  6. Was just reading up this thread [ I know it's 3 years old, it's a slow day ! ], and realised this demo is black and white, and I have a blue and white copy, without the ' promotional copy not for sale ' words, but has the same ' plug side ' words on the ' long and lonely world ' side. I know this is obvious to someone on here, but be great if someone could explain.....or refer me to a previous thread ? Many thanks pete

  11. Huge record in our family - probably my brother's no.1 all-time [ none NS ! ] tune
  12. 'Joe Torquay ' great job again - much appreciated pete
  13. Thought that Eloise Laws was absolutely superb look forward to hearing that out hopefully
  14. I forgot, they even sampled Steve Croppers all time desert island top riff from Sam and Dave's " You don't know like I know", in their, err, ' tribute '. Right, that's me, going for my coat !
  15. Interested in this stuff ! If anyone wants to listen, the music itself covered it [ sampling etc ] brilliantly with an affectionate look back on the 1991 12' by Subsonic 2 called ' Unsung Heroes of Hip Hop ' on Columbia. Witty witty stuff and a great record. Try it out, even if you're just mildly tempted, just a tweeny bit......you might be surprised how cleverly they put it over ! pete
  16. everyone in our family has this as essential listening for many years now ; and it's not just the NS.... hearing Pete Smith type girlie originals [ you know what I mean Pete - meant with real affection ], and USA originals of UK weak covers is always worth listening to agree with all the above, BM comes over as a completely ego - free zone [ unlike many radio djs ], but, would like to think he was aware of this thread and he has a bunch of fans for his show he might not have realised anyone know how that might be done ?
  17. money laundering ?? don't understand
  18. great thread ! love the sax break in Marry Clayton ' I've got my eyes on you ' ; just brilliant whether dancing or dj ing and after the soul night and when you get home, [ or really any bloody time you want/need it ] and def. my desert island disc sax break (please Kirsty), ......Paul Simon ' still crazy after all these years ' if you know it and you think I'm barking - no worries if you don't, give it try pete woof woof
  19. cheers Nev wondered where, when,
  20. ?? where does it ' book at much more '
  21. Woh ! These debates always remind me of one of the abiding strengths of this scene. And maybe what glues it and us all together. ie, we all have wildly different views on individual records, but nevertheless we all ' tend ' to agree on the overall big picture [ ie that ' this music ' is really as good as anything similar in this world ]. Soul Incorporated - just about as good as it gets and as well as the Inticers, probably my 2 all time tunes...... I.M.H.O. [ of course ].
  22. still extremely keen to get one of these if anyone can help pete
  23. Just wanted to write on behalf of Jean and all the family to thank everyone for their kind thoughts and for all the help and support we've had over the last 2 weeks. Well over 100 people turned up to the crematorium and everyone then came for something to eat and drink. Some of us were still there at 11pm when we had to make a run for it before the weather closed in or we wouldn't have got back to Marple Ridge. As this is Soul Source, I'll just mention that the evening send off / wake / celebration of Simon's life probably could not have gone any better. Ginger played a blinding set of Simon's Northern faves and Neil Rushton performed similarly playing a Detroit and Chicago House set, that Simon would have loved. His son Andy and I played a whole mix of Simon's fave dance / indie / soul tunes. At the service, the music played was ; Marvin Gaye - Darling, you're wonderful Tobi Legend - Time will pass you by Mr Fingers - Can you feel it Judy Collins - Since you've asked Barry White - Let the music play Everyone, thanks again. You've been so kind. Pete Lyster
