  1. The best i ever saw from Carl was around 1998 he came to our local Danum Hotel night at Donny.Carl did a dance off with a great mate of mine Tony Reever Reeves to Little Joe cook--I'm falling In love with you baby. The floor cleared to watch them got to say it was an even contest, wish that had been filmed.
  2. Sorry see edited post its one minute although you see glimpses of him earlier and you really had to see him in the flesh to see how good he was. Most people on the 90s circuit will know him well
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0fyb-c9ZBA This is the tube link to see a SOULIE dancing at Cleethorpes weekender. He comes in at one mins with white shirt
  4. Ok We have all seen some fantastic Northern soul dancers on the scene and i'm sure we can all name several from every region. But who has really taken your breath away when you saw them dance. My Nomination would be the Guy they simply called Soulie, think his mame was Mark Allis from Peterborough. Not seen him on the scene for several years now, he has featured on you tube clips of Cleethorpes weekender dance comps. As i say many dancers have impressed me but SOULIE left me Transfixed and for me was tops
  5. Its a fantastic dancer Ady please release it as soon as poss .In the mean time i will have to ask Ginger to spin it for me
  6. Back at the last Stoke Kings Hall Nighter a fantastic instrumental of Jesse Davis--Gonna Hang On in there was played think by Ginger Taylor. Not heard it played out since,is it an exclusive Ginger spin? or is it getting action anywhere else. Also is it on any cds yet would love an mp3 of it
  7. Troubles--Lee Rogers Awesome played out loud
  8. True Stomping was an artform when done correctly. It involves a fast shuffling of the feet to very uptempo pounders.Back in my youth club days i was quite good and my feet used to move as fast as bees wings.Lots of lads could do it but it was knackering and to be honest thats why it has died out,but you still see people on todays scene stomping in bursts.Big stomping records at our youthy were The Champion The Kid Dance To the music The Flasher Along comes mary Reaching for the best
  9. Great ender record.Saw a scooter at Cleethorpes at the weekend with a customised paint job called the Drifter--keeping the faith.Looked Great would have just finished it off to have a scan of the Uk demo on the scoot
  10. This is one of my all-time fave Northern soul tracks a great dancer with a fantastic intro.I own a Mary Jane copy and a Green label Carrie. This is my understanding of the releases, could be wrong but its what i have been told by several good sources Orange label Carrie is its first release Then came the Mary Jane release without Call Me on the flip Then came the Jamico release Then in the mid 70s Carrie re-released both sides on the Green label The Carrie and Jamico tracks are from the same session and probably backed by the Fifes The Mary jane is a different take and suggests a different session with backing this time by the Arabians There is also of course the Uk Grapevine release with Baby Don't you weep
  11. I Have a copy of Stanky on cobblestone that i bought from Dave Flynn a couple of years back. The thing is the flip side plays I've Tried but the label titles are missing. Its just a blank Cobblestone lablel. The Stanky side is all ok.Does anyone else have a copy like this
  12. Went to the first Riley Smith Hall Night, and have to say the floor is great. However is it really bigger than Brighouse,Kings Hall Stoke, and the Tower because it doesn't appear to be to me.Maybe if the tables were cleared off the floor it would have looked bigger,i know there has to be seating for the big attendance but i hate to see great floors taken up by tables along the edges. The Riley is a must for the Soulie to dance on though
  13. God how could i forget Rotherhams Clifton hall that floor was fantastic.Come to think of it though the night in general can make or break the floor, been to lots of soul nights that looked promsing with nice floors only to turn out crap with no one dancing. no matter how good the floor is there needs to be a good crowd on it interacting and making the atmosphere
  14. Best Floors i have ever danced on Hatfield Spiral Youth Club--Where it all began for me,sunken sprung maple Stoke kings hall Cleethorpes winter gardens--great spring Trentham gardens---massive Brighouse ritz--best in yorkshire Blackpool tower--the wow factor but the floor is hard work Monaco ballroom Prestwich Keithley Okeh hall
  15. Thanks for the reply John.I have had the Blue/white del-larks for years and my John&Weirdest is minter without the dogey date stamp.I have many original records, but still treasure some of my boots. They are part of my northern soul history, many were bought inside the legendary long gone venues at a time when i didn't have any money to get the real thing.they were then brought back to play in local youth clubs and spread the faith.Another two i love is my Dana Valery copy on the pink Pussycat label, and Lillie Bryant on Tayster
  16. Hi John What about the JOHN&THE WEIRDEST TIE boot. Also the DEl-Larks Queen city boot that mirrors the orig design but is blue/white I have both of these and have ever seen them on sale anywhere for 10+years

  18. In my experience the following boots (2nd issue) are the hardest to find and can fetch quite high prices John & the Weirdest--Can't get over these memories--Tie Del-Larks--Job opening---Queen City Hebert Hunter---i ws born to love you----Spar Eddie Paker---I'm Gone---Awake Salvadors--Stick by me baby---wise world Luther ingram--If its all the same to you--HIB green Ronnie Mcneir--Isn't she a pretty girl---Deto Damon Fox--Paking up---Fairmount
  19. The Blackpool Tower winner last year(Keith from Rotherham) was a perfect example of a Dancer. He did throw in a few great tricks but it was mostly perfect footwork that got him the title,no gimmicks no baggy trousers just great dancing it was very refreshing to see,but i feel most judges are usually swayed by the flips
  20. Agree totally with Betty Lavette--Simply awesome. Also would say Linda Jones Male--Well Who Can better Roy Hamilton
