  1. Top toon! Me and just about all of us around letchworth/Stevenage brought it off Soul Bowl at the time of release for £10 a copy, think Jacko may have one for sale so if he's reading this maybe he'll drop you a PM to confirm. Ah those were the days, this and Timeless Legend all for under £20! Strangely Gavin I never got a copy of the Wind Chymes which I too wanted at the time. Now these are the sort of things that should be being re-played and like everyone else happy memories of Stafford with this one.
  2. Now thats shuffling Have always had a soft spot for Jazzy toons but tend to lean towards the more Mod style of Jazz (think Kents excellent Mo Mod Jazz series) and have always loved Jazz dancers since seeing the old films of the 30's of the brothers that really blew me away! The old hoofers in 'The Cotton Club' movie deserve a mention (cause God knows I am younger than them and cant move half as well as they do and they're in their 70's!!) Used to frequent a Jazz club in Minnapolis when I was out there crate digging, just a small backroom event, but man those guys and gals could move. Agree with Paul-S in that I am influenced by all things also, soulful grooves across all genres, so nice to see this getting a mention here.
  3. Notice Winnie there wasn't a shirt change in sight, not even one!!!! That would have ruled you and me out mate for a start. FWIW I thought it was good and love Duffy's voice. Pickles spot on as usual
  4. Having been behind a deck with you Jo, oooh er!, I am glad you cant remember the words to songs because if my memory and bleeding eardrums serve correct your voice is a pleasure thats best heard from behind 2ft of double glazing!!! lol
  5. Fab track Jo! Defo Levi so maybe David was going to sing lead and never did? Any truth you've uncovered a track in tribute to your good sef 'Thanks for the mammeries?' lol
  6. Chins up Dave! We think its hanging out with that Ginger one too much thats had this effect on you. Hoping you are back on your feet and visitng us here in the South with tht witty Northern banter soon. All the best - The North Herts 6T's Mafia crew

  8. Is it wrong to ask if you could pop around the house tonight in that outfit Pickes??? Janes out from 8pm
  9. The Spinners also did 'What More ...' unissued track that got released on a vinyl lp in the late 80s
  10. Having attended Little Reg's book launch last night (and what a fantastic night it was, more of that on another posting I am sure) I was somewhat shocked, as were all in attendence, when the Little man, during his speech, 'outed' himself and that other Hemel Godlike DJ Dr Pickles He casually threw into the speech the following statement: So Dr Pickles said to me sit back and relax Reg, your about to get the ride of your life!' Well, to say we were all in awe of his candid admission would be an understatement. The way that the Dr just grinned and smiled his approval only added to the feeling of a special moment we were all witnessing - only broken by the mutterings of the lovely Lou who pointed out that she was still waiting for her ride of a lifetime from the good Dr!!! Reg and Dr Pickles we salute you Genius
  11. Got her after returning from Little Reg's book signing, and how great was she! Been listening to her stuff for a few months now and she is superb, very soulful and with a feel to her voice that few have, very soulful and very emotive. Top woman! Right up there with Ray Lamontagne for sheer class.
  12. Ah yes, he swaying in the wind adding that something extra to the dancing!!! I remember well one of my mates 'indulging' in the charms of a female behind the curtains on the main stage whilst his missus was chatting with Mr Farley not 2 feet away on the decks! Loads of great memories of Morecombe and as has been stated not really given the praise it deserved as it was ceratainly THE venue for 3 years. Mr Gibbons has video tape that would be great to see after all these years as many of the old Firm have now gone sadly. I'll try and scan my pics in, those that I have, and post sometime soon on here.
  13. Not the one I brought back though Taff as you now have that!!! Yep, he had more than 25 as I saw the box some years back whilst going thru the racks. I have a feeling there are quite a lot of these out there.
  14. does this mean we all have to sit around a table and discuss what we think of the merits and the retrospective ramblings of the author? I only ask because if Reg is going to speak about the book we are going to need a lunch, then dinner and probably breakfast after he's finished going on!!!! Reg, sent you an email to follow up on mate
  15. Oi Taff, Reg says you have mine and MrsO tickets for the launch on the 23rd Nov, drop me a text and confirm please.
  16. Mischief you are a genius! Short, damm short but a genius none the less
  17. Sod that Pickles, thats my bloody Plinston posters on your walls!!!! lol. Spoken with Reg tonight and he is CHUFFED so get out there and order it boys and girls
  18. I too DJed at the late great Morecombe allnighters and what a nighter it was, IMHO one of the greats of the 80s and kept the scene going along with the 100 Club, Stafford, Leighton Buzzard, Clifton Hall etc. Where is Shaun now??? I know he took video of the event so that would be good to see after all these years. Top toons as well from Lenny Welch's 'You Picked a Fine Time' and Moody & The Deltas ex Sam Cooke C/U 'Come Clap Your Hands' to Luther etc, ah happy days!
  19. Sent you a PM
  20. Agree withBaz 100% hs to the origin of the term, namely compared to the 70's the 80's were really only around 900 hardcore travelling all over the country, not the lack of venues etcas, because as we can all see above, there were many great clubs at the time.
  21. You failed to mention that also during the 70s Reg was a stand-in for Dave Hill of Slade fame!!! There isn't a nicer bloke on the scene than the dancing dwarf and I have been lucky enough to read several of his chapters over the past few years, usually whilst trying to dance!!!, and have to say that from those brief snippets it looks set to be an excellent read and is told very much from the heart. I have mine on order and urge everyone who says they are into Soul to get a copy for themselves and remind themselves/discover (whichever) of the way it was and still is! Well done Reg, you know MrsO and I are with you all the way on this...now spread the word and lets get Reg all the way to the Booker Prize
  22. There are some blinding toons on this one and lots get better with every play so keep with them. Contours 'Jealousy', great to see it get a legit airing at long last, and what a belting toon that is.
  23. Yep both unreleased
  24. Toon! Right up my street these days and one I've been after for a good few years. My kids come first at the moment so daren't place a bid (oh how times have changed!) but hopefully it will get more spins out!!!
