chalky, I spoke with Deneen Wednesday night, the 16th. August was asleep, as it was one o'clock in the morning their time. I guess we're getting old. Anyway, Deneen wants me to proceed with a website I had cooked up a few years back, when there was supposed to be a huge Las Vegas Northern Soul event. At the time, I had the opening page of the site up, but I was really busy trying to negotiate an August and Deneen appearance at that event, so the website sort of faded away. For some time after that, we were kind of disappointed at how the Las Vegas event fell through and we just didn't do anything. Looks like I now have to find some good website help.

Yes there was talk and things were set in motion for a huge northern soul event in Vegas, i know because i had booked, but alas it all fell through, not enough interest created, for me it would have been the events of all event, hope they arrange another one.

A fastenating insight in to what was and for me still is a great record that made it on to the northern soul scene, i danced to it in my youth and i still dance to it in my 50s.

I've always assumed if they say nowt then it's original they want, they usually say if not bothered what label.

I happened - yet again - to catch the POG show , which featured Jerry Hall .......

I will give him his due , he again milked the WC bit , when asking her about Studio 54 , he interjected before she could get a word in , stating that WC was " our " version of said emprium ......

I am not disputing that he went to WC , but did anyone know him - especially the Liverpool crowd who frequented the venue -back then ? I would be very interested in their feedback .........

I never saw him, dont think you could have missed with that mop of ginger hair, some people say they went to wigan, once does`nt really count, the only person i remember seeing at wigan was kevin rowland.

I'm also interested but are those people on this forum? What throws me is why a "soulie" has a pink punk haircut. Also back in the day it was unheard of to have the word Northern on patchs, clothing etc. When did it become acceptable to have stickers in the back of cars saying "Northern Soul - A Way of Life". IMHO that was and still is the sign of a div, which brings me back to our pink haired chum's T Shirt !

That soulie as you call him is sandy holt, casino dance champion, which was over 30 years ago, sandy will always have love for the scene, whats the colour of his hair got to do with it, and also he is still a great dancer , and a champion kick boxer, so never judge a book by its cover.

As for the program the best bit was pog talking to sandy and the girls, as someone said in a past post, i was about the music, the friendship, there was and will never be another place like it for me, but that was in my era 1976 a 15 year old teenager. I remember the slightly older crowd at wigan, the crowds from the torch, mecca and various other places looking at the younger people on the scene and commenting f.....g kids cant dance, been on the scene 5 minutes think they know it all, and the music at wigan in the 70s was crap, not for me it was`nt i was 14/15 it was all new to me i f.....g loved it, still do always will, but guess what its come full circle, i was starting to say the same thing about the young ones to day, cant dance, whats this record its crap, i know some people get pissed off with the scene, no one more so than me some times, but just enjoy it while you can, and lets all enjoy it together just like it has always been.

I just got back, I left early cos that's exactly what happened...................NOTHING!!!

Went over yesterday already and spent 4 and half hours watching the same 30 seconds being shot over and over (without being used as an extra)! Went back today and watched the same 30 seconds again...........................and still no "extras dancing" action, just standing around watching or standing around in a crowd scene...............but no dancing whatsoever and no music, so was bored out my mind most of the time. The only good bit was watching the authentic old timers doing their moves at the back and wishing I was at a proper allniter/soulnite. Wont be going to the 'recall' tomorrow.

Oh well, one lives and learns..........
