  1. Got mine from the legendary David's Bookshop in the 80's and have seen sold it on but didn't notice the Tony mis-spelling at the time

No problem, Dave may have sported doddgy tash and hair in the 80's but his taste in music has always been excellent, Sorry dave

Dave Thorley has a Panic on Bell at £100, topdogrecords.co.uk
  4. As always Dave you get the TOONS in! Some great stuff on the site that only 3 kids and a VERY vigilant wife prevent me from emptying the account BTW Missing Linc Ltd has just gone straight onto the 'sneak it past her when I can' list
  5. Its got a mention in Cineworlds in-house mag of forthcoming films so looks like its going to be in cinemas defo. Just no date but the wait looks like its going to be worth it.
  6. Gutted I wasn't able to stray far from Chez Oppegaard so couldn't see the man in action especially as 'I'll Be Loving You' is in my all time top 3 and still the only 45 that had me wiping the tears away on the dance floor, still does. Class Soulful Toon!
  7. Steve, you should know by now we never smile or have a laff or happiness on these forums DOH!
  8. Its far too late and I think your right Alison, mistaken identity lol Joys of getting old
  9. No, Northern insanity never leaves you, you should know this Alison x Thought it was the film I have, brilliant, and Sharon Jones features in there as well, god love Dap Tone. BTW have a great pic of you and the other half at one of the Plinston MBM events getting jiggy wit it (hey, I'm down with the kids sister) I shall be uploading into the MBM gallery on my page tomorrow so look out for that one. If only I was still doing the trading cards LOL
  10. OMG I pissed myself laughing reading that Ah, memories of Champion The Wonder Horse; The Littlest Hobo and of course the classic White horses have come flooding back to me! On subject of the C/U, I'm afraid it's a a huge pile of dreary dross and certainly not Northern or Soul in any shape or form, and I speak as a lover of Brit Soul!!!! Having said that I've seen similar dirge listed going for equally high prices, at least it will distract from the BBC debate raging elsewhere.
  11. Hi Alison, would that be the documentary film leading up to the launch of his first album? If it is it's fantastic! Truly inspiring given his life experiences.
  12. Your spot on Pete and I did in fact go out last night - will let you all know how that went once I get out of surgery
  13. Agree with you on this Steve, take it as it was and it was OK, we are NEVER going to get a programme that covers the myriad of diversity that the scene is unless it's a 13 week 2 hr series which, as we all know only too well, will still be ripped apart on these forums for missing something, not covering XYZ etc etc. Lifes too bloody short, just enjoy whatever elements of the scene you are into and carry on
  14. All I know is that the US release is Palomar and Marvins wife was Ann Heywood of 'Crook his little finger' fame Boston might have been a bootleg to cater for the Popcorn scene demand as this toon is a classic inn that scene
  15. er, google the term Northern Soul - 50,000,000 plus hits. We anit that underground anymore

Jealous Steve? If I only had known xx
  17. Surprised theres enough room with all the baggies and circle skirts! (joke!) I'll get my hat
  18. Think they still are and yes I was a repeat customer you silver haired fox you x But in my defence I've gone up from my original waist size of 26" for my first pair to my current 33/34", so thats my excuse, I needed to re-order those Bowies and baggies.
  19. Is Channel 4 yoof controller still the genius Stuart Cosgrove? He may be the man to ask given he's more than familar with the scene and still holds a fond place in my heart for his excellent articles and reviews on Northern
  20. Richard & Elaine and still in business I think today selling golf plus4's, lovely guys, nothing too much trouble even when you gave them a detailed breakdown on exactly how many buttons, flaps or fish weights were to be sewn into the bottom of your flares. Now that was customer service (in case your wondering, weights helped your bags get a perfect look whilst spinning outwards)
  21. Caddyshack the film, cult classic, released a dancing Gopher doll as thats' what everyone remembers from the film and when placed next to Ady at the Dome (I think) they had exactly the same shuffling dance style; priceless As for Horace not Ady; was this the first ever 100 Club cover-up then pmsl x
  22. Does Ady still dance like the gopher doll from Caddyshack? I placed it next to him one night at a London 'Do' whilst he was hitting the floor and bugger me they danced one and the same!!!! I still dont think he's forgiven me, if he remembers at all LOL. If you like I still have a pic of Ady in vest, headband and RIGHT ON salute I can mail to you so you can at least prep yourself for future sightings? I'll get my tin hat now!!
  23. Last time I spoke with Elaine she was trying to sort out the distributors from cutting out a major chunk of the film central to the experience, namely the move from youth club to soul night to allnighters, hence the delay. I support her fully, better to have the film as you want it and a little delayed rather than releasing something with all the balls cut off! Not sure if it's going to be a mainstream release or not, who cares! This looks set to be the best film on the subject to date so I'm looking forward to it.
  24. Those were 20 pleat 'Bowies' which most of us around here wore throughout the 80's along with baggies when we felt like it. As is SOOOOOOOO obvious, not because they were cool or fashionable (clearly not) but because they were great to dance in, full stop. Like a threadbare old pair of fave slippers you refuse to get rid of, they just felt right when dancing, much like my 22 year old dancing shoes which are, by my own admission f**ked visually and held together by spit, tape and a prayer! However without them I can't move as freely and I'm too old to break another pair in over 20+ years, lol.
  25. Gave it a 4. As has been said 30 mins to cover the myriad of diversity (thats not the dance group btw) that is the Northern/Modern Soul Scene is never going to be enough and your simply not going to tick everyones boxes and keep all happy. FFS just look at the weekly rants that go on here, it anit going to happen. I got into Northern back in the late 70's and for me one of the biggest things, outside of the music obviously and the friendship etc, was the fact that as long as you loved the music who gave a f**k what you wore! I remember baggies and vests (me for a time) alongside circle skirts, rockabilly's (not Keb lol) skinheads, Mods, the odd Hippy (where is Sid Whitworth now?) soulboys and jazz funkers all in the same venue and none of us went up to the other to have a go about their sartorial elegance. All there for the SOUL! The programme did very well in the time given and if it gets some new blood into the scene then great because we aren't that relevant anymore in the world of Spotify, MP3's and downloads etc. Thought Paul came across very well (loved him spinning in various locations across the world, nice touch) and Elaine was fantastic, summed up that feeling of euphoria on the dancefloor, that collective heartbeat brilliantly.
