Promoters Booking Events At Other Promoters Venues. Is This Right?
Soulie8 replied to Soulie8's topic in All About the SOUL
Chris Burton had previously commented whilst attending one of the Sunday Soul sessions how well supported and how good the venue was. He should not have even been in contact with the owner. Goldsoul can I take your comments as an assurance that you will be pulling out of running a venue at The Box? Is that correct? If that is the case you have done the decent thing and well done -

Promoters Booking Events At Other Promoters Venues. Is This Right?
Soulie8 replied to Soulie8's topic in All About the SOUL
Why?? The venue is currently being used by soul promoter for his current soul events. What right does a "new" promoter have, to even contact the venue at all. Morally this is wrong!! -
Promoters Booking Events At Other Promoters Venues. Is This Right?
Soulie8 replied to Soulie8's topic in All About the SOUL
Yes Peter there are established and successful soul events already being held at this venue, now another promoter has gone behind his back and booked the venue for an allnighter in March 2015 -
Can someone explain to me where is the etiquette nowadays on the soul scene. I can not understand why a promoter feels the need to go behind existing promoter of a venue, and book and advertise on here forthcoming event in March 2015. Does this promoter have no morals and common decency but just an eye for being greedy or to gain a monopoly of the scene!! The venue currently has an excellent attendance month in month out and has previously run all nighters and New Years Eve events. Is this really on to be so blatant as to try and "muscle" in on other venues because they are already successful. In my day this would never have happened so why is it allowed to happen now? Surely some stance needs to be made on this topic and their current venues should be vetoed with "stay away" and "non attendance"and nobody should attend their venues, until they do the decent thing and cancel and withdraw from the venue, and leave it to the existing promoter!!Your comments would be welcome on this point or is it just going to be allowed to happen!!

Articles: Helen Pereira - Queen Of The Go-Go
Soulie8 replied to Pep's topic in Front Page News & Articles
Hi Ian, It is with great sadness that we write this We were absolutely devastated to hear the sad news of Helen's passing. For so long Helen & you were the faces and kingpins of the soul scene in and around Wolverhampton and even farther a field, providing brilliant venues like, Bretby,The Black Horse, The Connaught,The Stewponey, Emerald Club to name just a few, and without you surely the scene would have disintegated and disappeared. Karen & I respected you both for your total commitment to providing successful soul nights for the enjoyment of the fraternity. I will always remember dancing alongside Helen to " I dont do this"" one of her many favourites and being mesmerised by her dancing. She was an Icon in our eyes and "what you saw was what you got" with Helen, and if you didn't like it "tough" .Thats what we admired & respected Ian & Ryan please accept our heartfelt condolences at this very difficult time, Our thoughts are with you both Brian & Karen Chidley xx -
Something i forgot to mention, we ended up leaving at 3.30am as the whole episode had become a total farce with idiots trying to trying to take the piss, & "dance"(if you can call it that) when they were already finding it hard to stand up!! Spoilt what could have been a brilliant night and venue. Again Memberships the only way forward

I totally agree with with Dave Rimmer, although I have to say the promoters should look at the amount and type of people they pile through the doors just to make a fast buck!! I attended The Torch Reunion at Queens Hall, Burslem 2011 and was absolutely appalled at the amount of people admitted. You could not dance for people piled on the dancefloor with glasses in hand, pissheads everywhere you looked. Obviously they were taking the opportunity of a late piss up, and stood out a mile. Our party had planned this for some time and met up with mates from all over the country as we used to at The Torch in Hose street, and were looking to rekindle old and new memories after all these years. Unfortunately This DID NOT in any way resemble any niter I had ever attended in those days, and to be honest, not many since. But for the sake of the true soulies and the scene, lets have some common sense on who we sell tickets too, and more vetting of clientele on on entry through the doors. Memberships should be obligatory!! If any one is caught on the dancefloor with a pint mug or glass chuck em out and bar them!! only answer!! We will not be attend another Queens Hall, Burslem until the promoter cures the obvious problem.

Just got the sad news of Max's passing, I am absolutely stunned, We spent many a day in his shop in Wednesfield, and like to think we all gained something from a true gentleman, and class act who was still one of the top DJ's on the circuit. His enthusiasm and his knowledge of soul music was unrivalled. I feel very honoured to have been a friend of such a lovely man. We will miss you Max!! R.I.P my friend Deepest sympathy to all his family Brian & Karen Chidley & Jackie Phasey
