Some friends of mine are into rock n roll, wear full circle skirts and suade shoes, and i laugh at them but i have to say they are no diff from some people i know, the baggy trouser full circle skirt brigade, been there done that 30+ years ago. I had my kids who are in ther 30's watching, they phoned me up and laughed saying '' no way did u wear that'' did say it was years ago but they pissed then selves laughing '' why do people still wear it then ?'' and to be honest i laughed too but to be honest , how come the ones who dress in normal fashion dont get a look in on the film they were nearly all wearing fashions from back in the casino days I think it has something to do with the amount of time you took out while having familys n such, but as i never did leave mabe thats why my fashion changed not having to relive my past youth ............ JMHO

As you may all be aware, Benny Troy will be appearing at the Prestatyn weekender in March. Unfortunately, for those aware of his repertoire, Benny has been given two songs to sing in the set. His talents extend way beyond just two songs. Consider the album "Two Ships In The Night"... there are at least three other tracks on the album other than "I Wanna Give You Tomorrow" that fit very nicely into the northern and modern scene. There's also the track he recorded with Maze "I Don't Know You Anymore" along with many others.................. Benny will be available. for about a month post Prestatyn for more intimate gigs where he will be able to perform a more extensive catalogue of his songs. He is already booked in Rotherham with other potential gigs in Nottingham and Cambridge. Are there any other promoters out there who would like to put him on for a soul night or all-nighter? Alternatively, is anyone able to offer a mid-week gig on a meet and greet basis where he could possibly do a question and answer session along with a meal and maybe a track thrown in on PA for good measure? Time is of the essence as they say and I would like to really get things under way. Thanks for your time and please PM me if you have any interest. Thanks

Actually , spoke to Little Anthony Wed night and as far as they are concerned things aren't signed and sealed, he said there was a discussion a while back were Clarence and David couldn't agree on a few things,and that's were it was left, he was quite shocked when i told him that they were on the flyer as appearing and had me send them it. I wonder who els is on there that isn't actual y appearing, i know Brenda Holloway is deffo appearing :-))

Cant understand why all the animosity towards her, at the end of the day there's quite a few artists out there who's voices have gone, In there time I'm sure they all thought they were better than the next artist, but credit were its due,we all bought the records because they were brilliant tunes and had voices to die for The woman's 63/4 years old for goodness sake I'm sure my voice has changed over the years who would dare tell her she no longer can sing, not me that's for sure she and many others have given me years of pleasure through there music .Instead of patting her on the back after a show maybe you should tell her how you really feel but i doubt anyone would have the balls to do that.People are very good sat behind a screen moaning about this n that then they go and see an artist, get to meet them and go,Ooo that was great loved you you were brilliant, then slag them of on places like this. We should embrace the Artists we have left not slate them.and enjoy the music they gave us over the last 30 - 40 years or so without them we wouldn't have a soul scene.

Hi Jayne No you didn't miss a thing, as i said in my previous post to Catfish to reread what Steve had actually wrote before jumping in, there was never any mention about anyone editing the magazine, gets me how anyone can edit anything if they don't read it properly in the first place lol.

The people that write articles for manifesto do a brill job they dont get paid for it they do for the love of the music,most have day jobs and family's, and put a lot of time and effort into what they write, if you dont like what they write dont read it simple realy, half the people on here, that have never been to a soul venue in years and that sit behing there computer tip tapping and slagging the efforts of others piss me off, mabe you shoul get out a bit more venture into the half filled venues up n down the country and help keep the soul scene alive instead of killing it with your nasty negativity.

Were in his post does it say you will take over the magazine, and promis to run it for 9+ years, I think you need to re-read what he actualy said just like you didnt look at who the orig post was aimed at it didnt have your name on the heading or am i mistaken

Have got to agree, have been to the last 2 and ov all the weekenders over the year, this is the one i most look forward to. its like one big family party great music and even better are the people who make this such a brilliant weekend, and as you say its all FREE But i would like to say that the day starts in the york 1pm - 2.00am friday 10am till 2.00pm sat then moves to smokeys 1.00pm - 1.30am then sunday its 10am till 1am back in the york
