  1. Would'nt we all love to be able to spin like the black guy dressed in baggies and a black and yellow striped tee shirt in the Wigan footage. Cartwheel, splits then up and into it, around about 8 times. Brilliant ! Now he could spin and he wore moccasin slippers for fecks sake !! What was his name and is he still on the scene today ??
  2. Bloody eck Andy i was pretty famous in me younger day's on 2 wheels..... LOOK NO FURTHER MATE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL. Tone the bone. XX
  3. Look out for the Tony Manero / Los Fulanos version of Bobby Valentin ' use it before you lose it ' on Vampi. Bloody brilliant !! should get one for about 25 pounds or less. It has the instrumental on the flip.
  4. Hey MARK, How about Linda Jones, you hit me like T.N.T. on blue cat. 150 mph and used to fill the floor at the Palais alldayers in Nottingham 1975. Still love it today, but me legs don't lol.
  5. If by your handle you live in Norwich then why not look at setting up something closer to home, say one of the seaside towns ( but not Skeggy as they already have the Tamla bar ). Rents etc. are gonna be a fraction of London prices and you will at least get the holidaymakers. Hopefully you can make enough money during the Summer months to spend your winters in sunnier climates. Sounds like you already have the credentials to get it up and running. If you ever visit Nottingham i suggest you go and have a look at the Soulville Steak House. Great place, brilliant food and plenty of memorabilia to look at and a FREE jukebox crammed with Motown and Northern, PLUS it's alway's packed out. Good luck anywway mate. Stay soulful. ATB Tony. OZ. ( ex Peterborough )
  6. Check out the Nicholas brothers on you tube. Fantastic dancing brothers from black America in the 30's and 40's. Now they could dance. Would love to have em back to dance to something like ' You just don't know '. There are a lot of northern style moves in there even back in them day's. Imagine having them at Wigan in 1974 ???
  7. Hallowed ground indeed Chris.
  8. Anyone please put a title and artist to a tune, it's got little young lovers and pigtails so long in the vocals. Nice mid-tempo and i would like to buy one. Thanks for looking. Tony. OZ.
  9. Yep and i stole it back 4 years later to get married, still looked a right twat. Already given her one for you Andy ( a kiss that is mate ) See you in September.
  10. TOP SOUND FOR ME WOULD HAVE TO BE LARRY DAVIS, I'VE BEEN HURT SO MANY TIMES. GREAT TUNE, STILL SOUNDS GOOD TODAY. Tony. OZ.
  11. Ayup Bill, yep mate your dead right, i went and took a look at the old place last year when i was in the U.K. and the small room on the side has aleady gone. Fantastic room, fist time i saw dancers performing to Northern ( i did'nt know it then ) and it got me hooked. That was on a Tuesday night and Gary Spencer was spining the tunes. There i was dressed in a burgundy pin striped 3 piece suit, brown and white stack shoes and a stair carpet tie looking like a right twat sitting at the back of the room. Next day the suit went in the bin, went to Derby market and got mesen a pair of baggies and the rest is history. Had some memorable nights at the old Wirrina, speshly when they were in the gymnasium. Bloody brilliant !! Hope to catch up with you at Skeggy in September. Stay soulful me ole' mate. Tony T Bone Edgley, the Stanground flyer.
  12. I have a spare copy of this fabulous Latin dancer for sale. Same tune as Bobby Valentin ( which would cost 250 pounds ) if you could find one. Sung by Tony Manero with backing by Los Fulanos. Condition is mint, the labels are reversed as on the few copies i have seen. I spun this at Prestatyn in March and it went down a storm. I think it was also spun at Stafford recently by Dave Thorley. Sounds fantastic and great to dance to. It has the instumental on the other side. It's sure to go big if enough copies are found and get played so the price will go up. I am asking just 25 pounds plus postage ( usually 3 pounds ) paid as a gift via paypal please. P.M. me if you would like it, thanks for looking. Tony. OZ.

  14. Hiya Sean, I have a nice lilac / purple Action 45 of Buster Pearson, pretty woman. Where did that originate from ?? Apparently was one of Max Millward's fave tunes ( R.I.P. ) Tony.
  15. Anyone got a copy of Kirk Franklin "Looking for you" they want to part with, I see I just missed one last month PM me please with price, condition and postage to OZ Thanks Sue
  16. As i've said before IMO the film/doco was never meant to appeal to us 'old soulies ' for want of a better word. It's meant to stimulate a hidden interest in the younger generation. A bit like trying to get someone who has smoked 20 embassy a day for 30 years to all of a sudden expect them to like red bull flavoured fags. It just ain't gonna happen. Tony ( an old soulie ) OZ.
  17. Anyone please help with this one ?? It's not rare or expensive so there should be a few out there. Prefer at least vg++ to mint minus. P.M. me with condition and price to OZ. Thanks in advance, Tony. GOT THIS ONE SORTED THANKS GUY'S
  18. Would anyone be able to help with a copy of this on Thelma. I would prefer at least vg++ to mint minus. If you can help, please p.m. me with a price including postage to OZ. Thanks in advance. Tony. GOT THIS ONE SORTED THANKS GUY'S.
  19. I am relisting this due to non payment from a previous buyer and at a reduced price of 38 pounds including postage anywhere. Payment as a gift please. P.M. me if you want a minter. Thanks for looking. Tony. OZ. NOW SOLD.
  20. Yes Paul, but isn't it a film/doco about ' THE WAY WE WERE ' not the way we are today ?? IMO it is aimed at the young folk of today that were'nt there over 30 years ago. It was never gonna be 100% correct for ' old soulies ', pardon the expression so let's hope thousands of bored teenagers go and see the film, realise there are other things than grafiti marking, beating up old ladies and nicking anything that does'nt move AND are inspired enough to want to be a part of the REAL THING that's happening all over the U.K. every weekend, bar none !! oh and most weekends here too. There have been comments on the ' break dancing ' moves. We did'nt see them in the old day's but most of the young guy's on the scene today ARE doing those exact moves AND winning dance competitions at Northern Soul events. No-one say's ' they can't do that ' cos they ain't original moves and should be kept to break/street dancing do they ?? I for one am looking forward to seeing the film, with an open mind.
  21. I am still looking for this if anyone can help please. Prefer one in very nice condition. One just went on ebay for 317 U.S. dollars. I am prepared to pay 400 dollars for the right one. If you have one and will part with it for 400 dollars please p.m. me. Thanks for looking. Tony. OZ.
  22. Well said that girl. C'mon guy's lets not get carried away here, at least someone took the gamble to make a drama/film. It was never gonna please everyone and it was certainly never gonna be 100% correct ( in some peoples eyes ). Others have tried in the past and to some degree their effort was worthwhile. I for one can see why they wanted Russ to be involved and whether he is liked or dis-liked among today's soul crowd HE was responsible for setting up the greatest allnighters and we were all happy to go along then inspite of some of the music played there. So let's embrace something that might just be the saviour of this truly wonderful scene we love so much cos without a newer and younger crowd it WILL die along with us and there defo ain't anything happening even in soul heaven. I have only seen the small clip on you tube but first impressions are ' we did all act like that at 17 '. Remember, halo's are for angels, not the average punter that just wants a damn good night out. Hopefully this film will re-activate a passion in the youngsters who ' want something different ' to the usual drivel they are subjected to nowaday's. As Churchill once said ' never have we owed so much to so few '. Spread the Faith. Tony T Bone OZ.
  23. Got mine ordered. Gonna give it a thrashin' here in OZ.
  24. Still looking for this 45. If you have one and are interested in parting with it I AM WILLING TO PAY ABOVE MANSHIPS GUIDE PRICE for the right copy. Please p.m. me if you can help. Thanks in advance, Tony. OZ.
  25. AGREED, IT'S CALLED REVERSE PSYCOLOGY. REMEMBER IT'S ONLY DEAD FISH THAT GO WITH THE FLOW. STAY SOULFUL.
