  1. Looking for a copy of 5 Wagers - Until I Found You / You're My World - Nation Time PM me if you have a copy for sale
  2. He's been touring with the Temptations for a while now, he was in the line up the toured the UK in the late 80's with David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks. I remember the introductions of each of the group members, and clapping loudest and longest when Nate Evans was introduced. Top night!!
  3. Isley Brothers - Whos' That Lady - United Artists As requested.... here's the original version from 1964. I've played this out at Lifeline to a decent floor reception, it's such a great record, and hard to believe it's that early. This should be getting a lot more DJ attention, it certainly will at the Creative Soul nights. Not that easy to find either, just 3 copies on eBay during the last 12 months.

You're missing this one - The Visitors - I'm In Danger / Until You Came Along - Bashie 9157 Prior to it's release on Dakar 603.

Does your mum know you're still up ? Are you old enough to be on here? It sounds to me like you're describing your school disco. You should leave this to the grown ups.
  6. Yep, the line up changed around some, but the main men Lee Williams. Al Miller and S. Brown were in the De-lite line up as they were with Rapda, Black Circle & Carnival. The stunning Please, Baby, Please is the "A" side of I'll Always Love You -1972 (same year as GFACT) - tune!!

Nope Poets line up was Ronnie Lewis, Melvin Bradford & Paul Fulton. He could have been in the Four Vandals though, both played at the same time, by the same DJ
  8. Pitch it at -2, and it sounds perfect! See ya at Lifeline. BTW as already commented on, the flip is a killer deep/sweet soul tune - did you get a chance to pay it before you moved it on?

Top tune Sean, I used to play this out myself, though she's a a very overlooked lady. There was a plan to compile a Sandra Feva/Richardson CD by those Grapevine boys, I know because I contributed quite a few tracks. Must have been shelved when it all became a bit fragmented.
  10. Completely, and absolutely agree....top of the Lee Williams & Cymbals pile for me too
  11. I'll be the first to confess that I don't know it - any chance you could post it. Pospsike lists it as having sold for $370 in 2004, and I've got a more recent sales list listing it at 100 of our English pounds.

That's the difference Mark - being able to sort the good from the bad in all genres, and in your game mate, the excellent from the average.
  13. Still sounds great to me Kev, I'll dig it out and post ut up tomorrow.

I've always considered you a totally switched on lady that appreciates good soul music, so not suprised at your shameful confession . I'll have a soulful house CD ready for you at Silk on 23rd. It'll be our secret
  15. Hi Shute, Great tune, but I don't think it's ever had real exposure. We used to play it at Detroit Academicals nights back in tha day. T'other side is good too Cliff
  16. Will be listening in - avidly. BTW ok for radio sets at pressthatin.

No, I see you point Pete. It wouldn't, if your idea of a healthy forum is to argue the toss on which flavours of soul music are worthy, and pitch inane comments against the styles you didn't like.

If only.....World peace would be more likely than a total appreciation of all styles of soul music. It's difficult enough to gain a rounded appreciation in a modern soul room when the range of styles spans near on 40 years with playlists moving between crossover and soulful house, and everything in between, and likewise mutterings and discontent echo around the northern rooms which typically play music from only half of this time span. You will never please everyone. In reality there's very few across the board soul fans, most specialise in one or two areas, and that's absolutely fine. I just wish they would keep their uninformed opinions of music styles, outside of their areas to themselves - this forum would be a far better place for it.

    Absolutely brilliant.....
  22. Lust very cheap Brian, not surprised you moved it so quickly - bargain

Yep, it's the difference between buying for quality and buying for rarity. Outside of filling in the odd cheap label or artist number, I can honestly say that I've ever bought a record for the sake of rarity alone. I've also never bought a record solely because it was "in demand". You have to want a record for the quality, (and yeah if you're a collector, you need to have it on original vinyl) otherwise you're just collecting rare labels. It's the rare label collectors that'll give you your three figure sums for crap and tired old "rarities" that sit in sales boxes or get pushed out on sales lists priced at their highest ever value, usually on the basis that it was once an "in-demand" tune, though completely disregarding the complete absence of any recent interest

Demand is fuelled by too many of the 16,486 DJ's on the scene chasing the same records. Easy. ====================================================================== YOUR WRONG MATE 5 MONEY MEN DJ,S ARE CHASING THE UNCHASABLE 25 BARNPOTS ARE CHASING THE NEXT LINE OF UNCHASABLES 50 SOUL FANATIC DJ,S ARE GOING WITHOUT FOOD ,CLOTHING ECT ECT CHASING ANYTHING DIFFERENT IN FACT THEIR CLOTHES ARE THAT OLD THEY,VE COME BACK IN STYLE 1000 DJ,S ARE CHASING RARISH ORIGINALS 15,386 DJ,S ARE CHASING THE SAME TUNES LIKE SAM FLETCHER, SAM DEES ECT

Yep, I'd agree with that call, closely followed in no particular order by Milton Wright & The Terra Shirma Strings, Emannons Orchestra, Steve Karmen Orchestra, and a tune I've not heard out in years RPM Generation's Rona's Theme
