  1. LArmstrong - anything you want to know in detail between the late 60ts through the 70ts 80ts in relation to NS - there are experts on here, detail like real detail - because they weee there - just post and ask - without pissing up Mikes back (he runs SS) this site has to be the most knowledgeable site on the net .

enjoy you’re research - you might want to look on the site pictures Wigan to see what people were wearing and videos - all good fun 👍🏻👍🏻

  2. Paul - don’t bite mate, imagine thinking / being part of something that you fully don’t understand / was never there / and impossible to duplicate due to social media / phones / cameras and dare I say No smoking / let alone scoring gear / ODing and genuinely looking after you’re mates without stabbing them in the back - just to make you look good   On various social media posts - I say poor them - we were in that scene that era 1975 - 1989 and still going today - they cant take away our memories, love for the music or more importantly our opinion 👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Interesting  as I remember getting  photographed but can't place when

We thought  at the time it was the DS

🤣😂- What about the time you did two nighters on the trot Fri & Sat then thought the DS were following you home - all the way from Wigan or Wakefield- back to Huntingdon- then peering out the window through the nets to see if they’ve gone 🤪🤪😳😳😳😳😳😳😳

    🤣😂

An old mate, Mickie Taylor, had a T-Shirt especially printed to wear at Wigan. It said "RIKA LIKE-A"!

This moment in time was caught on camera (on the left hand side). I'm not sure they would have been on sale at Blackpool

    Hi Wiggy

You are totally right about the bouncers being in Crown court the week before the all-nighters started I was one of them, It caused d a fallout at the time with Gerry Marshall the manager and owner of the club, as a result indirectly it resulted in RW and Mike Walker  being projected into the Casino hall of fame I’ve spoke to Chalky aka Karl at length  about this story, trust me it’s true, but let’s leave the memories as they are and move on ,I was also a patron of the Room at the Top a much more underground soul club at the time running arable leith the wheel 1965 to 68, it was Mr M.s formally the Palais . Had more cabaret on , the Empress ballroom when big acts were on Little Richard , Edwin S , Jimmy R.etc etc as a rule who ever performed at Wigan performed at Bolton Casino the same night or a week later the same consortium owned both clubs till Gerry took sole ownership of Wigan in 1972 when the Palais became Mr M,s or Mr Marshall Gerry,s second name, Soul music and soul groups had been played at the Casino from the mid 1960,s more so  since the closure of the Room at the top in 1968 69,

Great hearing from people who were there at the time / and an important part of the history - top man 👏🏻👏🏻 Always find past experiences and knowledge fascinating - as what was acceptable back then and how people behaved would be blown up on social media today in a second

  6. The other bits - that no one likes talking about

Wigan drug squad tried endlessly to shut the Casino

Breaking in to chemists to fuel the Casino was everywhere

Selling of drugs around the country - and links from one chemist getting screwed to another - Barbiturates in mass from East Anglian sold to Scotland

Thursday nights when you use to get you’re brown cash pay packet - easy muggings to feed the Soul habit

Pills silver wraps - everywhere it was a free for all - Welsh drug suppliers feeding the Scene.

I remember seeing on the balcony at the Casino a Welsh supplier with the roll neck jumper on I said - bet ur hot - he lifted up his jumper to show a rounders bat , snapped in two - as he had discussions with some Bolton lads.

How many people took gear - A coach typically would seat 52 people - it was not uncommon that 53 people took gear - yes the coach driver as well 🤣😂 but that’s another story

  7. Mush is pronounced 'Moosh' and means mate or friend. You can expect to hear it around the city. It can be traced back to the old Romany word meaning 'my good friend'.

    or

This is a local Southampton colloquialism although sometimes borrowed by other areas of the UK as well as claims emanating from the Romany language. Some historians relate the friendly term deriving from the Middle Ages when French ships docked at the port with the word 'Monsieur' abbreviated to 'Mush'.25 Oct 2022

It certainly would Stephen - it would take a massive win! We could maybe do with a few rich mates willing to club together & bail it out......how many millionaires do you know? 'Fraid I don't think I know any unless they're keeping it secret lol.

    Millionaires

Craig Charles is an English actor, comedian, author, poet, DJ, and television presenter who has a net worth of $2.5 million.

Stuart Maconie Networth 2023  2.85 Million - plus maybe tap

John Manship & Kev Roberts up 🤔

  9. I hardly ever saw a singer who performed his songs in a way that was faithful to their original recording.

Since 1975 - the two live acts who just blew me away in passion performance and sounding - close or better to the original recording was

Jnr Walker at St Ives All-nighter 76/77. & Edwin Starr various venues - however I was seriously speeding my nuts  off 🤣😂
