We are thrilled to announce the line-up for our July Spectacular Summer Party. LISA WOLVERSON + VIC RANGER+ RHYS WEBB! LISA, from Dublin, is returning for the third glorious time, having completely smashed it out of the park on her first two visits. LISA mixes across the board soul, pushes new discoveries with underplayed classics and IS NEVER BORING. In fact, she's always a joy. Many of you will be really excited to hear about the return of VIC, who laid down his headphones in the late Noughties, when fatherhood came calling. VIC was one of the leading DJs on the mod soul scene, particularly known for the club he co-ran in Borough, SHOTGUN which pushed the mod R&S sound into the 21st century! Yes, you heard it right, THE RANGER IS BACK! RHYS is one of the busiest young DJs on the scene at the moment, from HEART OF SOUL in Lewisham to RUMOURS in Stokey, and spots with Keb Darge, Rhys is filling floors right across town and brings a huge amount of energy to the proceedings. Our next party is Thursday 12th September and what a night it promises to be. Basically, it's gonna be BIG FUN. We have two larger than life characters as our special guests. We can’t quite believe it - on 13th June we have an insane line up for a Thursday night at the Ritzy. First up, one of our favourite ever DJs, pure 60s mega tunes from IRISH GREG - from 100 club to the mod scene and northern scene, Greg is simply one of the best and it’s a huge treat to have him back at the Ritzy. And then… the midlands legend PEP!! What can we say, the voice, one of he great purveyors of soul from the original 70s mob, truly one of the big names of Northern. He was there. And now he’s here! Quite how this happened on a Thursday night is beyond us - it must be some sort of administrative error! If you’ve never been to the Ritzy before this is definitely the night to take the plunge. We’re thrilled to announce the May edition of SOUL AT THE RITZY, accompanied by a fresh look (good work, Lisa) and even fresher guest DJs. First up is that lad Shaafi, the genius behind the massive HEART OF SOUL events which have been rammed with South London yout’ since early last year. These down and dirty nights are freshening up the scene and bringing loads of new faces in. As well as being a superb and committed dancer, Shaafi has great OVO tunes and will smashing it behind the decks this month. Next up, we are thrilled to announce Rob Ryan is stepping up for May! Whilst he’s very known in the art world, the SATR crew adore Rob for being one of the most fun, danceable and quality DJs on our scene. (As well as one of the nicest human beings you will ever meet!). Rob was top of our list for our Christmas party, and now he’s returning in time for the good weather for another uplifting, across-the-board rare soul set. In combination with Shaafi, this is going to be a very special night for rare soul lovers who want to DANCE. ***UPDATE*** Hello Ritzy folk! Our April event is a real treat, with two incredibly experienced DJs with mega record collections who love to raise the roof. First up we have Doncaster’s DAVE MACK back at the Ritzy. Usually know for his big rocksteady and ska sets, Dave has a serious Northern collection and his last appearance at the Ritzy went down as one of our best nights ever. Many people open mouthed saying ‘f—k, I didn’t know he had this!’. Heavy northern. And then, as if that’s not enough, we also have DAWN BROWN, one half of the celebrated Scenesville crew, who took over the Notre Dame hall in Leicester Square in the early noughties for those legendary all-nighters. Expect epic tunes, emotions running high. Add to that the fact that the sun may be starting to come out then you’ve got the makings of a brilliant evening. You all know Alan, but what you might not know is that this is his first proper time playing at the Ritzy. **CHRISTMAS SPECIAL 8-2AM** This is the one everyone's talking about - the perfect London soul scene Christmas party, put on by the SOUL AT THE RITZY crew. First of all, the Guv’nor, Mr ADY CROASDELL, Mr 100 Club himself will be gracing the decks. He needs no introduction, of course, but we’re thrilled to have him back at Brixton. Next, we have ADAM BUCHANAN!! To quote the highly respected Soul Underground website: ‘A great taste in music, Adam knew how to work the floor. Adam DJ’ed at all the big all-nighters of the day and as well as Top Dog Soul Club at Stafford he was resident for the Central England Soul Club at venues such as Nottingham Oddfellows in Leicester.’ What’s missing from this incredible list, of course, is CLEETHORPES WEEKENDER where Adam was always a big fixture. It's easy to get to, has a superb sound system, and the other stand out feature is a wonderful large balcony that overlooks Windrush square. The nights are sociable, and you will hear the best across the board soul sounds on original vinyl only. Whilst the monthly events are on a Thursday, we've started to do a few Saturday night events ('SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE RITZY') which allow us to go on until 2am. Mick was one of the key players behind the era-defining LIFELINE nights, runs the amazing Boat House club in Nottingham and the city’s (in)famous soul weekenders. But more than that, Mick has been buying records since the year dot and has broken more massive soul sounds than you’ve had hot dinners. A massive presence on the scene, expect a HUGE set from a big personality – and we should be extra thrilled because none of us can remember when Mick last played London. (Was it the 100 Club? Capitol Soul???) Not to be missed. JOEL MASLIN – You know Joel, 100 Club resident and general cheeky South London urchin – back again at the Ritzy by popular demand. A regular on the decks all over the country, Joel has superb hard to find tunes – and then will surprise you by reactivating a classic. The dance floor’s always full and we are employing extra security to handle his legions of fans. Expect soul, funk, rhythm and soul/R&B and all points in between. AMANDA SULLIVAN – the first woman (we are told) to play at the 100 Club allnighters back in the 80s (we’re told).
