  1. Records for sale. All are spares, doubles or even triples. I bought them to upgrade my own copies, or because they're just too good to be left behind. UK SALES ONLY. All Vg+ and above. There doesn't appear to be such a thing as a mint record, even with new releases. There will be some noise or crackles at the start and end of most records. There may be slight warps, there may be some background noise in quieter passages with the odd pops and clicks. You will find some marks on the vinyl: paper scuffs and light scratches plus some wear, sticker marks and writing the labels. There will be no jumps or skips or any major degradation to the sound quality. Quite a few of these records will be near mint, either part, most of the way or all the way through. Payable by bank transfer, PayPal f & f, or, if you don't know me add 4 per cent. All records security marked, photographed and filmed to prevent false claims. Seller not responsible for postal losses if adequate insurance is not taken out. Payment required within three days, or will be put back for sale again. 2. Swamp Dogg produced this album on his Mankind label. Go to the Sir Shambling Deep Soul website and look for Pete Nikols article for more info, about half way down.
  3. There's one more thing to worry about, and keep me awake at night besides nuclear armaggedon, brexit, old age, and dementia. It's missing the very narrow time frame to get the next Digging Deep release!
  4. Two issues in (when 002 arrives) and I'm hooked, as you knew I would be! Looking forward to the Quinvey tracks, and fingers crossed, the Paul Kelly masterpiece. You replied to a Bernadette Bascombe conversation a short while ago. Is it gonna be one of your releases? I'd dearly love to see Sad Honored Night by Eddie Finlay get a UK issue. Is that a potential Digging Deep release? All the best to you and Kev, Andrew Love
  5. Dean has gone. He has left us a legacy of music and wit. A path that once started, we can never quite manage to deviate from. My favourite teacher of tunes, my tutor in wit. My friend, that although I didn't see him as often as I should, catching up was just a greeting away. There are many reminders of Dean at my house, in records I've bought off him, or been recommended by him. Articles in magazines written by him, flyers of doo's featuring him. Comments on my laptop by him, and also pictures of him. But most of all I cherish those weekdays when I was on my day off and chose to spend it at expansion records, in his company, talking about life and more importantly music! Parkers was probably my favourite club with early arrival essential to get Dean in his element, playing records he knew he wouldn't get away with playing later on, or indeed at most other clubs. One night he dropped Sebastian Williams-Get Your Point Over for the first time, for me anyway, and I just had to have it. Those Horns, the pathos in his voice and the story. Asking about it the following week in the shop, he was adamant he hadn't played it, but had played the flipside instead I Don't Care What Mama Said. That argument was re-visited down the years with the same outcome. So now I'll pay my last respects up in the hills, and later I'll dig out the kindle and have another crack at his book about record collecting in space.
  6. Richard Searling played it out back in the day, Also Soul Sam.
  7. Not even a label to help identify record.
  8. Which Jack Montgomery?
  9. Hi Glyn Is this still available? If so, and it includes concerts I'll take it! Cheers Andrew Love
  10. And then there's Southside Movement- Do It To Me "I'm on fire when I see you dance, my love for you just busts my pants". And of course The Exciters on Blowing up my mind- "eating beans by the pound, and wrapping up in adhesive tape from the waist down"
  11. Sent pm for Bobby Taylor
  12. Free?
  13. £30 plus £2.50 post in the uk
  14. Don't usually comment on sales lists but the Patti Austin-are you ready for love 'b' side is written by Paul Mitchell and not Phillip Mitchell. So many people get it wrong. Great track, great double-sider! Buy it now!
  15. Pm'd you
  16. What price on the Black Velvet?
  17. Great news LANC1971. I was wondering if you'd taken my advice. Mel Britt is one of my favourite oldies. Quite a tricky rolling beat to it, although when the vocals kick in it sends you on a journey into paradise.
  18. Hi Ian met Dave Nowell at the Casino mid 70's. we used to call him Immaculate Dave, because that was his favourite phrase. Kept in touch over the years, and when he was writing his book he asked me for some comments on the scene at the time, and about my magazine Love Music Review. i sent him a long email, and when the book came out, the email was there in its entirety. That was a surprise, a nice one though.
  19. Just re-read your first post LANC1971 and I spotted something I missed before. You implied you'd never been to a NS venue before. Get yourself to one asap. Some music can be appreciated via vinyl, cd's and online. Not so Northern Soul. you need to be at the frontline. Whether dancing or listening, with mates or on your own. it will blow your mind!!! Get to Lowton Civic next Friday night, £7 on the door. May will take your money, and Rob Haigh will probably be next to her. Say hello and tell him it's your first NS night, and Andy Love recommended you came here first. Rob is on here, as is Barry Maleady the promoter for Lowton. A friendlier bunch you couldn't ask for. Apart from the friendly crowd, and the great music, the star is the big dancefloor and high ceiling. Your music at home will never sound the same again!
  20. When I first got into the music in the early 70's we didn't have YouTube or smartphones, we just went to the venues, stood on the edge of the dancefloor and watched. You then went home, found a full length mirror and tried out a few moves. Back to the club, edge of the floor, and steeled yourself to take that first step. Once you did you were swallowed up in the music, the rumbling bass, the gyrating words spiralling through the air and into your ears. After that nothing really mattered, least of all what others thought of your moves. if you sneaked a peak at the other dancers, you'd see they were lost in their own thing too. The dance styles of today, to my eyes, seem very formulated, do a little shuffle thing that looks like you're polishing the floor with each foot, quite tamely , and if you do the acrobatics then everything else is just marking time till the backdrop, the kick and the spin. I'd always prefer the feet being led by the rhythm, and everything else led by the soul. Anything else was an accent, a highpoint in the song, but not the main part of your performance. Just be glad you don't want to dance to the fierce jazz fusion/samba/Latin grooves of the 80's. now that was competitive!
