  1. And the Tempests.....
  2. Think I've got a Garfield somewhere. Need to find it so I'll let you know Steve
  3. Soul Hooligan "Sweet Pea" which samples Dean Parish .....(Ooops, thanks Grayman) Steve
  4. I've played a few in my time that I don't like but the job of a true DJ is to entertain the crowd, fill the floor / educate the floor and ensure the promoter is getting value for money in the way of returning clientelle..... whether you like the tune or not when it sits on the decks. Steve
  5. Used to have a white demo originally but sold it due to not being a fan of the 45 as such (think I paid £10 for the original). Later I bought the green issue but was reliably informed that it was a legal second issue made available by John Anderson of Soul Bowl. Nowhere near the price of the first issue obviously but not having the "Guide" to hand I can't remember what the variants are nowadays. I guess it's over to the folks that know...... Steve
  6. Inspiration.... that's the word I should have used. Well done that man! Steve
  7. Recorded most of the Lorraine and Eddie shows but obviously concentrated on Ray Pollard at the time. God knows where the tapes are but I'll go a digging. Maybe Pete you could let Chalky have a look at the edited version you have or maybe Andy Rix will be able to lay his hands on the copy I ran off for him as we went to both the 100Club and Yarmouth together as it was Andy that instigated Ray's visit to the UK. Steve
  8. Sorry my mistake, it was Yarmouth... but you don't have the whole thing. I gave an edited version to John Manship which is where I presume the copy you put out came from, but nobody has ever seen the whole thing except yours truly. I'll try and dig it out along with the interview tapes that I'm looking for with regard to Chalky putting up. Steve
  9. One day Pete I'mm going to find that tape and let you have the whole thing. I remember filming both Ray's performance at the 100 club and then at Cleethorpes, and very well done it was too if I might add. I amnaged to stay upright and steady for 99% of the performance but remember getting a bit ratted with Raynoma afterwards !!!! Think Mr Rix will back me up on that Steve
  10. Like Pete, did an interview with Popcorn and although he referred to Coke as being an influence, it wasn't an advert as such, merely an inspiration. Wen he refres to "pop" it's Coca Cola he's talking about, but not specifically. It could have been any drink of the time, It's more the feeling of wanting refreshment. If anyone is buying, I have three for sale. Mighty Lovers on Boogaloo, Cool Off on orange Pameline and a white label Cool Off autographed by Popcorn that John Anderson had done as a legit re-press which says "Best wishes Popcorn". Rarest has to be the latter as it was done in limited quantity. Next is Mighty Lovers as some were destroyed. Finally there are the two Pameline issues, orange being least rare and green being the rarer. As far as what i would play, as Ian said.... Cool Off all the way. Cool at the time and even cooler now. A superb record, a classic, a standard and a pure off the wall Northern record from a man that never yes never, got the recognition for providing the Northern scene with some of the best that we have ever had the peasure of hearing, listening to and dancing to. An unsung genius that I had the pleasure of meeting. Steve
  11. Oooh, now this is difficult. I'm selling up.... all of them, but there are a few I would like to hang on to till the bitter end, and this is one. It has to be one of my all time faves. But, that said and done, I have a M- US issue should you really, desperately, bitterly need to prise it from my hands... Ooooohh Bunny, how I'll miss you but... such is life. Strange how I can let Larry Clinton go, Gene Toones go, Al Williams go but (no disrespect) a two bit 45 that means the world to me...I'm in pain. Someone put me out of my misery. Steve
  12. Awww, C'mon.... surely you would like a nice USA issue in a beautiful picture sleeve ??????????
  13. Pep, What a fitting tribute. Years of listening to emotional and heartfelt soul records have spilled out in your words for Helen. My thoughts are with you Steve Handbury
  14. Hi, This is up for grabs again as the previous prospective buyer could only do Paypal, some thing I dont do. So cash, cheque or transfer only on this please. JD Abram "Doctor Of Love" Reena - Mint copy £150 plus £3 secure post (signed for) SOLD I doubt there is a better example of this record unless it is sat on a Stafford collectors shelf having never seen a turntable. Money back as always, 100% guarantee. PM for further details if necessary Cheers for stopping by Best Steve
  15. Am I missing something here Pete. Are you talking about The Subway Riders "After The Session" as you say on Moonshot. If so, I'm sure it's not a mispress. It's a legit instrumental of Moonlight Music & You... or have I completely misread the previous posts Steve
  16. I sold one on here a few months ago and have noticed quite a few people asking for it. Can I ask why... I just don't think it's that good a record but why the sudden interest. Have I missed something Steve
  17. My thoughts all along but I was being reserved. Youre a cow Ian. Now Moooooove Steve H
  18. Hey Neil, I'll sample that! Best Steve Handbury
  19. Mine used to be Chuck Jackson "I'd fight till I win your love" but then I changed it to Shirley Turner "World of happiness"... then my phone started playing up and it simply doesn't ring . Wife's is Philip Mitchell "I'm so happy"... the dog (our Levi) starts howling every time he hears it. Played him howling to the song to Philip one evening who suggested he might make more money making music for dogs... funny as owt Steve

  21. OK you got me Ady. Had to Google Pre Ignacious... Got Pre Ignatios, religion and all that. Lost On Me! Are you saying that sandals were in fashion at the start of the 100 club or lizard skins??? :D :D :D :D :D Sorry that's the Iguana period Steve
  22. I had a demo in the early eighties. Think it went to to Pat Brady if my memory serves me right along with a Larry Clinton demo and Luther Ingram possibly. Steve
  23. Ady, When you were young you wore deer skin wrap arounds
  24. Pete, The one on the right is the first press. I got (allegedly) the second copy when it started getting plays and as it was going big which cost me £50 at the time, possibly the only record that I would lose money on if I sold it now. The second run has the bigger type font on the white / red label. Then there's the later true second issue with the red label, remixed slighly and without the "Ooh" in the break towards the end. I've also had a twelve with the red / white label that apparently is non -existent, but its out there along with "Promise" that also got a 12 release. Steve
  25. Hi Salmon, I have a copy of "Laws of love" demo which, from memory I'd put at Ex+ although it is stashed in a box at work and I'm off for a week. Pricewise....????? £85 maybe. You tell me Best Steve
