  8. Yep a real nice sleeve that. But if you want Use it before you lose it, WHY would you pay well, well over the actual worth for a Bobby Valentin when you can get Tony Maneros version ( credited to B.V. ) for no more than 25 pounds. O.K. it was pressed in 2008 but it's as original as B.V. I spun my copy at Prestatyn and no-one knew the difference. Spose the purists will be on my back in reply to this but for crying out loud 1000 POUNDS ???????????????????????? i have 2 spare copies of the T.M. version if anyone is interested. Just go to refosoul to hear it. Then make your own mind up.
  9. Maybe the manager went to Wigan and was remembering when he had to nick his gear and what superdrugs they were in them day's.
  10. Just been given a dvd with this very interesting BBC doco titled ' Martin Freeman goes to Motown '. Made to celebrate the labels 50th anniversary i presume this was shown in the U.K. on BBC television but no idea when so someone will hopefully enlighten me on that one. Loved the bit where he goes into peoples records in Detroit and finds himself surrounded by thousands of singles all in marked boxes, even one labelled northern. He seems to have met some people with real credibility from the rollercoaster day's of Motown. Clay Williams formally of Golden World, Sylvia Moy, Duke Fakir H.D.H. and even found Martha Reeves working in an office for the Detroit City Council. Managed to catch up with th 3 remaining members of the Funk Brothers in Bakers Keyboard Lounge in Detroit before jetting off to L.A. and chatting with Chris Clark, who sadly really did'nt seem to make much of herself with Motown. Martin did'nt mention the northern hit ' somethings wrong ' to her and i doubt she would remember cutting the track before ir was consigned to the vaults. Even 3 of the Jackson brothers were on there and it appears the programme was shot before M.J. passed away. I have to say i found the whole thing really interesting. Made me think i really must go and see the place before i cark it. Has anyone seen it and what did you think of it ?? Does the BBC make a lot of these type of programmes ?? Apologies if this has already been on S.S. Tony. OZ.
  11. Dead right there Macca. My mate Martin Allpress and Tony DeMarco were there to witness the demolition. Yes just 2 people !!! Anyway he managed to grab me a brick for old times sake. Tony Edgley, Western Australia.
  12. So even if it is a bootleg it might be a rare one after all eh?? Gotta say i have never seen a one sided record form that era. Beats me why they would have done it like that. Oh well i will keep hold of it rather than consign it to the trash bin. Tony.
  13. Hiya Pete, I thought you might shed some light on this one mate. When do you think the one i have was cut? It has a blank white label on the reverse side, it has the grooves but no sound has been recorded onto it. The label on the sound side is printed in red. Hoping you can advise, ATB Tony. OZ.
  14. Hiya Flynny, can you please tell me what the flipside title is as mine just has a plain white label ?? It's o.k. i reckon it must be a boot so not the rare find i thought it might be lol. Tony.
  15. Hiya guy's, would anyone please have any info on this record ? I found it in a small record store, it's in really good condition and play's perfectly but i have never seen one before. The record is single sided with a plain white label on one side. It looks original. The information on the printed label / play side is REMMIX RECORDS, RR-4422-AX , SUSAN COLEMAN THE AGE OF THE WOLF, Marlin Greene, prod. P BALLANGER. Could it be a small run promo ?? It's a really good dancer. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tony. OZ.
  16. Thanks Nige. Hopefully we will see you at the Stoke allnighter NEXT October, Tony has been offered a guest spot for that one. Long way off and I will make sure he introduces me to you this time, cheeky bugger him !! ATB Sue. OZ.

  21. Oh yes Johnny fond memories and all good of those happy day's mate. In fact i was discussing the Wirrina last week while back in the U.K. with my mate Martin Allpress who was resp[onsible for getting me into this wonderful scene of ours and he mentioned the first time I went to the Wirrina and my initiation with northern soul. It was a tuesday night in the small room to the right as you walked in the doors. There I stood in a green suit ( purchased from prince albert ), white stair carpet tie, and white stack shoes looking a right twat watching all my mates, people like Spenna, Smudge et al spinning and backdropping to an awesome beat. That was it, the suit went in the bin the next day and off i went to Derby market that weekend and bought a pair of baggies and a cap teeshirt. As they say ' The rest is history '. Sad to see another icon of our scene disappear though. Sign of the times i suppose. Back in OZ now, hope to catch up soon. Tony T Bone Edgley, ex Stanground. Now spreading the faith down under.
