In simple terms, the new stuff will continue to be issued by Richard and Ralph under whtever guise Expansion decide. The GO AHEAD lable is Richards own project now that he has "retired" from his day job. He is passionate about the music he grew up with, brought to us as a DJ and now wants to bring to the soul faternity LEGALLY. All of his projects will see artists being compensated in one form or another and with their or the licensees agreement. He was, is and always will be passionate about the music and do everything above board. Yes he has many unreleased gems that most havent heard, but without the relevent "go ahead" from the artist, lincesee or publisher, they will never surface into the mainstream. THE most passionate man on the soul scene will do what he has to do.... legally. Please let's put this to bed and await a wealth of material from a man who undoubtedly features in the top 3 of people instrumental in the development of the Northern (and indeed Modern) soul scene Steve

Benny Troy will be performing at selected venues up and down the country following his appearance at the Prestatyn weekender. The selected, more intimate gigs will however, allow him to perform far more material and showcase his extensive repertoire. Thybergh Working Men's Club in Rotherham will take place on the 26th of March. Booking details will follow in due course. Further south, Benny will be performing at the Fulbourn Sports & Social Club in Cambridge on the 9th of April. Guess this should be off forum but...angered...nah, a little annoyed maybe that I can't offer a simple piece of advice to help the proceedings along. You didn't say the Compilation CD was one you were going to copy or an orig. How was I to know but me offering that simple warning should have sufficed. Leniency simply wouldn't happen as far as the Vicars point of view goes. It's another working day for him at the office and if he is of the type who follows the book (ie: the rule book and not the chuffin' Bible-which I'm sure he does) my advice would have come in very handy. Sometimes you can't say anything on here without it being dissected by .... well let's leave it at that shall we and consider it done!

Leniency on whose part. All I'm saying is that some places do it by the book and don't play copied discs. Not so long ago my sister in law asked me for Luther Vandross "Dance with my father" for a funeral and the Vicar sent her away to get a legit copy when she gave him the copied disc. It's not me that makes the rules so don't come back at me like that. It's just a word of warning of what could happen.

Hi Nev, Just a word of warning. Check with the Vicar if it's OK on a copied disc. I've had more than one occasion where music supplied for weddings, funerals etc had to be on a legit release. (PRS and all that). Steve

Another recent post on here spurred me to write this and ask the question: Has anyone been offered, bought or found at a venue, a copy of Bobby Valentin - Use it before you lose it on Fania over the last few months. I put it up for sale in the Sales section the other week and had a buyer. When I went to find the record to scan and post on, it had disappeared from my box. The last time I had it was in August when I copied it for my radio show. I have since DJ'd at the Skeggy weekender in September and Prestatyn in October and, although I didn't play it, it would have been in my box. If anybody has any information or can shed some light on the missing 45 (there may be others too as I don't look in the boxes very often) then please PM me. There may even be a small reward.
