  1. Personally, i think The Temptations version is simply the dogs dangly bits and my favourite version

  4. "Papa Was A Rolling Stone" by the Temptations has to be a candidate and the best 15 second intro ever has to be The Four Perfections "I'm Not Strong Enough"
  5. My older brother was a mod circa 1980's and i started listening (wether i wanted to or not) to what he was playing (The Jam, The Who, Small Faces etc.). Then he started buying Soul records (Otis Redding, Temptations, James Brown etc.) which i liked but not loved but it was the day he brought home a compilation l.p. called "Out On The Floor" that my journey into this madness began. Frank Beverly's "If That's What You Wanted" came booming out of the speakers and once i heard that i was hooked for life so my brother and Frank Beverly got me into Soul music.
  6. Hello "Pikey's Dog" (great avatar by the way) and thanks for your time and input. You make some great valid points and as i mentioned before, i agree with your thoughts. The seller has agreed to refund me but that still remains to be seen. My whole point of this appeal is that 'IF' the guy is telling the truth about shipping the record to the wrong address, then somebody has the actual record which is what i REALLY want. As mentioned already, 'IF' the record was sent to somebody else on here, then i'm simply just appealing to their better nature to get in touch with me.
  7. C'mon people, somebody somewhere out there knows the whereabouts of these records!!!!!!
  8. Cheers for the opinions, i do agree with you and it has just been confirmed by the seller that he will give me a refund but the point i was making really is that i want the actual record so if somebody actually did receive it, i was appealing to their better nature to get in touch with me (a long shot i know but somebody out there has a record that i paid for).
  9. Just some more info.... There was 10 records sold by the seller "Kevin J" at the same time so that's a 9 possible buyers that this record MAY have went to, please help if you can!
  10. Hello all, not too sure if this is the right place for this but here goes : Let's start from the beginning. Over 2 months ago i bought a copy of the Epitome of Sound 45 "You Don't Love Me" through this site from a member called Kevin J. As many of you know, the guy was not exactly fast with mailing that actual record (and other 45's) and this resulted in the guy getting slated on this site. I also posted a thread called "Another Dodgy Seller" about this guy and was pointed in the right direction by some members on here. Anyway, after a month of trying to get in touch with the guy and trying (unsuccessfully) to get my money back through Paypal, i eventually tracked the guy down through another site. As it turns out, he actually mailed the record but to the wrong address. He can prove that it was mailed and reached it's destination but the UPS site does not state where it was 'ACTUALLY' delivered. So, is it possible that some member on here (who bought from the same guy at the same time) received a FREE copy of this record in the mail. Is so, could you PLEASE get in touch with me.
  11. I got the shivers even reading this post. I absolutely love it when the whole dancefloor just gets it right. A big 'clapper' and one of my favourites is Gene Woodbury's "Ever Again" when he sings the bit "I know i won't be lonely (clap, clap, clap) ever again". We still like our clapping at the "Sleepless Nights" club in Dublin
  12. Cheers for the responses and input, at least i know i'm not alone. It's just a shame that sad wankers like this exist Any other record dealings that i have done through this site have been perfect and i was quite surprised to be honest that this one went so sour as i assumed that if the guy is a Soul Source member, he must be o.k. Anyway, at least he's exposed so please avoid this guy at all costs!!!!!!
  13. Cheers Pete, is there a link or can you point me in the right direction?
  14. Not sure if this is the right place but it was a record sale so here goes. Has anybody on here ever bought a record from Soul Source member "Kevin J"? I handed him over $110 of my hard earned cash over six weeks ago for a record that he advertised for sale on here and still have not received it. I got in touch with him just over 2 weeks ago and he responded and assured me that it was on it's way and should be with me any day now. Guess what, still no record and he's now not responding to my e-mails. I paid through Paypal so this has now escalated to a claim and he's still not responding. Anybody on here had any dealings with this guy?
  15. Stunning track, the whole l.p. is amazing, actually gonna go and play the album right now!!
  16. I've also had a 7" record delivered from the U.S.A. in a standard 10" square pizza box (just stuck to the box with a bit of tape) and it survived the journey.
  17. Cheers Pete, spine tingling stuff, a definate thumbs up from me
  18. Noticed this myself, i think the Wand 45 recording is far superior, much more oomph! I would guess that when going through the Wand masters, the actual single mix (wand 45) couldn't be found so this mix had to be used instead for the Kent compilation. Do i win £10?
  19. Bought a lovely issue copy of Cajun Hart "Got To Find A Way" many moons ago from a very well known dealer and during playback. i heard some loud pops. After phoning said dealer and arguing about it's condition (you claimed it was mint etc. etc.) i then noticed what was 'actually' after happening. The customs had opened the package for inspection and instead of taping it back up, the lazy bastards stapled the package closed and yes you've guessed it, it went straight through and hit the vinyl On the plus side it plays through ok and because it was insured, i got my money back and got to keep the record I know that's not really a broken record story as such so to balance it up, i once received a record in the mail broken in about 20 pieces with a tyre track on the packaging
  20. Jesus, a grand! can't be worth that much, i paid £20 for my copy (can't remember exactly where or when but i'm full sure it was at an allnighter in Stoke or Blackpool) but then again, i've never seen it listed or even on Evilbay so who knows these days.
  21. I know this doesn't actually help your quest but i've had this record for years (first heard it on a dodgy compilation l.p. that a mate of mine brought back from the U.S.). Always loved both sides of the record but always too scared to play it out. I heard it at a Middleton allnighter recently and it just blew me away hearing it being played on a decent system in the right environment etc. Out of interest, what is it's current value? Hope you find a copy soon, you've got good taste
  22. I'm in the same category as Andy (grew up in the arse end of Ireland!). I thank my older brother for being a mod and buying the "Out On The Floor" compilation which featured Frank Beverly & The Butlers "If That's What You Wanted". When i heard that, everything made sense. This directed me to this beautiful music and to venues in Dublin and the U.K. Even though i was too busy playing with my toys while you were experiencing this weird and wonderful scene, i still feel lucky to be found by this music.
