  1. Sorry Ian, it's not a patch on the Volcanos, and it's certainly not a contemporary '60's recording. This track didn't make the Change of Season album which was mid 80's.
  2. It was issued on both vinyl and styrene, and also booted on styrene. If I remember correctly the styrene boot has a lighter shaded label, which is usually creased through poor manufacture. I know this is not much help for your existing copy, but you're guaranteed an original copy with significantly beter playing quality if you aim for vinyl. Most styrene 45s end up with needle burn over time.
  3. Pete, each to their own.... It's bloody awful as a SOUL record, but obviously there's dance floor appeal......... Though back on thread, I don't understand how it can still command a 5k price tag...
  4. Nice find Barry.... that's a bit special.. Shame it's so brief...he was just getting into it when he walked off, but from the brief clip you can tell he still has a great voice... He must have still been at school when he recorded it
  5. I'd pay good money to see that, but more if "Just To Keep You Satisfied" was on the list.......their best recording IMHO..
  6. It looks like a whole lot of Ernest Kelley master tapes...very interesting...and just listening to the sample, there's some obvious finished and released tracks in there including Mike Jemison, Sandra Richards and Priscilla Price. It'll be very interesting to know where thes turn up, and whether there'll be any unissued material released in the future.
  7. Great story Dave..... I used to be out in Bangkok on business regularly......if only I'd have know back then....
  8. It's very quite on this, so here's a label scan to prompt some input.....
  9. It's always been around in quantity, so you should be able to pick one up quite easily for 10-15 quid....
  10. Never seen for sale, and there's only one copy listed on Popsike.... Thoughts on today's value would be appreciated.....ta...

    Absolutely brilliant.....
  12. He who hesitates and all that.................
  13. Yeah, but Steve's a complete looney...
  14. The Village Soul Choir - Sweet Hot Lips - N.Y.C Street Sound 12" Excellent condition ** Gone to a very good home ** In demand, killer modern soul tune PM me for details, scan, sound clip and payment details.....
  15. Amazing that you really don't see any wrong in that....no, you go on all your hard work, you deserve it....why should the artist and the production team get any recognition.....you really are the limit.... Almost as hard to believe as the fact you'd rather sell your mates c/u carvers than direct them to CD Baby...unreal..
  16. Hi Adam, Firstly, I only know the track because Beeks claimed it as his cover up and then got all upset and had a hissy fit because a few found out what it was. I didn't know that anyone else was playing it, and how would I ? Secondly, and let's talk about respect....what kind of guy finds (or claims to, if Russ beat him to it) a CD track, covers it up, and then offers to sell carvers from it. I couldn't care less whether it's rock'n' roll or soul....it's just plain wrong. And finally, don't you think you're taking this all a bit too seriously.... Don't suppose you want that CD I owe you now then......
  17. .....and so you should be Steve.........very glad to say this isn't in my hot box (or should I say hot CD wallet)..
  18. Agree with you on the flip Mike..it's pretty special. I thought they might be the re-formed 50's group, but none of the Era credits match the 50's line-up. The Soul Harmony only lists Jimmy & The Spartans on Satellite, but no group line up credits...likely it's a different group.
  19. "Top" "DJ" rock 'n' roll c/u......Ruby Ramirez....."Shorty something or other....." "Little Man" https://www.cdbaby.com/cd/littlerachel2
  20. Quite possibly Ted...............ahead of my time again..........
  21. Come on Ted, catch up......I used to play it Albrighton......
  22. The going rate for a Spartans is around 300-350......it's definitely a tough record to find, ask John Anderson. I saw him pay 300+ for it a few years back at Essence, and I think he knows about rarity and value. The flip also makes it collectable by the group and deep soul guys.
  23. Lou Pride...........that narrows it down a bit.... Proper soul..... ....got well hammered at Prestatyn too...
  24. You'll need to narrow it down a bit Mark ..........plenty of great soul tunes from 2002.. Have you got an audio clip .... ?
  25. Another mixed bag of across the board soul, and more bargains to be bagged. Most of the 45s listed I'm selling for a mate, and so not an awful lot of room for price haggling, especially on the rarer items, though offers may be considered.... Usual deal on condition grading - all graded as VG++ are in great condition, not the usual beaten up quality that VG++ usually gets you from eBay... PM to reserve or request sound files, information etc. Toni and The Showmen - Try My Love - Ten Star Ex 350 Great uptempo soul made for the dance floor.... Life - Tell Me Why - Reprise Ex slight warp, plays perfectly 125 Great 70's soul picking up revival spins....so rare on a stock copy.. Diane Lewis - Without Your Love / Giving Up Your Love - Wand DJ VG+ 200 Fantastic Detroit soul double sider, and one of the rarer Wand 45s.. Johnny Robinson - Gone But Not Forgotten - OKeh WD Ex 300 One of the classiest 60's sides from the label...Mike Terry, Don Mancha, Freddie Gorman made it that way..great deep flip too.. Sons Of Moses - Soul Symphony - Soft VG++ 50 Classic instrumental on the original Texas label Harold Burrage - Master Key - M-Pac VG++ 45 Great early Chicago....not often seen for sale... Chuck Wright - Love I Won't Be A Fool Anymore - Ember WD VG++ 75 The far more soulful version IMO.. 4th Kingdom - Gotta Get To You - Congress of Racial Equality Ex 100 Great crossover soul from J R Bailey and Ken Williams...hard on this label.. Ruby Winters - In The Middle Of A Heartache - Diamond DJ M- 40 Great soul....one of her least know and harder to find 45s.. The Ambassadors - Too Young For Me - Fleet VG++ 120 Great group rare soul..... The Huns' Review Featuring The Soul Brothers - Don't Make Me Love You - Sorro VG++ 300 Storming Northern that's now getting much deserved plays... The Headlines - He's Looking For A Love - Luau VG++ 400 Awesome group Northern that's still filling dance floors... Frances Nero - Keep On Lovin' Me - Soul VG++ 100 The Theo-Coff Invasion - Lucky Day - Dearborn VG+ 50 Classic Detroit instrumental.... Ben Monroe - Broken Home - Dakar M- 20 Why this isn't played out, I'll never know - top quality 70's Rena Scott - We Can Make It Better - Buddah WD M- 40 Absolutely brilliant modern soul...Mtume & Lucas '79......this is a very hard to find tune... Cheers..
