  1. Thats not the same thing at all mate,The 12' has a very long too long intrumental section, while this edited version has a shorter one followed by an extra verse
  2. Thanks for that mate, interesting so the only example of this longer edit on vinyl is the Boot label disc, shame its not legit and can't get spun out think it improves on the shorter 45 version which ends too soon.Interesting series of records on the BOOT label i recall them appearing around early 90s think another one had the Detroit Prophets on it.Back to E.S.P does the longer version appear on any CDs
  3. Hi guys Big old fave of mine--MY BABY'S GOT E S P---FOUR BELOW ZERO. I have an original Roulette copy,i also picked up a re-issue some years back on the BOOT label. This re-issue has a longer version of the track with an extra verse.Where does this come from is it the PP label version or an album cut Thanks in advance--PATTO
  4. Nice one Debbie you've made this Soulie blush.Don't know weather to feel pleased for your partner or sorry for him especially if everything has to be done at 100MPH
  5. I Think the principle of ender tracks is a VERY traditional and important element of a nighter. Its an emotional come down and closure of the night. You have had all night to dance to the uptempo stormers and there is no better way to leave than a slow dance to a spine- tingling slab of soul Think the casinos 3 before 8 are perfection and will never be beaten, but if i have to choose alternatives i think i'll go for Carl Carlton---You Can't stop a Man in love Betty Lavette---Almost Bessie banks ---Go Now much better than sex, that can wait till sunday afternoon
  6. Eddie Parker for me too Harry along with Stanley Mitchell's Get It Baby. While these two monsters still fill the floors Northern Soul is alive and Kickin'
  7. Sounds Good Pete sent you a PM for details
  8. After an old fave of mine for a sensible price,in EX condition OTIS BLACKWELL---ITS ALL OVER ME---EPIC DEMO Cheers PATTO
  9. STOMPING,Wow used to love it and i was always told i was brill at it .When done right a full floor of good dancers stomping was a joy to behold and much more entertaining than the acrobatics. The dance involved skipping between each foot and quickly flashing your feet as quick as bee's wings all in time to a 100mph beat. Some guys could do it on one leg and throw spins and kicks in to boot. The dancefloor used to bounce its arse off.The Stompers were done to uptempo mainly 60s tracks such as WILLIE MITCHEL--THE CHAMPION SLY STONE---DANCE TO THE MUSIC--or THE FRENCH FRIES VERSION WORLD COLUMN--SO IS THE SUN ANDRE BRASSEUR---THE KID SAXIE RUSSELL---PSYCADELIC SOUL BAJA MARIMBA BAND---ALONG COMES MARY LLOYD MICHELS---THE FLASHER Shuffling was just as skillful but not quite as manic as stomping, more controlled to trickier beat tracks.A similar principle but the feet usually never left the floor and slid on top of it.The Shuffellers usually danced to 70s tracks such as SKIP MAHONEY---JANICE GIL SCOTT HERON---THE BOTTLE WILL COLLINS--IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO LOVELITES---GET IT OFF MY CONSCIENCE MICKEY MOONSHINE---NAME IT YOU GOT IT FLAME N KING--HO HAPPY DAY This is all just a generalisation and it did seem to differ from region to region. My area of Donny was full of great lads who would only dance the Stomping way, then you could travel a few miles and find a club who didn't like em and prefered the records that allowed floor work acrobatics. Its all part of the great diversity of Northern Soul everyone has there own styles within the basic framework.Back to the original question the last time i saw a floor packed with people ALL STOMPING is back to the Hatfield Spiral Youth Club circa 1979/80.The last time i saw a floor full of SHUFFELLERS was Rotherhams Clifton Hall circa 1983/4 Have to say now a days it seems the ladies are better than the guys at both types of this dance maybe the artheritus sets in later in women, but still see some guys doing it in short bursts
  10. Pete Thanks for the reply,so it was pressed up around 78ish then on this Bee label by Sousan, what was it played off before that. Agree with you i like it too best version IMO and sounds quite good played out loud especially the intro,i have heard much worse instrumentals over the years.Very strange choice for the flip--Sabre Dance what was He thinking about there. Is it still an easy record to find?
  11. Hi People Please don't cringe but i have always been curious about the origin of this track. The Wigan Joker version by the Royal Vibes.Talking with a mate of mine the other day about our Youth Club Northern Soul history and this was mentioned as the prefered one to dance too.It was available in our local rcord shops on the BEE label.Think i once heard that the infamous Simon Sousan was behind it and tailor made it with session musicians.Does anyone have anymore info, did it get any Casino plays, and is it now considered as a Northern Soul room 101 candidate Cheers Patto
  12. Thats The Fella Godzilla just what i'm after mate sent you a PM

  14. Hi Guys Not everyones cup of tea but i have always liked SHIRLEY WAHLS---BECAUSE I LOVE YOU--CALLA. Before i post up in wants would like to know how much it fetches as i can't find it in any price guide. There is a Demo on POPSIKE that went for £30.Would be great if i could afford one, any info much appreciated
  15. Good BALANCED post Casper, and i hope your partner has recovered ok.If she is the lass i think she is the one who dances like the devil then i wish i had the same mild asthma if it gives you energy like that. But seriously you got it bang on some floors need the talc but put a little under your chair or at the corner of the floor its all about common sense and consideration really thats all
  16. I usually manage to get to one good night a month, and its the quality of the venue,DJs,dancefloor etc in other words all things important to Soulies that matter above the entry fee.The averge soulnight price seems to be £5 and Nighters around £10 and this is about right for todays climate. When you consider the admission price to a football match or even the cinema then its clear we don't do bad,and most of the weekenders are great value.Don't think free admissions are needed, nowt wrong with paying a fair price for the very hard work that most promoters have to put in to get thinks right
  17. Love this record one of my faves and would never sell it. My copy has in its run out grooves an intricate inscription saying Richard & Barbara 1980 always wondered who these people were. Also would lve o know who Tojo really is any theories from anyone ?
  18. Nothing better than hearing a long forgotten, underplayed, mega rare ,or just a common fave tune, then showing your appreciation to the DJ by clapping.Must be great for the DJ to hear it also.Would be a sad day if it stopped.
  19. Totally Totally agree fantastic track to dance to , only got it on grapevine however, this gets me up everytime i hear it which is far too infrequent
  20. Two Candidates from my collection, one storming Northern, the second a 70s blinder 1--PERFORMERS--I CAN'T STOP YOU--MIRWOOD (this was championed a few years back by Neil Jones but still never broke wide range, its a slab of Northern Soul Dancing perfection and cheep 2---RANDOLPH BROWN---IT AIN'T LIKE IT USED TO BE--NINE CHAINS ( Great slab of 70s with poinient social lyrics right for today)
  21. I'll take it ken looks like there are other good guys out there.Sent you a PM let me know if you find it
  22. Thanks to Adam Topping for trying to help me out with this record but at the time i just didn't have the brass, but he is one of he good guys
  23. Still after a copy of this after getting priced out, looks like i've lost out to the in demand factor pushing prices up.Sorry can only stretch to £50,but maybe some kind soulie will sell me one.
