  1. Usual quality Dave! Love the Arthur toons!
  2. You have a great ear Mike72 Its a toon of quality and from a soundtrack too (Shaft remake with the coolest man alive, Samuel L Jackson)
  3. No Len that was sean Gibbons, Marc was blonde and curly tight hair challenged!!! I will try and post a poic of the Morecombe crew laters!
  4. Adam was certainly pushing the boundaries back then Len and along with Marc Farley at Morecombe Pier (let's never mention the perm!!!) really spun some upfront toons as he still does. We really rated him and he's still one of my fave DJs when it comes to Modern. I shall always associate Kasiff 'Rumours'; Steve Arrington ' Feel So Real' and the first time I heard King Tutt which floored me with the dapper Adam! He's also the man who pointed me in the right direction for R.Kelly 'Up & Outta Here' which to this day remains in my all time top 10.
  5. That was fun, not sure you want to spin it out at a Northern do, although slightly better than some of Levines recent efforts! I liked it but then again my kids do say I have no taste in music and listen to R-Soul music (that old chestnut again)
  6. As usual a top show from Jools and Betty and Bobby both excellent I thought. Echo the sentiments above re Bobby, great to see the great man given the chance to reach a new audience. My 16yr old son was bowled over by Betty and him, which is no easy thing I can tell you! I thought the whole Hootananny was superb, Roland Gift, Dexys, Ruby Turner, The Hives and surprise for me was the little pocker rocket that is Paloma Faith, that girl can belt out a toon too! Nsoul2 is spot on re Betty's book, made me laugh, smile and cry throughout!
  7. Barry,Thats the funniest thing I've read in ages!!! QUALITY
  8. Very sad news, class act and a class decent human being. Thanks for the memories Terry, no ordinary Joe!

    Royal Grooves

Agree with the review above, superb toons and a great compilation as always with all Ace/Kent releases. Having a broad brush when it comes to all things soulful this was right up my leather soled street and a CD I'd highly recommend. Get on the good foot and get this for your player!
  10. Check out the Oslo Soul Experience lads, awesome playlists across the board and a refreshing approach to the music. I know several of the old firm from this side of the pond who have been to the club and have come back raving about the experience. They have a vid on youtube too.
  11. Carms I know that the general soul encyclopaedia that is the walking love god Taff was involved in ensuring everything was just right (even down to the tats at the time!) and considering he is a bit like the forest Gump of Northern Soul - I.E he's been there pretty much for everything, running through all the major clubs and events like a thread- I think we can say that Elaine and the crew have got it well covered. I too noticed that some the actors were exactly like some of the people I knew even down to the mannerisms etc. I am feeling very VERY confident this could be the film that finally does the scene justice.
  12. I'd include the Pied Piper Production crew (Ashford/Chandler et all) too as so many great TOONS to mention
  13. Don't worry Aid there are several of us playing the part of 'old men in the shadows who better not venture out of the darkness' roles :-)) I'm looking forward to the session after the filming stops, been ages since I've stomped the boards at the King Georges! Now, wheres my Brut x
  14. Yep thats right they were later to become Rolls Royce but this wa sthe original line-up of the band before they got signed up and changed name via Motown etc
  15. And as per usual the silver fox that is Steve G (because none of us can spell his last name x) smacks the nail firmly on the head
