  1. Oo-err! Only a year behind on this one! A few I don't think have been mentioned: Spooner & The Spoons - Wish You Didn't Have To Go - Fame Luscious 3 - Take Me As I Am - T'Suga Rays JJ Jackson - Let Me Try Again - Magna-Glide Isaac Taylor - I'm Tired Of These Changes - Ronn Carlena Williams - I Won't Be Completely Happy - Veniece Masterfleet - Well (Phase 1) - Sussex Zulema - Just Look What You Have Done - RCA South Shore Commission - Free Man - Wand/Scepter Intrepids - After You've Had Your Fling - Columbia Mighty Tom Cats - Finger In It - Winley Back into hibernation then! Cheers. Tank
  2. Don't post very often so apologies if this rakes over old ground! Keep hearing some good old Soul/Funk stuff popping up at random in the background in some stores. Recently heard Matt Browns' 'Thank You', Ann Sexton 'You Can't Win', Melba Moore 'Standing Right Here', G.S. Herons' 'Bottle' amongst others inter-mingled with the likes of Coldplay and other chart/popular tunes by I've no idea whom!! These were not heard in cool independent fashion emporiums (which I obviously frequent a lot!) who might know about such stuff, but places like TK Maxx, Next etc. Any other unlikely tracks/locations to report? Cheers.
  3. Tonight I been listening in a mellow style to... Love Committee - You Are The One For Me (T-Lectric LP) Leon Haywood - They Don't Make 'Em Like You (CBS LP) Geoffrey Stoner - Brand New Woman / Understanding Love (Ovation LP) Z.Z.Hill - Universal Love (Columbia LP) Johnny Nash - Say It Ain't True (CBS LP) William DeVaughan - You Gave Me A Brand New Start (CD only - omitted from Be Thankful Vinyl LP) Thelma Houston - Nothing Left To Give (UK Mowest LP) Syreeta - What Love Has Joined Together (UK Mowest LP) Not rare. Don't care. Enjoy.
  4. I'll second that Epic. The (K)oncord re-issue LP version sounds like a re-take, but I've never heard the take from the original Brown Door LP either....so?? Still in my top ten Highland Room memories however. Cheers.
  5. May I ask why this record is under discussion? Have a copy somewhere getting dusty, but recall it being worthy of a Russ Meyer soundtrack if nothing else? (You gotta admit it was worth the excuse to attach the pic!) Grrrrrr!!!
  6. Hi Andy & All, Locals will know I moved to London shortly after you started the Rock Foundation, but I did DJ a couple of times (as Phil's photo posts testify!!) Tony P, Rug, Phil, Sid and Danny really did have some top rare sounds back then, but I was really getting into new Modern stuff regardless of value. Phil and I were also in a minority of playing album only tracks (at the time considered strictly un-PC!!) I'd be lying to remember any playlists from the time, but date-line wise I know I was into things like Shirley Brown "I Can't Give You Up" (UK only 45 release-and a freebie from Crip!), Eleanor Mills "Stop Accusing Me" LP, Bobby Womack "Something For My Head" LP, Whispers "One For The Money", Coke Escovedo "Rebirth", Freddie Hughes "Don't You Leave", Teddy Pendergrass "More I Get, More I Want" etc. Also remember the barrackings from Smudge & Lance et al to play Parliament, Brass Construction, Hidden Strength etc. Politics eh? Still abounds now!!!!! Cheers!
