  1. Great hearing from people who were there at the time / and an important part of the history - top man 👏🏻👏🏻 Always find past experiences and knowledge fascinating - as what was acceptable back then and how people behaved would be blown up on social media today in a second
  2. The other bits - that no one likes talking about Wigan drug squad tried endlessly to shut the Casino Breaking in to chemists to fuel the Casino was everywhere Selling of drugs around the country - and links from one chemist getting screwed to another - Barbiturates in mass from East Anglian sold to Scotland Thursday nights when you use to get you’re brown cash pay packet - easy muggings to feed the Soul habit Pills silver wraps - everywhere it was a free for all - Welsh drug suppliers feeding the Scene. I remember seeing on the balcony at the Casino a Welsh supplier with the roll neck jumper on I said - bet ur hot - he lifted up his jumper to show a rounders bat , snapped in two - as he had discussions with some Bolton lads. How many people took gear - A coach typically would seat 52 people - it was not uncommon that 53 people took gear - yes the coach driver as well 🤣😂 but that’s another story

Mush is pronounced 'Moosh' and means mate or friend. You can expect to hear it around the city. It can be traced back to the old Romany word meaning 'my good friend'. or This is a local Southampton colloquialism although sometimes borrowed by other areas of the UK as well as claims emanating from the Romany language. Some historians relate the friendly term deriving from the Middle Ages when French ships docked at the port with the word 'Monsieur' abbreviated to 'Mush'.25 Oct 2022

  11. Looking forward to seeing you guys - and spinning a few oldies - with a few Motown mixed in for Mr King 👍🏻
  12. Being bored with too much time on my hand I looked in the reel to reel section on e bay - there's a lot of Motown on there if you like collecting, just coz its Motown - however came across this - which looks like its been over taped - but as Motown collectors have way too much spare money - would be great to collet for £18 just for the box ?? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/225687658956?hash=item348c0861cc:g:c-8AAOSwaQhkoFes&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA8AuatL%2FW9RhGDpBmUvLsd9%2FckpQZgHLY1FI87JwdhAB7YCvnoyjXvAjL%2BMCKrEt1Wkm7ykTt469aRLLzeGkE2Di5y3tc9TncrfAZBrivXYB5O0uTo%2F3qYaFqgtSjGNQhW%2BU0%2FCEJV9jrOeg%2BwansQ2LuO%2F%2FmLqTJtCkjz7q%2FyhNJxQEDFWl12ag3MdY0UPOWFRc2Go6CvFqCxtGbT9gz%2FBS2u2t3Swx074BwEHqvJkUkH0hW2srJ6zmj8GJMpp0Qp6iWOAn92ro6lfIngRVsf2lyBQXzYMEqE8FmvLsJ1GaqXBzvrKbLfMPVsbV782MGGQ%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR8S0psezYg
  13. Thanks Roburt for posting although I didn’t know his past history / name swap or even his music - I always find it interesting some of the huddles these singers back in the 60ts went through - very informative- I’ll now you tube his records - cheers
  14. I hardly ever saw a singer who performed his songs in a way that was faithful to their original recording. Since 1975 - the two live acts who just blew me away in passion performance and sounding - close or better to the original recording was Jnr Walker at St Ives All-nighter 76/77. & Edwin Starr various venues - however I was seriously speeding my nuts off 🤣😂
  15. Sent PM
  16. Maconie was born in Whiston.[6] He was raised in Prescot, Merseyside.
  17. Stuart Maconnie Born in 1961 Casino shut in 81 - he was 20 🤔 and never went in his home town ? guess that would answer why the 3 before 8 were round the wrong way 🤣😂
  18. James was well know in the Huntingdon/ Oxmoor estate late 70ts - Kev Draper / Kipross / Johnny Fingers all knew James he use to find the odd gem in London searching junk shops back in the day - am sure him and his dad got caught up in cattle rustling - one thing for sure he never took speed 🤔🤔
  19. James use to live with his dad at Abbots Ripton nr Huntingdon - kind of a bit eccentric - saw him get through to the semi finals of the dancing competition at the Wirrina once which more like having a fit - yes in thouse days 77-78 you could take the piss without having a metal breakdown - people use to nick his record’s especially at Wigan so he use to put sting through the middles - that was fine until someone cut the string - lost a lot of records at Huntingdon railway station for unpaid storage fee
  20. Looks a good hall - gotta want £300 to hire 18:00 - midnight - need 60 people in to clear 120 = £600 - £300 for the hall - £300 for DJs / hire eqt / registered door staff x 3 / question I would ask who takes the bar takings 🤔🤔
  21. We put our Ellie to sleep about 2 months ago - we loved and enjoyed her over 16 years - it will hit you like a train, time is a slight healer but your’ll never forget Taff - you have the memories and the love you gave and shared - feel for you 😢
