  1. Back in 79 when I first started DJing to cue the records you could either use the lights that flicker or head phones if you went past the start of the record you pick the needle up and start again - till your happy - I still use that method in 2025 - hey guess what it works I saw a young guy take to the decks after me who put the record on and then cued it back - my advice “your gonna duck that record and needle up” he looked t me as if to say “ I know better”
  2. blast from the past - stomper / shuffler
  3. 7 May 2025, 10:30 BST Four anonymous housekeepers are suing Motown legend Smokey Robinson for $50 million (£37 million), accusing him of sexual assault. A complaint filed in Los Angeles superior court accuses the 85-year-old of sexual battery, false imprisonment, negligence and gender violence, in addition to a number of labour violations related to wages, breaks, meal times and overtime pay. The lawsuit also names Robinson's wife, Frances Robinson, claiming she contributed to a hostile work environment, and used "ethnically pejorative words and language". Jane Does 1, 3 and 4 all allege Robinson sexually assaulted them in the "blue bedroom" of his Chatsworth residence, claiming he would lay down a towel to protect the bed sheets prior to the assaults. Jane Doe 2's allegations state that Robinson raped her in the laundry room and garage of his Chatsworth residence, where closed-circuit cameras were unable to see.
  4. First played St Ives 1977 but played out everywhere when it went big
  5. 1983 old write up with SS Sunday 1st May (Bank Holiday weekend) sees the promised marathon ‘Ritz Revival’ alldayer at Manchester’s Rotters with living legends Ian Levine, Colin Curtis & Richard Searling spinning ’70s soul before at midnight switching into an allniter situation with the addition of Northern Soul pioneers Tony Jebb, Les Cokell, Kev Roberts & Simon Soussan plus two as yet unspecified US acts (veterans of the Mirwood label looking likely) — now that is one that I’ll definitely try to get to! . . . Ian Levine is currently donning suit and tie and lugging all his records across town to do “up market semi-gay” Sundays at Kensington High Street’s Gardens, kinda like New York’s Studio 54 before it became ultra-commercial,

  10. Knew Chis & Harry back in the day (76) pre DEMOB days - Chris was always the calm one , I remember Harry on the balcony at the Casino with a roll neck top on - I said ain’t you hot which he pulled his jumper up to show a rounders bat in his belt as he was on the hunt for a non payer 🤣😂 Last time I saw Chris would be about 88 at the Scrubs he was on remand for allegedly setting fire 🔥 to something - I still talk to his brother on what’s app - great bloke, now he could tell you some crazy stories 🤔🤔🤣😂

  13. I remember hearing this at St Ives around 76/77 but know where else - one of those came and gone sounds - always reminded me of James Bond theme
  14. Number stamped plus R I brought this back in 1978 for £5 major St Ives sounds back in 1976/77
  15. RIP big man - you’re music will live on 🥲
  16. Back at the Casino record bar area when I first started collecting around 75/76 - although I never knew SS his name along with a major record dealer got the blame for every new pressing , bootleg etc. A new sound would be played by a DJ and bang the following week pressings we’re getting knocked out at £5 a shot - and everyone would go effing SS again or the other guy - the feeling I always got was they weren't welcome, with people mumbling the usual - “if they come down here, there’ll get it”. Looking back I am sure they got the blame for some pressings and bootlegs - that had nothing to do with them - very convenient for other people to pass the blame 🤔
  17. Just as a side note the image attached is the closest I could find - I can’t remember a score line in the pills they were solid - the specks on the picture were darker in real life and odd shapes - when walking around with the pills for a few minutes in ur pocket loose and with you’re sweaty hands in you’re pockets - yes it did turn you’re fingers blue 😂🤣
  18. Paul Strychnine Blues - usually called blueys then you would ask were they Stychnine Blues - 50p each - buzz was the word but not great for dancing also if you sat down you kind of couldn’t be bothered to get up - but you were off ur head - I took 6 at Yate once not clever sat at a table all night blocked while people rushed around finding me sleeping tabs or babs to bring me down. they were only sold for about 6 - 8 months great for pub beer heads - Sulphate was in short supply - however when the next batch came through (usually the Welsh connection) thouse Strychnine Blues faded out - we still talk about them today and the thermos flask which was stashed with them buried in a garden somewhere big give away was white foam at the edge of ur mouth 😂🤣 😳Eyes open like really open Approx year 77 - I use to knock them out to the local pub - Hells Angles loved them rumoured to contain rat poison

  21. Back in the 80ts I use to attend the KGB on numerous times - remember arriving at Sheffield station at night and trying to find the club pre Google which was daunting 😳😳 I remember internally sitting on the floor and couldn’t understand why the bloke on the other side kept looking at me , I looked away then looked at him again - it was then I discovered mirrors were on one side 😂🤣 sent me paranoid as f&£@ They say never wish for what you want one night they had a 100% Motown night - trust me at 5 in the morning and listening to This old heart of mine for the 10th time ain’t no fun - then you had the long walk back to the station - one of life’s growing up experiences 👍🏻
