Soulman replied to Pete S's topic in Look At Your Box
Pete, Sold mine to one of the big three dealers quite a few years ago and got £200. It went to Japan. Prices on albums seem to have remained stable so £300 isn't out of the question however, using your pricing £250 job done Steve -

Ivan Neville On Cookie, Bobby Shannon On To-Mar, & The House Guests 45
Soulman replied to a topic in Record Wants
Hi Jim, Have the Ivan Neville up for grabs. Will check it out but thinks as near mint as you can get. Best Steve -
Here's one or two more up for grabs: 1. Barbara Dane "Im On My Way" 3Trey Demo (M-) £175 ONO Belting R&B that's worthy of another revival shortly 2. Soulville All Stars "Im Gonna Get To You" Soulville Issue (M-) £100 SOLD Still don't think this has reached it's potential after all these years 3. Fluffy Falana "My Little Cottage" Alpha (M-) £350 Super, super condition, doubt there's a better copy out there. Casino classic if ever there was one. 4. JD Abram "Doctor Of Love" Reena (M) £150 SOLD Stafford stormer thats as minty fresh as the day it came off the pressing plant. 5. Barbara Lynn "Im A Good Woman" Tribe Demo (M-) £130 R&B interest has caused this to soot up in price over the years. Stock seems to be all but dried up. Money back guarantee on all purchases if not happy. Payment by cheque, cash or bank transfer. Please add £3 per 45 for secure, signed for delivery. Thanks for looking Best Steve

Wishful thinking Mick. I think the fad for felt pens of all colours in the 60's ruined so many labels. Got a demo but has two red "highlighter" type x's and the number 25 ink stamped on the label...but no drill holes. Guess it's of no use but the offers there just in case. Best Steve
-
Hi Moxey, Have a nice demo. Vinyl and label in really nice condition. No marks, scribbles etc on label. There is a name etched into the runout that is the only detraction from its original state. How does that sound. If it's of interest let me know. Unfortunately I don't do Paypal though so it would have to be cash, cheque or transfer but with money back guarantee or even a try before you buy option if required. Best Steve

The following are up for grabs: 1.Detroit Executives "CoolOff" Pameline white label test press (Autographed by the late Popcorn Wylie (Ex+) £100 Classic Detroit from the main man who influenced so much of our scene 2. Doc & The Echoes "Why Wonder" Pulse Issue (Ex+) £80 Storming instrumental with a cheesy Beach vocal. Nice orange issue of an underrated tune. 3. Carolyn Crawford "I'll Come Running" / "My Smile Is Just A Frown" Motown Issue (M-) £80 Beautiful copy of this wonderful Detroit offering. 4. Idris Muhammad "I'm A Believer" Prestige Issue (M-) £90 Just right for todays Funky edged Northern dancefloors. 5. Johnny Durain "Someday I'll Get Over You" Big City Issue (Ex-) £40 Plays better than it looks. Has finger nail scratch on vinyl that does not affect play. Should be a massive tune. 6. Dee Dee Warwick "Funny How We Change Places" Private Stock UK Demo (M-) £75 Superb Modern / Crossover / Floater in minty fresh condition. Great record, great artist, great all-rounder. Payment by cash, cheque or bank transfer. Postage per 45 £3 for secure, signed for delivery. Cheers for looking Best Steve

Oh and a chap also in Huddersfield with a Ferrari with G1RLS...
-
Far removed from Soul but there's the Beatles fan who has LET 178 E... (LET 17 8E = LET IT BE) and there's a guy in Huddersfield who drives a big f*ck off Bently / Roller with the plate WOM3N... Obviously needs a big car and fancy plate to make up for what he lacks in the trouser department
-
Seem to recall that the most expensive plate went to some Sheik who paid over £7 Million for "1"... yes, just one figure, the first ever. Sad
-
I'll see your W4NKA and raise it to CUN7

A very nice "original" that has probably been coloured in using a red felt pen

Which leads us nicely on to the old....... Whats the difference between a hedghog and a car with a Northern Soul related number plate? And the answer is......................

Philadelphia International: The Re-Edits - Out 16/01/12
Soulman replied to Ian Dewhirst's topic in All About the SOUL
To all members of Soul Source: If you like Philadelphia Soul then you would be well advised to pre-order the above album. Not only are there some of the highest quality releases from this iconic label, but they have been made even better by the master Tom Moulton. If I had to choose the best album of not only this year, this decade or indeed this Millenium, then it has to be "Philadelphia International Classics: The Tom Moulton Remixes". Awesome, awesome music that will just blow you away. Thank you Ian, Tom, Reid and all involved. Steve Handbury :hatsoff2: -
Hi Tony, Got one of these but not sure whether its a boot or orig. I'll check and get back to you but either way, it''ll not be expensive Best Steve
-
Hi Andy, Need to find them but I got a boat load of sleeves from John at the Bowl and to be honest, as I'm selling pretty much all the stuff, I'll never use them. Got shed loads of Motown (Red, Blue, VIP, Gordy, White ,Sound Of..., Black Penny Farthing, Yellow Penny Farthing, Red Deck, and there's a couple of strange Tamla ones too). Also got quite a number of UK things. CBS sleeves, Virgin, Ensign. What are you looking for coz you can have them when I find them. Best Steve

Common Records Which Do A Good Job Of Avoiding You
Soulman replied to Kris Holmes's topic in Look At Your Box
Yes Steve....and how mint was it . Still got quite a few things from that batch that came from Thames TV... all just like were were off the press. Wouldn't it be great if the BBC ever sold up their archives. Wishful thinking maybe Steve Handbury
