  1. Yeh what i didnt want was people posting up Fantasy mega expensive records to show off.I've got a few big ticket items but they are all very well Known and over time i have come accross many top dancers that are less expensive. From my list stuff like FIVE STAIRSTEPS,FAB DOWNBEATS,CHUCK CARTER.These are amazing Northern Soul records that don't get much turntable action.I Love my Oldies but the Same old stuff does need interspersing with the odd underplayed tracks to keep things fresh.Thats what Northern Soul is about for me a mix of the familiar and the not so
  2. Nice stuff mate but as you say a lot of regularly played stuff but like your Eugene Church and Clarence Murry
  3. Nice Mark thats the kinda stuff i am talking about.Like em all
  4. Recently a thread on OVO playlists was prematurely in my opinion closed.Personally i love these kind of threads and after all it is LOOK IN YOUR BOX forum. So thought i would try to inject new life into it using a slightly different approach.Right the Task is to name a playlist of 15 records that you would spin for the dancefloor.Try to list under played stuff or favourites that dont get played anymore and avoid the same old oldies 1/ From your own collection 2/ Original labels 3/ Uptempo Dancers only 4/ Priced at around £50 from fair dealers Thats it to start i have posted a few lets hope the thread gets some positive posts like it used to be and lets talk about records

  9. My first experiences were in and around the Donny area also,a couple of years later than you Ed.Hatfield Spiral Youth club's sunken sprung floor was the first time i Danced to The Champion,The Kid,Out of my mind, stop,The Flasher, and all the youth club Northern Faves circa 1978 as a13 year old.In Donny remember Time and Place club dayers and Rotters.couple of years later i just caught the tail end of Wigan before making for Stafford,Clifton Hall and the other great 80s venues
  10. The Demos are nice Ernie and are prob as hard to find as the Swirls, the white oval ones are i think 2nd issues
  11. Hi Ernie no its the SWIRL design which i think is the least common,a top casino oldie that you never seem to hear anymore
  12. Here you go 12 underplayed uptempo dancers just how i like it. All original,All my own and all not too expensive. This is the kind of stuff i would play all in my opinion great Northern Soul records and time to move away from the same old same old oldies.Could pick many more sets like this its too easy to play safe.

  14. This is one of my faves Lou Courtney--Me and You Doing The Boogaloo Also love Betty Everette's Falling in love
  15. Don't know which came first but Manship has both for £20 i think when i last looked.Me i prefere the Betty Lavette version on Karen which i think is slightly rarer than the Jimmy
  16. Yes went about 10 years ago to Castleford Civic and its a great floor and big
  17. Would be a complete turn off for me i'm afraid and i would not attend a night where this was used.Don't mind the odd local soul night using legit re-issues but has to be Vinyl for me.Part of the ethos of the scene is to see real DJs playing ideally original vinyl on decks but thats just my opinion.

  21. The Counterfeits were bootlegs done to LOOK almost identicle to the original labels specifically to decieve collectors.Thats why the Jo Armstead is described that way, another example would be the Younghearts ---- A Little Togetherness---Canterbury

  24. Had this Kent issue for a few years now. Seen it for sale for good money these days as it is said to be the rarest on the label.Whats the story on this one and exactly how many were done to make it so scarce.By the way would love to hear it played more often as think it holds its own very well against the Apollas.
  25. Following on from my KTF one shown in first post these are two older ones i have on my back
