That may be right [ and the knowledge on this site is daunting to challenge] , but I thought the price had ticked up over the last 12 months since more people discovered the superb b-side ? pete

embarrassing story alert ! A few years ago I was absolutely chuffed when I tracked down a copy of the lp in USA at what was a clearly an under market price and that was mainly because I believed the 2 big 7's were on the lp. I couldn't believe it when it arrived and neither are included . I know the lp is highly prized, but I could just never get into it ; I was just probably pining for the 2 songs I thought were on it and couldn't get over the fact that they weren't . Am I the only bozo who has made this mistake ? Cue a flood of pm's to tell me ' yes ' I imagine . pete

Hi Ady, sorry for the delay in getting back to you ; yes it's got those markings - never noticed before and can barely read them , but they're there. Also stamped [ ink stamp ] promo. I've had a proper look, and I probably exaggerated the thinness, but it's definately thinner than most other vinyl usa 7's I've got and is probable the thinnest . A little bit floppy in fact . [ I'll now stand back and wait for a slew of cheeky one -liners ! ] best pete

Can't do the sound file thingie Ted, but it's a great tune. probably the thinnest vinyl record in my collection - nor exactly like a flexi disc you used to get free stuck on the front of mags, but not a million miles off ; I wonder if because of the way it was pressed it was withdrawn maybe ? pete

spot on Dean Newbury Rob sold me a copy last year / earlier this year, Dr Bird with the centre removed [ how can people do that ? ] but minty condition otherwise . went down a storm at Soul Nights @ Bridgwater last Sat night with 3 separate requests for it pete

That's my recollection too Jerry . In addition - it's my firm memory that his beeb show was [ at least for a time ] at 7-00pm on a Sunday . First 30 mins was soul, including new releases from that week. After 7-30 he went off into more bluesy stuff [ afraid to admit I switched off at that time to race round to meet my mates - we either went to Browns in Stretford above the co-op in davyhulme, or if we had the money we'd go to the blue rooms in Sale ]. Much chat was about what had been played in that half hour . Def remember hearing Jerry Butler ' only the strong survive ' as a new release on uk mercury and having to buy it immediately the following Thursday when it popped up in Whites and Swales in Stretford [ new releases always arrived on the Thursday ]. ditto Carl Carlton and quite a few other uk action.
