  1. I think you mean that the Northern Scene is less than a Deep Soul Scene with a beat
  2. Well put Soulful Bob, there's soul and then there's Northern soul...........quite a few people get them confused and quite a lot more don't know the difference. Soul content regularly takes second place to tempo for the less discerning amongst us
  3. If we're doing tunes from the same colour label, then we'll need to invite Dave "Posh "Car" Bentley who pioneered yellow label collecting at TOTW......and bagged plenty of great tunes on his theory....
  4. Rob's CD arrived yesterday........nice Thanks for reminding me just how good El Shobey is....time to dust that off for the play box.
  5. Nope, not yet, but ever the optimist me, I even still think I'm gonna receive Val's soon .....fair's fair though, he does live nearly 3 miles from me, and I only see him every weekend
  6. ......and then there's the all time Major Lance classic - "Sycamore, Scyamore"...... Tricky Trev knows all the lyrics to that one
  7. ....that's January to you Sean .......and February to Rob Better get votes in for the theme to give these guys a head start..........how about records you can never find
  8. I've never seen a copy, and it didn't find it's way on to the Blue Rock double CD that Polygram released in '98, though it is listed in Soul Harmony Singles, so maybe Jeff Beckman or Jim Hunt can help.
  9. 'bout bloody time too.......you can see why Sean took so long, obviously reluctant to preview his novel until he'd secure a publishing deal ... top CD though.........worth the wait Adam's CD next on the list for a listen...
  10. You''ve gotta be desperate to feel you need this in your set............f***ing dire. Agree with the comments about tempo seeming to be more important than quality in some areas, kind of joins up with Mike's LCD post of a few days back.
  11. Having cleared my conscience by getting all of my CDs in the mail, I can afford to set some quality time aside this weekend to give your CDs a good listen..... The track listings look like I'm in for some great listening
  12. Really looking forward to getting this - top selection by the looks of it, and Carla Thomas, what a tune, I've just picked one up, so it didn't fit my criteria of lifetime favourites.....but it will next week.
  13. So James, you still persist in demomstrating what a complete arse you are. I don't need a lesson in diction, so try to use your time better to understand that there are 1,000's of great records instead of continually ramming your opinon at every opportunity and trying, but regularly failing to be smart with it. KGF great sides, but not some the best ever or even close. As I said it's a matter of perspective, I suggest you build one.
  14. Easy to record from the samples on myspace, next step - place order with vinyl carvers
  15. KGF tracks are really great tunes ............but best thing ever ...........not by a long shot ....your listening history would have to be pretty limited to make that kind of call.......and if I heard the same track 3 times in an hour I wouldn't be impressed Need to get things in perspective I think
  16. That'll be the re-issue
  17. Sounds good to me Sean On reflection my thought for the CD theme was flawed ........whilst rumaging through shelves and boxes it dawned on me that quite a lot of my "couldn't live without" records are not exactly unknown. I couldn't live without Robert Parker "Caught You In A Lie" or Betty Everett "Getting Mighty Crowded" ...but I wouldn't include them on the CD
  18. E-mailed ya
  19. Already there Baz, I posted it a while back
  20. Played a CD at Lifeline last night Never had time for rule books Mary Gresham............gotta be heard Why would you feel it necessary to press 12's of a CD only track - I don't get it
  21. Getting a lot of interest now, so expect to pay 100-150. Well worth it though, two top quality soul sides.
  22. Hiya Bully, Good to see ya last night....... You had me going on the Visitors line up, especially the involvement of Eugene Smiley and Mel Britt, 'cos that didn't sound right.........I know I was rambling on about the Visitors being pretty much the same line up as the Exits - we were both kind of right. Two groups - Chicago and LA. The Tangerine group line up was fronted by Godoy Colbert, and included James Nelson, Esko Wallace and Robert Taylor.........all good Leonoard Jewell Smith fellahs. The Chicago group as you've said, but they don't take the credit for "My Love Is Ready And Waiting", that belongs to Godoy Colbert and his mates.
  23. No, best not to mention it...........I remember it well Nick last heard of trading dodgy Middle Eastern carpets..........heven't seen him in years though
