  1. Over to you Robb
  2. Who was the guy involved in the UK with it. Got Mick Holdsworth in my mind but Im sure thats not right Steve
  3. Actually, youve got me thinking now. I may have a white handwritten UK style. Jees how time plays with the mind
  4. Sorry, don't follow. There was a test press for the UK but in the USA style with no centre, but it was a UK press. There were no US presses of the 45. If you have a white I'd be interested in seeing a scan Best Steve
  5. PLEASE: Ignore who is doing what. Having spoken to one of the people involved I can say that it will be back pretty much as it was. The room layout may have changed to what we knew... but for the better. The music policy will remain the same with no emphasis on any particular genre, in fact you may find that it has diversified to an extent but that is to be confirmed. What I will say is that the people now behind this event are 100% committed to it being a success, in fact even more succesful as far as the paying public goes, than it ever was. One of the problems previously was the number of acts / artists appearing which, although great for us as adoring fans, ate into the budget. The Vibrations appearing is great news, there may be others but, it will not be the showcase as in previous years. That doesn't mean it's going to be any less of a weekender. In fact I feel it will have improved substantially. So get booking and fill yer boots with what has undoubtedly become the best weekender in the Soul calendar.... and no, Im not on commission Steve
  6. If you're gonna listen to "Waitin in the rain" make sure it's the Tom Moulton mix,,,,,,,, awesome! Steve
  7. Thanks Robb
  8. Billy, Think I have one in a box somewhere however its gonna be next week when I get to look. Demo if my memory serves me right. Best Steve
  9. As far as I know it never got a 45 release in the US. There are some handwritten white labels of the US style but Im sure they are UK made. There was a US twelve but it was the UK solid centre 45 that got plays (slightly different mix). Got about 20 of the UK 45 left if anyones interested. Steve

  11. I'm sure I went there once. Had a mate who moved over that way. The floor was very much like the Ritz at Brighouse. Sprung, light wood, polished. Went over to see my mate a few times which is where i took in the Locarno and a Club Lafayette night if my memory serves me right. This would have been around 1979 ish. Am I right? There was also some stock car racing at Hednesford if I've got the right place. Oh help.... I can remeber people, records but not places....why? Steve
  12. Yes, the blue issue that's on Popsike, that was the one I sold on e-Bay. I'd had it for many years and was always told how rare it was. Still, it's gone now. Hey ho!!! Steve
  13. The one on Popsike was mine until I sold it to an American collector. It played fine for DJ'ing but looked as rough as ar*eholes. To be honest I thought it may go for a bit more as you just never see issues. Anyhow, I was happy with the outcome. Would love to get one back but as I'm not collecting any more it would hardly be worth it. Steve H
  14. Last ... Lincolnshire, Larst... Bedford / Norfolk / Somerset... Lorst (curly talking country) Stockport, Burnley etc / Lest N Ireland / still a bloody good record no matter what accent she sings in. In fact, she's what I would class as fairly posh having spoken to her. Unlike me, being a mix of Lincolnshire origins and Huddersfield for the last twenty years so ..... Loooaaarssstttt Summer Luv...' appen as much as si thi' Steve
  15. Must agree Sir Pete which is why I said strike it. Nothing wrong with a bit of quality blue eyed soul, nothing wrong at all...... Steve
  16. |Prego...... great record, Italian pop it may be. Rare it is... cheesy it is not. You want cheese and uncollectable then listen to Lenny Gamble, Muriel Day or Lorraine Silver... actually strike that, I quite like Lorraine Silver. Right I'll get me gun Steve
  17. Actually I have misread it. Trev is OK. Don't know who you are intending the transfer to Flanny. Steve
  18. If it is Trevor as in soulman1964 then I will personally vouch for him. If it's a mistaken transfer or whatever, Trev would never diddle you. He's straight. .... Or have I misread this post Steve
  19. Sorry, not read previous posts so i may be totally out of order. As far as I'm concerned, if I have something that will fill the floor, if it is something in vogue or if it's something worthy of a play it goes on the list. The list will vary from venue to venue. It depends on my mood and the crowd on the night. Basically, if you are a DJ, there is no such thing as a play list. You should have enough of a variant to accommodate what is required throughout the night unless the music is specified. The be all and end all is that "what does a playlist mean".... It means a good night if people are intersted in what was aired. Keep them guessing... get them back. If they don't know what it is they are more than likely new or returnees to the scene... and thats how you get them back. What was that that so and so played... where is he DJ'ing again, where can I see him again. Who else will play that. ???? Take you back to the heyday?... I hope so. That's how it is. Northern Soul as a fresh sound is still out there for many, it may have become stale for the few and it may be non existent for those who now rely on the internet, something not uncommon nowadays. It is and never has been a retro scene. It continues to move forward... even though there are those who simply wish to drag it back in time. Let the music move on, let the fashion be fancy dress and let the scene continue in it's fit cause. Steve
  20. Hi Mark, Bit of a long shot but Ian Clark used to have it. I was looking at buying it off him many years ago but never got round to it. It's a bloody hard record to find and one of those where price doesn't come anywhere near it's rarity. Think Ian is on something like www.ianclarkmusic.com Best of luck Great record and when I interviewed Val Simpson she maintained no knowledge of recording the vocal. Steve
  21. WOW....people are selling "Footsee" for £5. Scandalous! Steve
  22. No sussing involved. I'm not trying to be anonymous. I'm stating a feeling. .... and wondering if anyone else feels the same, simple as. Steve Handbury West Yorkshire E-mail and phone number provided if required
  23. There's something called "Bare foot" which apparently is the most natural thing to walk on / in Oooops, jus realised you said Ladies..... I'm sure theyll agree with me. As a bloke then, try Air Wair's.... the ones that lace up to the knee. Keep you comfortable, keep you dry, keep you stable and , the down side, may not make you look like a lady
  24. Actually Roger, as Im sure you are well aware, I've been in the real world since time began Steve
  25. Bugger...waslooking for an 8 ball (black ball) smiley and there isnt one.
