  1. Gonna resurect this thread due to my love of the track.I have the Grapevine LP with Spellbound on, but agree with Andy that the mastering is poor.Would love to play it out and would like to know if the recent first 45 release is ok to play at an OVO event. Is it legit and acceptable or is it a case of having to spin the first album release.Have any DJs spun the recent 45 and is it good sound quality.
  2. Baby Washington is Marvelous Ray Whirlpool Abner Great record

  5. Thank you Mick that backs up what ive discovered myself by listening to the diff versions
  6. Right ive just done some trawling to listen to the different versions and come up with this The Canterbury copies the first time the lyric A LITTLE TOGETHERNESS is uttered is at approx 51 seconds. This is also same in the Zea copies Kings of Hearts. However in the Soultown Copies New Younghearts there is an extra verse starting as YOU DONT HAVE TO BE A MILLIONAIRE.The A little Togetherness line comes in far later at approx 1.20. So the New Younghearts is diff mix
  7. Hi Guys Sorry to inflict this one on you but after reading through the many threads on this i havent managed to grasp the answer to this question. Im Aware that there are 3 original label releases of A little Togetherness on Canterbury,Soultown, and Zea.Im also aware that one of the cuts is longer with a different arrangement to the lyrics before the corus. The running times on the labels are all over the place as follows. Tempos-- Little Togetherness---Canterbury 3.15 Younghearts---Little Togetherness---Canterbury 2.45 Younghearts---A Little Togetherness---Canterbury 2.33 New Younghearts--- A little Togetherness---Soultown 2.48 Kings of Hearts--A little Togetherness--- Zea 2.40 Question is which cut is the longer version arrangement found on.Is it just the Tempos credited one.
  8. Probably the Hardest and most valuable of the 100 club Anniversary singles.Certainly the one everyone wants, ive never owned one.
  9. Forgotten by many here is a minor Wigan spin that to my ears has all the attributes to make the grade with the oldies crowd and should have been played more over the years.
  10. Some great tunes there mate just the kind of stuff i play out myself. Looks like a lot of em could be originals as well so fair bit of moneys worth.Would have kept me happy nice one.
  11. They were both a bit handy Pete far too hard for the Disco Bunny boys
  12. IT IS quite a racket Len .Deffo a Marching powder tune.I once spun this in my spot after introducing it as So this is for all the people out there that said they only played boring mid tempo tunes at Stafford
  13. Here is one that might interest you Ian.Back in the 80s i remember hearing Guy H play a frantic 100mph instrumental.I never found out its title and Lost track of it and never heard it out anywhere until i saw it on this you tube clip from Nuneaton nighter 2013. The Dancers are of course Andy Cannon and Sharon two of the very best and prob the only 2 these days that could dance to it . Anyway Mr Martyn Bird put me out of my misery by identifying the record as the Cover up Lord Thunder--- Kaos.Real artist Blockbusters--Muddy part 2 Always thought it should have got more action but the frantic tempo does it no favours for todays ageing dancers
  14. Think i also recall some of the old Cleethorpes pier guys saying this was a big tune back in their day.Like you say it was eclipsed when the Melba Moore emerged mid 80s.Melba is in my opinion the far better version but Bobby is better for the dancefloor with a great Northern Soul Tempo.
  15. Full of atmosphere bet that sounds great mid nighter
  16. Any opinions on this one.I remember lots of plays during the mid 90s mainly North West venues.after hearing it expected it to do more and picked up a Solid Hit issue but never heard it much since.
  17. I was put on to this one a few years back by Martyn Bird, and the first person i actually heard play it out was Sheffields Chris Brooke.Got myself a copy soon after and cant understand why it didnt become a big sound back in the day
  18. Two crackin tunes there Baz.This one from James Spencer is a real stormer.Does anyone play it out
  19. Cheers Baz yeah Lowton always was a venue where you could hear underplayed stormers glad to hear it still is in the new place
  20. Another one that had a brief moment in the 80s but cant understand why the Northern oldies guys dont spin it more often.Thats 2 from me both in my box so ill keep playing them from time to time given the chance. T
  21. Here is a great uptempo Northern dancer that i have been banging on about for years.Never hear of it getting any plays out and cant see how it wasnt a big tune in the past.
  22. Looking to replace this after giving mine away many years ago SORTED SORTED Must be the Italian pic Sleeve which has the good version with drum roll into Pms please Thanks Patto
  23. Gladys Knight seems like good value to me in these crazy price tag days.Awsome tune big early 90s memories for me and although not rare it took me ages to find a nice copy.
  24. Thing is Ian its all totally subjective.Every time a tune gets nominated as worst ever a few will come on and say it was one of their faves and reminds them of a past venue. So many different styles of record have been played on the Northern Scene over the decades. The fact that one mans great Northern Soul can be another mans Country and western Blue Eyed Pop crap. Thats a good thing it allows unexpected tunes to go big and it means our top ten faves and worst ten always change.Forgotten records that were considered poor are often reactivated and hit the spot simply because they havent been played for years. There are some records that i raved about in the past and ran onto the floor to dance to that i now cringe at but given half a chance i wish i could jump in a time machine and dance to em again as my younger self.
  25. Thanks mate appreciate the nod.The other Residents played some great stuff as well.
