  3. I thought he'd sold up...
  4. Just had a call from Dev's uncle ......can anyone let him have some mp3's for the shop doorbell ??
  5. Best laugh on Soul Source..... .... I was kinda hoping that Emily would fetch her box in after Lloydy cleared off....
  6. The Gabin 12" has disappeared....you had to catch it as a new release....otherwise it's quite a tough one to find now............ The remixed Nina Simone should still be available though....it's on Verve Remixed 4 on Blue Note CD and vinyl album....try Fish at Simply Soul, Juno or Crazybeat....if not in stock....they should still be able to order for you....
  7. ....that's the way it should be....you're a credit to charity promoters.. Doesn't Gary Churm always DJ for free....just kidding.....
  8. Just trying to lighten things up.....'twas getting a bit heavy...
  9. I would think there's a very distinct possibly it's deleted....probably since 1968....
  10. My view is that anyone that goes to the effort of organising a charity event should want to shout about how much they raised and donated for charity. That would certainly help and encourage promoters and punters to organise and attend for the cause. There should be no need to ask questions, promoters need to be be upfront and volunteer the information......
  11. Ditto.... ... I don't believe that anyone's suggesting that all that go to the very commenadble effort of organising a charity event are less than honest......just that some are a little dubious...and maybe if there was more transparency in the funds donated then perhaps there would be less cynacism.....that's all...
  12. ...each to their own.....make sure you chuck it in the direction of someone that understands soul music....
  13. I DJ'd at a night in Peterborough a few years back....Adam Buchannan told me that is was an across the board night, so I thought ok, and took a mix of rarer 60's, crossover and modern tunes.. You know how you get a feeling that maybe this just doesn't look right....the car park full of Vespas and Lambrettas was a bit of a signal that maybe I should have picked up, but no....benefit of the doubt and all that. I followed a guy that played very, very obvious Motown...all the time thinking I should get my coat. Almost cleared the floor with the first couple of tunes, and then it was total empty space for the third and fourth..One of the punters who didn't seem too impressed with what I'd played so far came upto the decks to give me some helpful advice...."It's a Motown night mate....have you got The Snake...Edwin Starr ? .....err no....and it's by Al Wilson....not Edwin Starr ok then.....have you got anything else on Trojan ?? I decided not to mention that Edwin Starr didn't actually record on Trojan......and spent the longest hour behind decks in my life...
  14. It's been on my wants list for so long that I've forgotten what it sounds like........
  15. I'll dig it out and post it on refosoul tomorrow..... Amazing that these guys also recorded as Walter & The Admirations, High Society and Velvet Hammer.... as Boba found out...nice piece of detective work.....
  16. Missed that one.....I was lurking on the Pam Bowie...
  17. You mean the Pam Bowie..... ....no, that's from Chicago. .....absolutely awesome IMO..... Is it the same label Paul ??
  18. Nice clean copy for a good home please.... PM with price and condition. Ta...
  19. So it's "bang out of order" to hand out a few CDs gratis at a soul night, but perfectly ok to commercially sell 1000's without licernsing and fair dues to the recording artsists; licensees and publishers.....talk about kettle and pot.....it's politicians and duck houses again...
  20. Craig Moerer's asking silly money for his copy....I'm sick to death of seeing it on eBay...Buy It Now... 400-500 is about right IMO...
  21. I'd only get involved in a charity event with someone that I knew well and trusted....there are chancers out there that promote under the guise of charity with less moral values than politicians with duck houses....
  22. I'm with these guys....we should all do our bit for charriddy...

  24. It's too close to call on Donny Mann vs Lovelites....both are perfect.. Flip to Donny's 45 is The Girl Next Door....a more uptempo tune....not in the same league IMO, I'm afraid....not one of Johnny Cameron's better sides...
