  1. I couldn't get OTIS BLACKWELL'S---ITS ALL OVER out of my head for weeks, and just had to get a copy of it.Funny never really liked it back in the day
  2. One of my alltime faves this Simon, simply have to dance to it.These uptempo type 70s ANTHEMS are just as much NORTHERN SOUL as the 60s oldies.Venues that played these 70s dancers mixed in with the oldies were places like Cleggy Winter Gardens,Rotherham Clifton Hall,Manchester Ritz, and many more 80s venues. For me the perfect formula to a great Northern Soul night is 5 classic oldies followed by a couple of underplayed lesser known oldies, then followed by 3 or 4 70s spins. You can't beat a good accross the board night with 60s 70s played together in the main room summat for everyone , different dance styles on show with no bias to any era.
  3. Thats a nice gesture Simon your made of the right stuff . Me at the mo i feel like im in the mire, Skint,Car knackered, bit of illness, and having to work on Christmass Day.But in reality i am well off,got my family all round me and a roof over my head, and things looking up for new year.Lots more Soulies worse off than me give Simon a call,if hes as mad in real life as he is on Soul Source then sure he will lift you up a bit.To all the pissed off soulies remember the iconic words of Nolan Porter YOU GOT TO KEEP ON KEEPING ON NO MATTER HOW ROUGH IT GETS Merry Christmas and a Soulful new year to all
  4. The Combinations "What'cha Gonna Do".This is available on a Goldmine CD GSCD 110 FOR MILLIONAIRES ONLY VOL 3
  5. I was chasing this record around about a year ago,and it is surprisingly tricky to pin down. The ELF ones i saw in sales boxes were around £75 and the PAMA ones were fetching £30-50.Most of the PAMA ones i saw had the middles dinked they look so much nicer intact. Also i'm not sure but once got told the Pama copies were crisper sound quality than the U.S ones.Good Luck finding one as Kev said Danger is the side
  6. My Fave re- activations heard this year Soul Notes--Don't make me beg Chris Morgan--Who am i Bronzettes--Beggin Truetones---Hes got nerve Jesse fisher---Your not loving a beginner Incidently BARNEY nice call on the HONEY TOWNSEND,always sounds great loud
  7. Hi Guys Just gave the flip of Flirtations Nothing But A Heartache a spin.Track is HOW CAN YOU TELL ME.This is a fantastic storming Old Skool dancer and would have suited the Big Venues. Was wondering if it did indeed get any action back in the day .
  8. Gareth That is identicle to my copy mate which i have always been led to believe is the original U.S 45 release, unless anyone knows otherwise
  9. Typical luck for me.Waded through some great suggestions in the cheapies thread, picked a fave front runner, offered 4 times what Bri Pinch struggled months to sell his for,and it now vanishes from trace. Still after a JO ANN GARRET--WHATCH BEEN DOING--DUO Anyone please
  10. No problem Dave, were cool, mistaken identity happens all the time on this crazy scene,i don't recognise myself sometimes
  11. Thanks for your brill selections Adam,Yes mate i did finally get the CL BLAST and a SHIRLEY WAHLS.These Cheapies are great but what happens if you love loads of them same old funds problem.Just put my first target up in sales--JO ANN GARRET--WHATCHA BEEN DOING.Don't suppose you got one at all?
  12. What was it that the great Bill Shankley said about football FOOTBALLS NOT A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH, ITS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT Substitute A NORTHERN SOUL NIGHT OUT inplace of FOOTBALL OF course it made a difference the unwashed masses are desperately jealous of our scene. It made us individuals and set us up perfectly do deal with all lifes crapness, theres an answer to everything while your listening to Soul music
  13. HI people Some great tips from the thead i started in the Look in The box section thanks everyone.Anyway the leading contender is JO ANN GARRETT---WATCHA BEEN DOING--DUO anyone out there with one to sell around the £30-£40 mark pm me please
  14. Don't need direction mate just a bit of inspiration and advice from the Top people on here. Most of the tunes they have mentioned i know or have had and parted with over the years but some of them i ain't heard and are fantastic and are much better than most of the overplayed casino rejects we are spoon fed at lots of venues.I don't know you Dave maybe your easier to understand in real life
  15. Thanks Sepia,Got the Lee Rogers-Troubles massive late 90s record, nice tip on the Tina Britt checking out the others. On the whole everyones tips are top notch thanks to everyone for their time

  18. HI guys looking to top up my box with a few credit crunching busters.Looking for uptempo Northern with an R&B edge costing less than £50.Do any of you have any closely guarded secrets that you are willing to let out of the bag.Recommendations appreciated Thanks--Patto
  19. Thanks for your reply to my Question Ian.BRILL story mate great to know the tale i heard was true.Been said many times but your's is the book that needs to be written
  20. Question from me for IAN DEWHIRST.One of my fave late casino spins was WILBUR WALTON--24 HOURS OF LONELINESS.I once heard that IAN discovered this in a Sheffield junk shop circa 1978, is this true?
  21. Fantastic track great dancer, just the kind of record that needs to be played out more.Would never part with mine along with another great Way Out release by the Soul Notes--Don't Make Me Beg
  22. Think the breakthrough 1003 is on an orange label, and the later 1004 release is red.First books at £200,second £75.Me i have and would go for the very very similar W.F.B on the nice looking California Gold label and save a wedge
  23. A very well written, tongue in cheek, but thought provoking post Jocko.Oh by the way also TRUE
  24. Hi Guys, love reading these type of threads.I missed out on the Casino but over the years i have seen out most of the great dancers you have all mentioned. However i have never knowingly met or seen the Legendary Frank Booper. Are there any posted photos of him or tube clips with him in just to put an image to the name i keep hearing about
  25. Must appologise Vaultofsouler i have just found out i've been talking bollocks ,the edited version i have is on a white label carver i picked up at keele many moons ago and i think it was lifted from a C D don't know which. The BOOT label one i've been going on about sounds like its the PP version which is slightly different to the Roulette one as i'm sure you know. There is a long 8 mins plus alt version posted on you tube.Think i should just stick to my Roulette issue and be happy with its short brilliance, don't like 12' never have. But thanks for replys and sorry for any confusion on my part my heads a shed on sunday nights in fact most nights these days
