  1. This is not a rare record and Pete is right, I have Ska collector friends who have this in their collection and I got mine for less than £30 a few years back, That said, I'm not surprised it's going for stupid money, seems to be the norm these days. Cest la vie, I have it so I'm not bothered - this time :-)
  2. Gary sold up mid-80's and moved on from what i remember. Not sure where he is now thoug. Great DJ, broke many toons
  3. Well Tony, I'd like to take you upstairs and give you the love you deserve, like the man you are, cover you in whipped cream and run around the room in my milkmans uniform screaming 'Tony Is A Big Boy!' with the windows open - or have I misunderstood the meaning of my best offer????
  4. Hi Craig, thanks for the comments and it was a cracking night!! Will chat soon and no you cant have my copy!!! I'll see if I've still got the French guys details on file though. Steve - not being very quiet at the moment are we!!! The front page looks like a hallalujah chorus for you!!! Will be in touch re: more dates soon
  5. Hi mate! Good to see you last Saturday and top toon choice from you. Paid £20 for mine from French boogie dealer, shouldn't be too hard to pick up and slowed down by -2 sounds even better
  6. Great Cd and wonderful tracks. Makes me smile as I think had this been released in the 80's we'd all be going nuts over it but because it's a CD and we are spoilt for choice in terms of quality these days it hardly raises a mention. Oh well...................
  7. Thanks SimonT! Still thinking though, does sound like something????????
  8. Tolbert is the only version I remember mate. Could it be the tape was a speeded up version or similar as I remember getting a tape of someone and 3 tracks were exactly that and I spent years looking for non-existent 45's by 3 groups who didn't exist either. DOH!
  9. Pete S - Isee we both still have a love for the UK issues then mate!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. and who could forget the fantastic 'Doing The Do!'

OH MY GOD!!!!! Happy happy days!!!! There's me (TheBigO) at the front right, next to Rod, with Jenny, my Ex, Pickle, Panda, Ian seabrooke (I think?), Ray and Jo Mahoney, Caroline Reid and Dawn Warren (who had a rather interesting night that night, returning from a 'walk' with a friend with her knickers on the wrong way from when she left!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I don't mind saying, this picture has brought a tear to my eye, so many memories and friends that have faded with time.
  17. We don't charge dealers to sell at the Plinston as the way we see it is they pay their money like everyone else and attract collectors etc, one of whom is me!!!!! Never understood why promotors feel they should be charging for people selling their records but each to their own.
  18. I've known Keb for years and your right Mischief however who is this Ken bloke he always mentions????
  19. Mischief, what exactly are you doing with a white label of Manship???? You pervert!!!!!!!
  20. Good points Christian, the Mike Terry debate has raised it's head a number of times over the years. I'll try and dig that article out (was is Shades Of Soul?) and scan it in for everyone. funny as time slips by how history repeats itself and a whole new generation are asking the very same questions that were asked when I had a thin waistline and could get up from a backdrop
  21. Bloody Hell!!! It looks like an older version of me when I was younger! Time to change trhe aviator!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. Remember reading an interview which I still have somewhere with, I think (not sure), the great Silky Hargraves where he said that he and Mike used to cover for each other on sax on records, so it's not always the great man you hear!!! Also when Popcorn was over I asked him if he was still in contact with him and he said he was but he wasn't really into getting his face out there (to quote) As for being ignored this very debate has been discussed many times on the scene and yes it is criminal that he is not given the credit that he deserves. let's not forget the Pied Piper stuff either.
  23. For me the scene really rediscovered itself and remoulded itself into a new image, more akin to todays scene. The only thing I can't work out is when SteveG introduced the soulful air guitar to the scene!!!! :-))))
  24. Slight problem with ordering direct from Hip-O-select I think - they are not allowed to export to the UK Motown goodies. Not sure but check. By the way I have this, the unissued Vandellas Cd and the Motown Vol 2 Box Set as well and all are must haves!!!!
  25. Nuts! I'm an ill man at the moment but don't worry, I'll have it up (ooh er!!) by Saturday. Second listen - even better!!!!
