  1. My good friend Mr O'Sullivan sent me this one, priceless is the word!!! I think you'll get a 'kick' out of this lovely Jo ladyXXX
  2. No problem Chalky, done that myself loads of times. I'd say give you a good spanking but, well you know :-)
  3. Does no one read posts!!! I thought I'd pointed out it was released under the name of Big Maybelle above - DOH!!! LOL
  4. Will have to check but I think I'm right in thinking that this isn't the Charmers but someone else but the wrong creds went with the 45. Will have a look tomorrow and let you know. Either way a great toon and an old Guy Hennigan (or 'doesn't he look like that bloke out of Frankie Goes To Hollywood' as we used to call him in our Stafford days!!!!) if memory serves right. *** Ok have looked in the files and I was right(ish). The 45 is The Charmers, signed to Laurie records a few months B4 the Chiffons and therefore standing no chance of breaking into the big time, they teamed up with Tony Bruno (and for those who are asking he was the man behind Maxine Browns early hits and an important truck driver turned producer in the Soul world.) The 45 is superb, lead singer Terri sounding as though she'd give you a right good Bitch Slapping whether your a girl or a boy!!!! However, and heres the mix up, those lovely people at Impact records issuedin 1985 an LP with an alt. version credited to Big Maybelle that later turned out to be a different vocal mix on the Charmers and Terri the bruiser. Hence my confusion on these very pages. So, if you've got the Lp its not Big M. but The Charmers and a completely different mix which came out on an Ace CD some years later. Right, hope thats as clear as mud. Continue.
  5. Never fear TheBigO is here - 1 min enjoy https://cdbaby.com/cd/dhalljoates Oh and all the tracks can be previewed
  6. Sold my collection in 1990, regret some of the stuff that went but my tastes have changed over the years and am really into 70's and Modern now so dont really miss them. Besides, for me at least, its always been about the Soul on whatever format is available, be that vinyl, CD, MP3 etc and now with 3 kids life has a funny way of pointing out what is important in life. If you need to sell then do so mate, make copies of the sounds B4 you do, and remember its about the music not the format at the end of the day.
  7. Great clip Pete. I have one of those Night Train progs in the collection somewhere as well so will have a look later and see who is on it. By the way, I am certain I read that our Jackie made a few dates at the Hines Blues Farm in Ohio whose owners weren't afraid to put on those who were comfortable with their gender/sexuality. The book on the place is fantastic with old posters and pics and a must if you dont own it yet!
  8. Yep Keb was on the M people vid and TOTP one glorious evening danicing the shit out of everyone else-bless him. He was also on the disco dancing championship finals as well if memory serves right, certainly made it through as I was there at St Ives when he got through.
  9. I have loads of tapes with the unisued stuff on and have no doubt we haven't even scratched the surface of whats in there. Hp-O-Select's box sets are fantastic and throw up gems every time, as do the Cellar full of Motown Cds and the lovely Jo Wallaces releases as well. Wasn't Angel Doll released on a legit CD? Will scurry into the vault of pleasure that is my music room and see what I can find.
  10. If memory serves right, and looking at pic I think I am right, isn't that one 'Walrus Of Love' in the group, Mr Barry White (drop voice 10 levels for full effect!) *Oooh update! Yes I am in fact right, that IS the Walrus of Love in the group. Just done a quick check through my scrapbook notes and can confirm it is he. Nice.
  11. A big fave of mine for the past few years and you are spot on, a TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON! yet to have its day. To my mind one of the little man's best 45's. Get it now b4 the price goes throught the roof.
  12. Get yourself a portable turntable like my Vestax, that plays 78's. Now thats great news for Ady Croasdale as most of his collection is so ancient they surely must all be on 78!!!!! (Hugs Ady X)
  13. Does it say if the bloke has roses on his piano or tulips on his organ????? Oooh er, shut that door. LOL I have a feeling Sean Chapman will know XXXX
  14. John, are you sure that he hasn't made a boat out of them????? I of course will be checking your auction again and pointing out all the ones that i have up in my attic in quantity etc without obviousy allowing you to peek, you bad man lol
  15. May be a box full but what's the condition? (thats of the vinyl not the box B4 someone beats me to it!!!!) lol
  16. I am somewhat worried if my aviator will cause Sean Chapman to sue me. Advise please!!!!
  17. You know me Steve, I'm the Victor Meldrew of Northern Soul at the moment!!!! Ady, its not a time of the month thing, more like a bleeding year!!!!! I still love the music as much as I have always done it's just that the scene seems to be imploding on itself with pointless arguments like this cropping up frequently. The old days we did have some nasty moments, Wirrena bomb scare for one, but they were few and far between. On the December issue, should have a confirmation this week, waiting for the hall to get back to us and then we are away!!!!!!
  18. Yet another nail in the coffin in the scene I once loved and that is now fast becoming a f***ing joke full of assholes that implement this sort of crap. No wonder its dying. Sad sad day.
  19. Just because you cant read Kenny there's no need to call yourself that, even though its spelt with a U mate and not an A, lol
  20. Mines up for offers, lol, but I have always thought it was a harder one to get your hands on, especially a mint one. (mines a VG++)
  21. Just a note in reply to the emails and phone calls I've been getting to say that the Plinston is taking a break for a few months as I have too much on at the moment at home - new daughter's Naming Day, building work, Family stuff and so on - BUT we wil... 22. Just a note in reply to the emails and phone calls I've been getting to say that the Plinston is taking a break for a few months as I have too much on at the moment at home - new daughter's Naming Day, building work, Family stuff and so on - BUT we will be returning to the the hallowed hall as soon as we can. So no dates planned as of now. (Molly I've lost your email mate - mail me please XX) I am trying to sort a Xmas Party at the local Football Club Function Suite for Dec 1st but will post info on that as and when I have it sorted. See you all later. TheBigO
