  1. Another purchase for me then, totally in agreement that Kent compilations are simply the dogs dangly bits! I was educated on them and still collect them with a passion.
  2. Personally, i think it's a great record, liked it since i heard it on the afore mentioned New Orleans Funk compilation. I didn't even know that it was being covered up or even played on the Northern Soul scene until i heard it at Middleton and it sounded great on a big sound system. Just because some people don't agree that it "belongs" at a Northern night doesn't mean that it's actually a crap piece of music.
  3. Wow, LEWIS CLARK "I NEED YOU BABY" - bargain of the list!! Somebody steal this immediatly!! (brilliant flip side as well).
  4. Wow, superb stuff! Right, i'm off to buy the album, thanks for the tip!
  5. I think membership cards are the answer. There's nothing worse than some drunken idiot taking the piss out of you on the dance floor. I kinda liked the idea of breaking a chair over their heads
  6. Sunday morning bump for this. Go on, you know you want to!
  7. Prices "include" Paypal fees and postage. JEAN STANBACK - "IF I EVER NEEDED LOVE" (Peacock) near mint - £75 THE ADMIRALS - "SAWMILL" (Pulse) ex - £30 or BOTH for £100. pm if interested
  8. The 'very' same thing happened to me recently when i also purchased an l.p. from the U.S. I was very pleasantly surprised that there still is some decent honest sellers out there!
  9. Thanks for that Pete, the version i'm used to is from those "Northern Soul Story" compilations that were put out by Soul Supply (awful quality but served their purpose in educating me).
  10. Hello all, been re-discovering this amazing tune on a dodgy compilation l.p. and would like some info about it if possible. Was it only ever released on a dodgy pressing? If so, what is the quality like and is it worth getting hold of? Thank you in advance.
  11. I agree with 'Haydn", i use toweling cloths (a top tip from a major record dealer no less!) and find them brilliant. These can be found in shops where they sell baby products.
  12. (/quote) I consider myself a Soul fan and dont get wrapped up too often in boring scene politics as quite frankly there are much more interesting things happening in the real world. When I do go out to a nighter or event it is to dance, hear tunes that pick me up, have the crack with nice people but not be stuck in a corner intellectualising about the "scene" and judging people for their personal tastes in music. I just ignore any sh1t and dont get involved in it. Its boring and life is too short.
  13. Yeh, the MR stamped one is the one i have, what's it worth?
  14. Hello good people. Forgive me if this has been covered before (as i was probably day dreaming) but does anyone know how to tell the difference between the original pressing of The International GTO's "I Love My Baby" and the re-press (using the same label). Thank you in advance.
  15. Thanks for all your input everybody, i think i'll conclude that both of them are originals unless someone can tell me otherwise. Absolutely love "Lost Someone" from this l.p. (main reason that i bought it!) and absolutely love the gatefold picture of the man himself, fuuuuuuuuuuuuuunky!!!
  16. Cheers Dave, i noticed the 'cut and paste' type label but i have a James Brown 45 that looks like that as well. Just to add to the confusion, both lp's have that 'sterling' stamp that you mentioned in the run out grooves.
  17. Wow, that is good, damn good!!!! Below is scans of both labels, hope this sheds some light.
  18. Cheers Steve, hope everything is well with you. The l.p. that was scanned is the same as the copy that i bought on eBay but the other copy i have has James wearing a hat and "The Godfather Of Soul" written underneath it. I will "try" and put up a scan later on but have never done this so any tips would be appreciated
  19. Thanks for responses, almost certain there is a Re-issue, both lp's that i own have the same serial numbers on sleeve and labels and both were manufactured in the U.S.A. but labels are very different. Thanks for the tips on the other James Brown tracks Liam, i'll check 'em out!
  20. Hello good people of Soul Source, hope you can help me with the following issue. I have 2 copies of the James Brown l.p. "Hell". The labels are different on each one so i need to know which one is original (or are they both original)? Both are on the Red Polydor label. First one (bought from a reputable dealer) has James Brown's face on label wearing a hat with "James Brown Godfather Of Soul" written underneath it. Second one (bought on eBay) has the familiar James Brown face on label without hat and "Godfather Of Soul" slogan. Any info greatly appreciated!
