  1. Wombat - only for the true 100mph dancers - just about as fast as it gets - very rarely gets played out especially most of us are that much older - I still remember walking into  1979 Coalville all-nighter buzzing my neck off hearing this and thinking - fuck this is going to be a good night - 👍🏻

  2. Sometimes at events - I brought a few pair of baggies so they use to come with leaflets- I’ve still got my denim baggies and long leather patchwork coat ox blood cost £49 from Dave pink in Cambridge still got the receipt - the patch work denims had one patch where you could stash you’re gear / wrap - also when blazers were worn they usually had a soul badge this was sawn on with white elastic thread - again to slip a deal or a few pills behind 👍🏻👍🏻 Especially if you traveled to South Yorkshire, old bill the worst

  3. Back in 79 named my first boy Dean after him

78 in junk shops in South London picked up a Stateside copy of Determination for 10p

when I met him while touring here I got him to sign my end of an era final night Wigan ticket - very humble man - I truly don’t believe he knew how big he was on the NS scene - RIP and thanks for you’re music 😢

  4. Last time I saw Bub DJ was at Staveley - think it was a miners hall, it was that long ago you could still smoke inside 🤔 - whenever he was on, it lifted the room, always interesting what he was going to say between records, managing to get swear words in that seemed to fit 😂🤣 If you missed Bub DJing you’re loss - one of life’s real big NS characters 👍🏻👍🏻

Please let me know if you find out what "Miracle Love" really is👍

Joey Dee instrumental, which is the side I remember being big, is the tune that goes through my head all the next day after an allnighter, even if it wasn't played!

I played it once once or maybe twice at Birmingham Locarno all dayers in the very early eighties. Always felt it was a bit too fast though.

Cheers Mick - it’s ok till the Mexico pipes come in then comes back strong with the horn section - I’ve asked Brian Rae if he can remember it being played at the casino - 100mph sound with a gram of wizz in you 😉😉 I’ll post if he reply’s 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

  7. 1300 Boulevard Way, Walnut Creek
Walnut Creek is now a very upscale Bay Area suburb--Stephen Curry lives there, for example--but it was not always so. I can recall when there were actually walnut groves. Walnut Creek doesn't really have much of a 60s rock history. Interestingly, however, it all revolves around one place--1300 Boulevard Way.

February 23, 1963 Walnut Creek Hall, Walnut Creek, CA: Bobby Freeman/Wally Cox/The Untouchables
Correspondent Kent found this ancient "boxing-style" poster, for what very well may be Walnut Creek's very first rock show. It was held at The Walnut Creek Hall, at 1300 Boulevard Way. Bobby Freeman had had a huge hit with "Do You Wanna Dance" (no, Jerry Garcia did not play on it, whatever you may have read). The Wally Cox was not the actor, but a singer.

  8. How long before rare soul gets put in the skip ?

Am 62 and can still see me attending soul venues up till I kick the bucket - so hopefully a few years to go.

As to records and values - I’ve never brought a record for investment, so don’t care - but if you look at Tears Leroy Decca Demo brought at the casino in 77/78 - for £20 which is worth about £113 in today’s money - I guess selling it today for £113.50p am ahead of the game - win win 👍🏻
