Saw Angie Stone at the Jazz Cafe last night and thought she was great....................Far better than most of the wrinklies that get dragged across the pond the relive their youth at the weekenders I've attended..........I know most won't agree but IMHO just because a singer was brilliant when they were 25 doesn't mean they will be able to hit the right notes when they're 65 and sadly most of them are a poor imitation of their original recordings. Some have been the exception to this but mostly I find them disappointing.

Really like this.......some people prefer the Gi Gi side but for me Give It Up is the one. His other release on Spidletop "Baby I'm Lost" is good as well.........bought it blind recently and was well pleased when I got it home and played it.

Pete, that was me selling it on ebay (username Soulbeagle) I put it on Buy-It-Now and it didn't sell, I actually got the record a while ago at a soul night in Desborough from Dave Welding. Anyways, If you look carefully at the scan you can actually see where the label has been nibbled away from the centre.......BY SILVERFISH. But hey who gives a toss anyway......whereas you see this as some attempt to excuse the label damage......all I was doing was just trying to be helpful with an accurate description. Next time I will follow your professional advice and just put "Half of Label Missing"

You've led a very sheltered life Pete if you've never seen an insect damaged label. Presumably you know what silverfish are because most houses have some and we sometimes get them in the understairs cupboard at home..........well sometimes thay eat some of a paper label when it's been stored in dark and slightly damp storage for years.......seen loads affected by this...surprised you haven't heard it before.

I think you're missing the point a bit Pete, most sellers on here are collectors like me who only sell to fund other wants. Usually, I only ask for the same amount (and in some cases less) that I paid for the record in the first place. This is done on the basis that if I can't get most of my money back for any particular record then I'd rather just put it back in my collection. If you're not making a living from it then there's no need to discount records by as much as 50% just to shift them out. Can't speak for anyone else but I've sold and traded a lot of stuff in the past without too much difficulty but would have to say that money seems very tight with everyone at the moment and most dealers I have spoken to aren't selling much at the moment either. Cleethorpes the other week was a good example, most dealers said that they had hardly sold anything much.
