Long time ago - hitched a lift from Sheffield station on my own - two girls pull up in a vw bug one jumps in the back - can't remember how We got round to it but said ain't you scared of the Yorkshire ripper , with that the girl in the back pulled out a claw hammer from under the seats and said no we have this - they dropped me off at the roundabout just outside town. So am walking through town where's Clifton hall I ask two old bill, up the hill / what's in your bag / they search the bag and find some Mogadom caps 50 - they take me to the police station count the caps out on the table - put them back in the bottle then said there's 60 in there if we see you in the morning we're count them again and there needs to be 50 - I said I might have one in the morning they said ok 49. cliffton hall had steel posts around the dance floor must have been supporting a small balcony or something am sure - shit long time ago See the guys in pics behind them steel posts and other pic balcony/ am not going mad

Would have thought they would have got the piano down the side alley (it slopes down) and up 2 flights of stairs onto the same level as the dance floor - then lifted it up onto the stage - if your standing with the record bar behind you it would have been right hand side of the stage.

First met Mick back in 77/78 when Ken Cox was running the Wirrina before he went to the fleet - got on the train at London I guess after reading the thread Chris was with him - he was still in the RAF - after chatting to him I asked what he did - am sure he said signals - I then said what do you do - "can't tell you as we've signed the official secrets act " - the rest of the trip was taken up we me asking for just one secret even a small one - am sure he told me something just to shut me up - it passed the time - Saw Mick a few times after that at the Fleet nighters and St Ives Dayers we always talked about how we first met, remember his golf dark green I think - one of the good Soul guys RIP Mick.

The music pioneer was 90 years old and although he didn’t invent Rock n Roll all alone, he had quite an influence on every artist from the Beatles and Rolling Stones to Bruce Springsteen during his amazing career. He was the ‘whole package’ in the 50s rock world because he could write great songs as well as sing and play guitar (just like he was ringing a bell). Thinking about his library a bit more, I realize that Chuck sang about cars as a major story element in the majority of his hot songs. So the guy comes home only to see his wife's bloody body in the kitchen at this point the tune kicks in - he cradles his wife's head while tears fall down his face - he sees a screwed up match strike on the floor from the local biker bar - at this point he goes into the garage loads up with shot guns in each arm and Mexican type belts round both shoulders - as the music starts to fade he's seen walking down the street towards the bar - maybe chewing a big cigar, dressed in combats and a long coat , not sure about a hat - on a more serious note I would say it is soulful however too slow, except for a smooch at the end of the night

90 years old, well you can't say he ain't lived life to the full - RIP Chuck Saw Chuck about 20 years ago at a concert in Florida which would make him about 70 years old then, the guy was still full on, sweating running around , doing that guitar dance with the one leg, duck walk - true legend and an influential guy to the music business.
