  1. Just read a post that says no talc was used at the casino is this true.I only went twice during its death throws so cant coment, but remember lots of talc use in the 80s/90s,think the most i got covered in it was at Keele
  2. Nothing worse than being sat near a person who walks onto the floor and empties half a tub of talc then shuffles on it for one dance before sitting back down for an hour. Having said that there was something magical about the old venue nighters when the floor was sprinkled with talc the smell mingling with the sweat, and your shoes and trousers coated in the stuff by morning. But Casper is right no need for it realy if you carry around two pairs of shoes.I have one leather soled and one clarks type soft cushion sole and a simple swap over makes it ok on most floors

  9. Think there are 3 takes of this .The 143 Calla,The 152 Calla ,and the version Butch played which was on his acetate.Don't know if they were all from the same session but personally i prefere the 152 which seams to be cheaper than the 143.My advice would be go for Seans sounds a good price
  10. Just love looking at these 80s flyers they just exude soulfulness. I varnished a few onto the lid of my main wooden record box which i made around 22 years ago now. They are all nighters i attended during the 80s.One is the Stafford Harold Melvin night, one is the Clifton Hall 2nd ann 82, and one is from Tony's Blackburn. The last is a Leeds Griffin Hotel with the Mighty Bub on the DJ rosta. I have saved a few of my Clifton hall flyers and some Bretby,Keele ones but really wished i had kept more,it seems Chalky you have a great collection from the ones you post up

  15. Yes Pete flip is I Gotta Go Now which has been known and played on and off.Its a good old Skool sound but the Believe it or Not side i think is more in line with the current vibe of driving beat funky edged dancers and sounds top notch played on a big system.I have it on a LIKE Demo

  19. Always thought the Millionaires series and the Allnighter series were the best things Goldmine put out and i still have them all,but didn't realise Millionaires 3 was any harder than the others.Does vol 3 command a higher price.
  20. Yes remember that old school football term well Chalky.I was a striker and a good un as a kid.Once after skinning a giant center half and scoring a cracking goal i said to him on the way back to half way line " you ain't got any pockets in them shorts mate nowt to put me in today".To which his reply was " No you clever Shit but i got big deep ones in my trousers back in the changing rooms and thats were your going after the game :(
  21. Fantastic post with you on every word Phil
  22. Spot on there Martyn.Seem to me that there are two types of youngsters around at the moment. Some that just seem to be copying their Parents and adopting their interpretation of what the scene was back in the 70s.Many of these will drift away. Then there are lots of younguns who are very clued up and want to do things properly while adopting their own identity and culture and look. These will be the long stayers.Seems to me that the guys that run the BLACK BEE club are on the right track. They seem to have the passion and from the wants posted are searching out original vinyl. So if the scene shrinks back underground im sure there are guys out there that will keep things alive in their own way.But whatever happens we have had our time and lots of it,give the younguns encouragement advice and let em enjoy it as we have.
  23. Thats the first time i've seen that incredible reading. The scene must have been in real turmoil at the time. Thanks for posting Dave
  24. First of all thanks to the many Likes tags against my first post.Always found Soul people to have big hearts and me and my daughter having our dance together must have stuck a nerve with you big tough Soulies. Some very uplifting Posts in this thread make inspirational reading.Despite less money of late i'm gonna really try to get to more nights next year.Life is too short and as i get older i'm reminded of a Logo on a Guy's Tea Shirt i saw a few years ago which simply said SO MUCH SOUL---SO LITTLE TIME .
  25. To be honest my soul year this year has been very sparse. Lots of factors involving Family, Lack of Money,Change of job have all had a negative effect on my outings.Think a lot of Soulies are feeling the pinch big time at the moment,so if you have got spare money to buy vinyl and travel to lots of nighters then consider yourself lucky. But like you said need to look on the positive side, and i had one massive one this year which realy lifted my soul.My Daughter Jess is 15 now and has put up with my attempts to soulfully educate her all her young life. I have taught her about the artists,Old venues, taken her to record fairs, and taught her how to spot a bootleg as she grew up.During this time she promised me that one day she would share a space with her old man on the dancefloor, and i have always looked forward to that moment.Well this year my dream came true when My Wife and me took Our Jess to the Brid weekender, and the magical father daughter dance happened.A Guy sat nearby said to me at the time "I Bet Your Proud Of Her Mate" and GOD i was. Here We Both are At Brid
