  1. Thanks for the support guys.Appologise was prob not the right choise of words as i love the old classics with a passion. What i mean really is the guys that post on this thresd have incredible records and knowledge so i try to post up more underplayed sounds to keep the interest going.Having said that i only put up records that i own and bugger it im proud to own some of these beauts and they took me a long time to get on the orig labels. So one more Big Un From Wigan for you for tonight
  2. Nice Call Baby Boy i assume you know the Jackie Wilson version.MUTED FLATS ill remember that one and lay it on some unsuspecting guy during the next night out.
  3. I was going to appologise for putting up a Northern Wigan top 500 classic but ive just looked and its not actually in the Kev Roberts book.Anyway i have a few Casino Biggies in my box and this one is a firm fave of mine.Be warned i may have a couple more to keep flying the Northern Flag.
  4. Seeing as ive mentioned it here it is the big noise sound of Jerry Ganey
  5. New sound for me Martyn and like it . Think you are right it would sound great in a big venue Its got that wall of sound factor in the same way that Jerry Ganey--You Dont Love Me has
  6. Thanks Chris.Donna Coleman now thats a great record also, one that unfortunately i dont own.I never had the pleasure of Bradford Queens Hall, but the pitch black, blaring brass, and off me tree sounds familiar
  7. Strictly Northern from me today and heres one i always include in my set from Bob Brady and the Con Chords.I love this one so much ive got it on two different Chariot labels.Got it on the Green National cameo parkway distribution release as in the clip, and the Red local label issue.
  8. I was getting a tad worried Martyn i thought we were in the PINK OYSTER CLUB Club for a while .But i do admit to enjoying some of the 70s stuff guys im not a totally blinkered 60s Mafia man just 99.9% . ANYWAY back to the records ive just been treated to two fantastic records.Martyn that Harry Deal is tearjerking class.Kev The Traits also great real mid nighter Northern.I dont own either but nearly bought a Traits on another label not Pacemaker, was it Garrison.Think the Pacemaker is the one to have. The Harry Deal on that label is a fair price tag Martyn nice one.
  9. Cheers Pal its always been a fave of mine have it on a demo .Yep its always been a good thread for hearing a variety of styles nice to have you on board.
  10. Bringing things back to a Northern Soul tilt heres a great Kapp label pounder.
  11. Just been catching up and some great stuff being posted guys.Appologies if i have put this one up before if i did it was a long time ago. This one i never played out but its a total stormer by the Tyn Tymes. It is of course a version of the Howard Tate Verve classic but The T Ts is the one for me a real bollock grabber.Had my pic sleeve copy for a few years now dont see many for sale so i think its a rare item
  12. YES thanks for replies but sorted out now with a red un
  13. Its a strange thing with the Northern Scene. Some records have more street cudos on U.K labels than U.S and some of the foreign releases realy create s lot of interest. At the end of the day as long as its original then the country of origin should not really matter. As for the which came first attitude if thats the case then only Demo copies would be acceptable as they are done before the issued release. I always remember as a teenager most of my records were either cheap orignals or boots cause thats all i could afford. However i was very proud of my large 45 original U.S Okeh copy of Little Richard--I Dont Want To Discuss It.One day in the youth club i was showing it off to a group of soulies when one of the older lads,a big face and wigan regular just said." YEP ITS NICE YOUNG UN BUT COULDNT YOU FIND IT ON U.K COLUMBIA THEN".At this point he pulled out a beautifull U.k Demo of said record and all my mates were all over it asking to hold it and wrapped up with it big style. I always remembered that moment and first chance i got i sold the Okeh and bought it on Columbia, and still have it to this day.Same can be said about some of the U.K Action copies with the Eddie Holman in particular always held in higher regard on Action rater than ABC.
  14. Well they are cool enough for me.I have several french label originals released exactly same years as the US ones. Also Aussie issues. In some cases the european ones are very valuable and sought after an example would be the Greek issues of Frankie Beverly and Dee Dee Sharp. Some guys just stick religiously to U.S issues only but my collection is a mixture and i mostly prefere U.K originals to the yanks. As long as they are real deal originals its ok in my book.
  15. Right inspired by Kev to put up another Billy Butler track. This one was im reliably informed a Torch Spin.It also has a great utempo dabcer on the flip side
  16. Wow another of my Faves great Northern Kev.Yep it is in demand these days and im lucky to have a Demo that i bought way back when still a cheapie, and mines staying put as well
  17. TOTALLY fantastic tune that just explodes out of the speakers.Old 100 club tune i have an issue here.Good call Martyn

  21. Martyn This is the label i was thinking about.Dont know if its legit
  22. This one is the perfect follow on partner to Geater on the decks
  23. Hi Martyn Good to hear its getting spins again.Did i once see it on a different label or different Orange label design, maybe or could be mistaken
  24. Always a big fave of mine Kev,gots lots of 90s action but sadly not heard enough these days.Ive got one too and its going no where.
  25. Yep that Dolls record is totally infectious and they look so cute in the clip.Gonna leave it today with one that just might be soulful and gritty enough. This i have on a Calla Demo.Never heard it played out but what a power house of a tune from Shirley Wahls.
