  1. Ah just what we need, another debate For what its worth Rare Soul to me means exactly what Searling described, rare in quality not just quantity, although it just so happens that many of the greats are rare.
  2. Much like your good self Schofield!
  3. Ditto! Great toon too.
  4. Is there anything you don't have Schofield! Thanks Steve, good toon. Surely you remember Piano C Red from the early days too?
  5. For those still wanting to see the trailer you have to view it via Mikes updated post earlier here as its now been removed from the original site.
  6. is it these?
  7. Now thats a memory blast from the early days of my youth! West Hampstead Toon and a Jackmans Community Centre fave via Taffy if I recall. Just a great record. Rather appropriate for us aging Soulies these days, along with 'My Aching Back' Lowell Fulsom
  8. Your right Steve, thats our new Soul club around here isnt it?
  9. I was sensible and waited for the DVD release but like you Schofield (x) I thought it was ok as a film, then i wasn't expecting an in-depth deep socilogical foray into the twilight world of the Rare Soul scene like so many other
  10. I'm not quite sure if they went that far Dave and knowing Saddam Smith as we do I cant see him downgrading any prices lol, but those are Taffs decks in the film too - and they broke down at one stage so - authentic! Taff was telling me they wanted a pic authenticated that it was indeed the record bar at wigan and he was able to do so - considering the arms in the pic with tats were his and the boxes were on the table in front of them now! Priceless. Oh, and not sure if Steve G can be heard muttering "Wheres the Modern" or not hehe
  11. we both have mate, thought I'd slip in a late afternnon witticism, tongue firmly in cheek lol. I have been looking at trailer but can't find any homage to you and I, stood at side of dance floor getting into our 3rd change of shirt whilst moaning loudly about the use of talc
  12. At 22 I would say you were Grandad material at Wigan hence why me and the other 'fillers' at the KGH filming were in the shadows a lot - don't recall that many 50+ soulies at the venues i was at from '78
  13. I look forward to your barbed slagging off of the film shortly then
  14. Thats a rather refreshing fruit based drink Simsy - DOH!
  15. https://www.webberrepresents.com/news/adamhowe/ view it while you can
  16. Christ, thats why my brickwall keeps falling down! And I worked bloody hard getting enough raw material too
  17. Totally agree Steve, the atmosphere was fantastic throughout the whole day (and in the kebab shop after with Elaine!) and I know many were stunned at just how right it all felt. As with all things lets wait and see the film before we pass comment on its merits etc, otherwise its all a bit pointless isn't it. Look at the slaughter and abuse that Daniel Craig took when he was cast as Bond before the film hit the screen - when it did he turned out to be superb and a lot of people had to eat their words and frankly look total knobs!
  18. Ah now theres memory from the early days around here! Jackmans Soul Nites, Westbury Community Centre - Taffy behind the decks, Nick Porter in his brown flared suit (nice!), Toby still able to throw in a backdrop and a load of us giving it shapes (down with the yoot me!) on the dancefloor to this gem.
  19. No problem Winnie, understood that. It just made me laugh when the guy came out and said that there needs to be a clap at XXX min and again at XXX min! I was tempted to whiplash him with my fancy dress (yet strangely attractive) baggies! Picky? Us? Surely you jest sir
  20. I was at the filming of the dancehall scenes Win and I can tell you now there was a collective WTF! when one of the production crew told all of us where the claps need to be! Closely followed by 500 Soulies grinning at one another and going ahead and doing exactly what we've all done over the last 30-40 years. As far as the tongue in cheek comment re researched goes I can confirm that it really has been researched well, even down to stopping filming at various points to confirm if such and such would have happened in 1974/5 etc, fear not it's in very safe hands. Oh and Steve 'Schofield' G and Taffy were also on hand so nuff said!
  21. You think thats rude, I swear Jackie Wilson as it fades out on 'I've Lost You' sings the loving snippet: "I'm gonna kiss you in the morning where the sun don't shine!" - Ooooh er!
  22. I know Elaine and her background and your spot on, no-one need question her credentials because she has the same love and passion for the scene and the music as we all do and if anyone was to make a film we should be grateful its her, a very safe pair of hands. I'm looking forward to what looks set to be the first film that actually gets across some of the passion we all feel for the scene.
  23. Yep have to agree with that, the beat is thumping.
  24. Nice tune but not really worth more than a tenner, at least thats what i paid for mine years ago. Isn't it popular with the Deep Soul fraternity?
  25. This may be a sad truth now I'm heading rapidly towards the 5-0 Phillip, however I'm not silly, I've traded in my bags for a pair of Zoots or Bowies and invested in bicycle clips - no leakage when I'm out spinning!
