Des of soul inc. has probably the best listing. Using clips of the actual records and his prices ain't bad either.
-
There are a couple of sellers whose lists I can't see every single time, and I do persevere but have to give up on. Randy and Sebk. I am in favour of hearing the actual records for sale, not you tube clips of someone else's, as there is a wide difference in grading especially when vg+Is used. No one can know every record so it's useful for that too.

Swarf is a residue of cutting something, usually metal. When your stylus is dragged across the groove it displaces some of the vinyl, most of which is lost, but the edge of the groove has a cut across it that catches on the stylus as it goes round. This is what causes the click. The actual information in the groove is usually undamaged as it's lower down. Your problem sounds more like static.
-
I use an artists bristle brush as the record is playing. Any scratches are usually on the top of the surface and the swarf is pulled across the groove. By using the brush it can often remove the swarf from the path of the needle, which is what causes the clicks etc. much less invasive than sandpapering the surface!

The question is, does he have the master tapes and is there a chance it might get a re-issue?

New Cratesofsoul 45 - Wilson Williams Double Sider - Out Nov 3rd
Lovemusic commented on Glynthornhill's article in News Archives
Great tracks. Great first release. Can't wait to see what Glyn does next! Also a nice label design, although I'd've prefferd a solid centre, or even better the pop out centres of old. But that's just me:) -

Rick Foster 'one Of The North West's Finest' Rip

It's a cruel world that takes away lifes good un's but leaves people that aren't worthy to shine Ricks shoes. RIP Rick. I'll miss that moustached grin. It's been quite a while since I'd been in his company, but he'd light up a room with his presence ( if he wasn't blocking the light with his height) and humour. I feel so sad now. As everyone has said, he was a true gentleman. -
You're mixed up on the Grapevine release. Sam Williams-love slipped through my fingers is on one side with Towanda Barnes-you don't mean it on the other.

Gotta be leather soles for me. I have some jazz shoes (tiny heel, very thin leather sole and very soft leather. Very light) similar the the Da Vinci jazz shoes back in the early 80's. From Derby I think. Also an oxblood red leather brogue with a reasonably thin leather welted sole. Adds a bit more weight when on a normal night. The Jazz shoes are better for all nighters and weekenders. I do use talc if the floor is sticky (most of the time as clubs don't seem to care about the state of their dancefloors) as I like to shuffle and trip. Hopefully makes me dance better and makes my legs ache less and last longer. Como brogues were my shoe of choice back in the 70's, and I've searched high and low for modern copies. My mate Pete Cogley even tracked down the original manufacturers and asked them to make up a batch for him and others. The man from Como, he say no! Still searching.

Hi Barry he's cancelled the Ritz the night before, so is he really on? I'm up for it if he is. Andrew Love

When I saw the thread title i thought you were talking about the Other Brunswick single from Walter Jackson. This record could sum up your comments easily. I played it in the Jim Wray lounge a couple of Soul Essences ago and got some amazing comments from some of my peers. Most seemed to be unaware of its existence, possibly because it sits on the knife edge between Deep soul Ballad and frantic dancer. It's neither, yet both. Since then I've been seeing it on a few club playlists, like the marvellous Just Soul doo's in Retford. A proper soul record with light and shade. Also Clarence Mann with Mans Temptation. It's a dancer! Who knew. More importantly is a fantastic soul record that would put to shame many overplayed classics. So if they're playing records like those two out then I'm in agreement with you there. We Never Had it So Good. Just need the handbag soulies to get into them too!

Any time spent in Ricks company was a joy. I was saddened when he excused himself from the club scene, but understood why. If anyone deserves good luck it's Rick. Get better soon old bean. Best wishes Andy Love

Can't read that, Daz!

So gutted to lose my mate Keith from Earlestown. Didn't really realise how many peoples lives he had touched over the years until I started reading all the posts and comments on the internet. First met in 1975, never forgotten. Andrew Love (Keith Brady fan club)

The Ritz was the melting pot that brought all the musical strands together in one room. Plus the baggy trousers mixed with the peg tops and all was good with the world. I favoured jodhpurs and a tom mix check cowboy shirt around Mikes 1977 timeline, before moving on to my Dads wedding suit with white shoes. All nighters though needed something less dressy. Me and my mates would try and go everywhere whatever they played, as long as it was good. Nowadays I can chin stroke with the best of them, not to mention boogie and shuffle, but stomping less so thanks to 57 yr old lungs and a sore left heel. Andrew Love

There's two yearly events that encompass that style of music. The Mecca reunion at The Swallow in Salmesbury later on in the year (playing anything that was played at the Mecca- from sixties northern soul early on to the brand new releases of the day and all points in between. Apart from Colin Curtis playing requests, no record has been repeated over it's four years, by the other three djs. Also there's a Cassinelli's reunion. 2nd one next month at its original venue now called The Almond Brook Hotel, Standish, near Wigan. New releases from 78 to 83. Both highly recommended. Not missed one yet!

Now you've changed it, it's great. Trying to read overly cursive script is a nightmare even when increasing the screen size and I soon gave up.
