  2. Its deffo one that splits opinions.Rogers for me by a whisker and my copy has the bonus of the storming How Are You Fixed For Love,on the flip Were both versions played around the same time does any of the early scene Torch,Wheel,Cats crowd recall
  3. Last week got into a Soul Discusion with an old mate about the Classic Northern Anthem CRACKED UP OVER YOU.The crux of the banter was which version do you prefere LEE ROGERS, Or DANNY WHITE.My mate went for Danny White but my choice is the rawer(to my ears) Rogers version on WHEELSVILLE . Then the questions of which got plays first and which venues and DJs.I Know the Danny White is a very early scene days tune and i remember it getting played in my youth club days. But i only remember hearing the Rogers version much later. Any comments guys
  4. The photo is in Winstanleys Soul Survivors book where it lists the source as the Wigan Observer
  5. Great clip mega tunes.Same here i thought they were a couple of years later.Top days Ritz bank holiday nighters,Keele,Winsford,Blackburn,Bretby.Probably the last period that the scene was still underground.
  6. Just beat me to it Chris. No ABC release. This is my original first press on Lizard
  7. Always much prefered the instrumental by Honey Townsend.Sounds great played out
  8. Cheers Martyn have a good un down at Number 100 Oxford St.Dave the Rex Garvin is a cracker and the Northern side (I Got To Go Now) is a real old skool Stormer.. The Gong intro on Believe It Or Not, only other record ive heard start that way is So Is The Sun Patto
  9. Pier nighters a bit before my time Bruv but danced to it a few times at the winter Gardens.Vocal for me also but at the right time the Instro delivers as well.
  10. Nice one Bruv. All time Cleethorpes classic.Which do you prefere the vocal or instumental
  11. LOVE that Delfonics Bruv Heres one from me that took me ages to get hold of.I first heard it mid 80s but it may have had earlier spins. On the Frog label this is the first Grade.
  12. Cheers Martyn i thought i needed to get you back into the Ben Sherman before you fell into the ritz bin liner and plastic sandals. However Peter has struck a nerve with his Janice posting sending me back yo my first Clifton Hall nighter when it ruled supreme.I used to have it on the Underworld copy but sold it a while back. I dont own many 70s in my collection apart from a few that are well and truely on the Northern Side but gonna reply to Peters Janice with this scorcher that is just impossible to resist shaking a brogue or plastic sandal to
  13. About time i posted one up.Got this one sent over from the states many years ago it being an all time fave of mine.Have it on the Solid Hit label but it also got a UK release on Track All the Best to Dave (Keep on Keeping on )

  16. lm looking for a nice playing original Demo or issue. No need to be mint but a good DJ Copy required Must be original with all the right marks in runout Anyone ready to let one go cash waiting please pm with detail Cheers Guys Patto
  17. Few more scans to show all variations i can find The black issue i have is the one at the side of the Demo and as you can see the design is the same with shortened R Mac in writers credits and the extra supervision sonny knight on bottom line The other black design mirrors the blue issue copy shown So are both blacks legit can anyone confirm either way please.
  18. Appologies for resurecting this thread.I have recently seen copies for sale exactly the same as mine pictured in my previous post. Mine is the black label design with the shortened R Mac in the credits. This is the exact copy of the design on the white Demo. There are two black label designs as we know but there is no mention in Manships guide that either one is a boot.So does anyone know for sure if one is a boot,i have kept mine out of the playbox but as i say keep coming accross them getting sold as original black labels matrix numbers on mine same as ones on millos . Any help on this one guys

  21. LOVED it back then Stan and unashamed to still love it now.Think it still goes for a fair bit but never owned it myself. To be honest most of the stuff i loved back in the 80s still do it for me . I never try to pick the imperfections out of Northern Soul records as its those same little gaps in production quality or vocal talent that make the records hit home somehow.
