Why don't you post a sound file up if you have the said record, your decks cant have been packed away if you have listened to the tune and going to have another listen to it. I herd the tune for the first time last night and to be honest i think its great, some would disagree with me but hey we cant all like the same things can we. I get sick n tired of reading your put downs of Ian, what have you contributed to this scene of ours ? So come on as you have the record post it up n stop having a go at some one who has done loads for this scene, and has got more passion about what he does now as he did 30+ years ago. .................. Who are you, their spokesperson? manager? whats up have they lost the use of there fingers?. Listen we are out of pocket and i think we have a right to know what the circumstances are and i dont think its wrong to expect them to come on here and explain themselves because the questions i was asking 4 weeks ago wasnt far wrong was they ..............

It is with great disappointment and regret that we have had to take the decision to announce the cancellation of "The Northern Soul & Motown" All-dayer featuring "LITTLE ANTHONY & THE IMPERIALS" & "RUBY ANDREWS" Scheduled for "Monday 13th April 2009" due to circumstances beyond our control... We would also like to add that this was in no way related to any form of breakdown between ourselves & the aforementioned artistes... The non appearance is a result of the cancellation of the event... how does there post make it quite clear, i think its quite clear that they havent told the truth,as Robs post shows and i think people should be able to ask them perfectly reasonable questions on here an expect an ans, i dont think there is anything wrong in that. Id like to know what circumstances they were as well

Reg What I'm saying is long b4 LAI were mentioned, which was only 4 weeks ago, they must have sold enough tickets for the dayer to have the Falcons and Ruby on so even without the Falcon or LAI they could have still carried on with the dayer with maybe just Ruby for those people who were going in the first instance, plus those that had ended up getting tickets to see LAI and paid for hotels B&B etc could have chose to either still go and make a day of it rather than loose money from the hotel or asked for a refund, to tell people that the event had been canceled due to circumstances beyond there control and not because they couldn't pay the Artist's is really taking the easy way out. The best thing they could have done is held there hands up and say so, I don't think anyone would have given them the hard time they are now getting, because at the end of the day it was a mammoth task for any one to take on in six weeks, even the big boys, but at least people could have still chose to either go or not as was the case beforehand.
-
Thats what I'm saying, even though we wasn't going until LAI were mentioned i don't think the whole dayer was about LAI because it was all booked b4 LAI were mentioned 4 weeks ago so how come that they arnt coming has changed the fact that its all been canceled. There are a few on here said they bought tickets just for reunion so whats changed other than LAI surely Ruby could have still come. [quote name='SteveJohnston' date='Mar 20 09, 03:27 PM' post='102935 I would still go with no LAI the Falcons or Ruby! Steve J

What i can't understand is just because LAI arnt now coming ,why the whole event had to be canceled, their must have been enough sales of tickets beforehand to be bringing the Falcon and Ruby over ?surely the whole event didn't evolve in the last 6 weeks around LAI were coming, they were anafter thought after all.and people who bought tickets in the first place like you said was for the reunion or the fact they wonted to see the Falcons or Ruby. I myself wasn't in the running for the alldayer as we had plans for another venue closer to home that didn't involve a stay overnight in a hotel, but like others when we herd LAI were appearing we booked hotels and made arrangements around it, but them not coming still doesn't add up to why they have canceled the whole thing. Although they are now not appearing we probs would have still gone to the dayer because we have booked n paid for the hotel, and from the conversations iv had with others who bought tickets to see LAI they said the same at the end of the day we took a chance it didn't come of but at least they wouldn't have been out of pocket.

I don't think there is any back biting, just serious and valid concerns from genuine soul fans and indeed, LAI fans. There were many events that we could have gone to on Easter Monday but we chose the LAI because we want to see them as it is an opportunity we couldn't miss. We, like many others though, have concerns. Why wasn't the event planned further in advance. Why wasn't it confirmed with the group sooner and why wasn't it publicised to maximize ticket sales which would be both beneficial to not only the appearing artists, but also the promoters. promoters who put on events of this magnitude, and believe me, this is as big as it gets, would have had this organised 8 to 12 months inadvance. Messrs Searling, Roberts, Grady and the Prestatyn crew work from year to year, not a few weeks. Advertising in magazines, flyers and pre event tickets are there for all to see and buy months in advance. Admittedly, this is a new and maybe one off event, even more of a case of cross the t's and dot the i's before even mentioning anything. If you live in the Nottingham area, it is 15 quid and a bit of beer money. For those traveling from further afield, anywhere else in the UK and indeed, as in T Bones case, from Oz, its far more than 15 quid. 2 tickets for us, a hotel, petrol and beer money makes for an expensive day out compared to what we would have spent going to a local event. Nothing would give us more pleasure than seeing the legendary group in action for the first time in 30 years as far as a European audience is concerned. I hope, for them and the fee paying public it is up to expectations. I can think of nothing worse than a group coming over here and being disappointed with the organization and response that they never return when their appearance could have been so different. Hopefully it won't be that way and we will all get to witness something that compares to OR even exceeds the Dells at Trentham. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that should have been set in concrete months ago and would not have generated the negativity and questions it has. We will be there and we will enjoy the whole LAI experience, as will everyone who has booked tickets, I'm sure.

I didn't say they couldn't sell another 1500 tickets what i said was how would this work, in a earlier post it was said that if all the tickets sold out they had the option to sell another 1500 tickets for people to watch on big screen's or did i read it wrong, and to me that would have caused a riot esp with the first 1500 peeps who bought tickets, it seems people cant voice there worries without it being called bitching, also if it was suggested in Nov why is it only 6 weeks to go that you have Finlay gone for them, and dropped the falcons, if it wasn't just a last min thing you could have had them all.
