  5. Years ago we'd all travel to certain venues because certain djs with particular records were on but since the advent of the reissue (another debate that's been extensively covered) this is no longer the case. Are there still djs who you'd travel to see and why ?
  6. That's just a few newish releases that's been getting plays.
  7. We play stuff like this(especially Rupe) as well as classic 70s and Modern Soul anthems at Soul Spirit in Boston, the next one is on Saturday April 28th.

  9. Yep,totally agree, every man and his dog wants to be dj now and has a box full of cheap boots but they're all the same. You can attend any one of twenty northern soul nights on any given weekend but they're all the same - soulless. The majority of the paying public probably don't care what format the music is played on so long as they can dance but the reissue (boot) is the reason for the ridiculous amount of Soul nights and the declining numbers because everyone is spread too thinly and to get their numbers up certain promoters have taken to changing the music policy to more mainstream soul and pop music.I read a thread that said that Petula Clark was getting a lot of plays, each to their own but it ain't Northern Soul.Folk don't travel so much now because they don't have to but to the detriment of every good dj,promoter and venue although the cream will always rise to the top eventually.
  10. Great list Mark, I'd go for Aretha Wonderful and Joi Cardwell ?
