. Tony. Perth, W.A.
  8. Hiya Ronnie you ole' dog you !! Milton Bennet is on the Kent, 100 Club 28th anniversary single with the Hesitations on the flip side. Ive got one but sorry mate it ain't for sale. Good luck, someone out there will have one for sale. ATB Tone.
  9. Cheers for that Ken. Great record. Oh and nice to see you are still awake !! How was your weekend ?? ATB Tony. OZ.
  10. Hiya Steve, correct me if i'm wrong here mate, but was'nt the instrumental version of HBTN first played at the Golden Torch ?? I palyed it at our soul night last Friday and they ran onto the floor like flies round a jam pot. Fantastic tune. Tony. OZ.
  11. Yep Paul i even love the instrumental of that track. Probably worth a play today. Fantastic group.
  12. No was'nt really insinuating they were a ' disco group ' it's just that they were placed in that mould due to their hit disco inferno. I reckon a lot of their stuff deserves to be played on our scene today. I have some great singles by them..Rubber Band and the instumental of Hold Back the Night to name just 2 of them. Have been playing some of the 'b' side too..brilliant sounds. I just love the lead singers voice. Tony. OZ.
  13. Yep Baz it really is an incredible record and i am glad someone else on the northern soul scene agrees with me. Maybe it has been overlooked because the Trammps were a disco band but who knows, this record COULD be the next HUGE dancefloor sound in the modern rooms back in the U.K. Hopefully someone like Soul Sam will pick it up and run with it. ATB Tony. OZ.
  14. Yep me too Mike. Get it played mate..you just never know how these things will go as it has probably been overlooked as a disco group. I'm gonna start playing it anyway and see what happens. ATB Tony. OZ.
  15. Thanks for that Paul. ATB Tony.
  16. Not a question of not understanding the concept of what you were doing as i think you will find legally any venue that provides security/ door staff has to have one per 100 punters. That's a pretty standard insurance/licencing board requirement these day's. Imagine 50 drunks trying to gate crash a gig late at night with just one guy on the door. Yep you might say well the punters will sort it BUT the law does'nt respect that cos the punters ain't allowed to manhandle people, even if they are being bloody nuicances. Law suits will follow and it's usually the innocent that suffers. Best to check with any venue before you arrange to put a night on otherwise it could be costly. Better safe than sorry.
  17. Been playing some of the Trammps records, mainly on Buddah and came across a nice mid tempo modern dancer titled Trusting Heart on the orange CBS label from 1974. It sounds like Barry White doing some over talking during the song. Anyone know who they were and if in fact B W did perform with them before he passed away?? I was surprised to see them on the cbs label and love this particular track. I'm gonna stick my neck out now and say it would'nt go amiss in today's modern rooms, great dancer. Any info appreciated thanks. Tony. OZ.
  18. Oh dear have i got under your lily white Pommy skin YET again Ken ?? You defo need to get some quality sleep cos your getting ( or have you alway's been ) very negative. We really must stop meeting like this.Crikey talk about putting the cat among the pigeons. I merely asked if the record had been overlooked, NOT to start world war 3 over whether it was liked or approved of. And who's to say any of you are the world's authority on soul music. I have certainly never regarded myself as any sort of expert, just someone who is enthusiastic about the scene as a WHOLE and who IS prepared to move forward. Some of you need to get a life for gawds sake. Snow for brains !!!!!!! certainly comes to mind. Look out ! I have my gloves ready to put on.
  19. EXACTLY... glad someone has a brain !!
  20. I have a very nice copy of this for sale. I originally purchased it from Steve Jeffries and have played it once in the freestyle room at Rugby last year, went down really well. Price 300 pounds including postage anywhere. Paypal O.K. if sent as a gift please. P.M. me if interested, thanks for looking. Tony. OZ.
  21. Yep at the moment there is but i hope to live for another 1000 weeks at least so what then ?? Plus the parcelling up and posting would really piss my kids off. Any bets on who of the main dealers will still be around to sell stuff for us ? Will their kids want to take over from them ? Might be a good business venture for some up and coming 20 year old. No probs sourcing the stock to sell, just a place big enough to store it all. Look out Mums and Dads your garages are gonna be crammed full of vinyl. Oh well over to you. ATB Tony. OZ.
  22. My two boy's who live in the U.K. have no interest in the Soul scene and have threatened to use my vinyl as frizbies lol. Hope they were only joking as you can imagine the horror of Al Williams hitting the dirt !! Seriously though my wife is really into the whole shebang so she knows to send all my top numbers to Manship ( that's assuming he outlives me ). On that note it's not just us that are getting older, the dealers out there are in the same boat so we should be putting more thought as to WHO will be left to sell the montain of vinyl on our families behalf. Now that does pose a question does'nt it ?? Probably worth starting a completely new thread to discuss the matter eh ? You comments appreciated. ATB Tony T BONE. OZ.
  23. Well i have'nt placed a bid yet and not sure if i'm even gonna to be honest. Looking through Manships guide of 2 years ago i see most of the Magnetics records are worth around 3 to 4000 pounds, well in his valuation scale they are. Just what is it that makes these so expensive ?? Rarity or simply because they sound so damn good. Who has copies of these and play's them out ? Are we talking rarity in the same way as Lester Tipton or Don Gardner? Hopefully Pete or Phil can answer that one for me. ATB Tony. OZ.
  24. Got 2 really nice Stevie Wonder 45's on yellow and brown Tamla for sale. Both are in near mint condition. Titles are. Nothings too good for my baby Ain't that asking for trouble. Price 15 pounds each including postage anywhere, or 25 for the pair. Payment via paypal as a gift please to suantone@southwest.com.au P.M. me if you want them. Thanks for looking. Tony. OZ.
  25. Well as a test press it more than likely is a ' one off '. As for my opinion that it's perfect for today's scene that is purely based on the fact that it ain't a 100 mile an hour killer that 99 percent of people could'nt move to. Why would it be ' left in the past ' as you say?? It's no different to any other record of the same era. Anyway Jocko the thread was'nt to discuss it's merits as a dance record, i merely wanted to find out a bit more about it's origin, merely out of interest as i had never heard it played before. Nuff said i think. End of thread. T BONE.
