  1. Barbara lynn, virtually every record is superb. Rob
  2. I don't know about the reason it was released on Verve, but the one on Ebay yesterday is only the 3rd one I've seen, and the other 2 were in poor condition. I set my snipe at $151 and I was a pathetic 3rd. Anybody got one ? I need it to complete my Verve collection ( and about 10 others). Rob
  3. Hi Just had an e-mail stating that all of their cases are half price until the 9th August. I've just bought 3 x 200 single boxes for £27.50 each. Bargain!! Rob
  4. I have one of the Teac LPP1000 which I bought for almost £400 in May of this year. It has excellent sound and is decent quality. I'm using it to play my records that I am cataloguing. It is not as good as separates though. The lever that lowers the tone arm is a bit feeble and the radio isn't DAB, other than that it is very good. The ones on offer at £248 seem a real bargain, I wish I had waited 6 months. Rob Ps: It is Bluetooth enabled, so you can play tunes off your phone if you want.
  5. I have a mint copy of this (not for sale), It came in a £1 soul pack along with Connie Laverne 'can't live without you. That pack must have been one of the best bargains of all time. Rob
  6. There are 2 Sylves prices in the guide. £30 for the Chess distributed and £40 for the bars design. If you are lucky you can sometimes get them at those prices. Rob
  7. Stock copies do exist. I don't think this is particularly rare and is listed at £20 in Manships guide. Having said that I've been collecting Verve for years and only seen a vg- stock copy. Rob
  8. Yes, I know that, but it was also released on verve no 10609. Thanks Rob
  9. Need these 2 for my collection Andre Williams-Do It- Wingate 021 (stock copy preferred) Porgy & Monarchs- That's my girl - Verve 10609 Must be excellent or better. Many thanks Rob
  10. Can anybody confirm that this Is WDJ only (according to Discogs). I could swear I saw a stock copy for sale last year but didn't buy as it was only VG-. Thanks Rob
  11. I see that this goes for about £200 now. Does anyone know why?. I know it has been sampled a few times. Anyone got one for Manships guide of £20 !!! Rob
  12. Mine is No 338 same as in post number 52. Looks like there are already more than 500 in existence!!! Rob
  13. Sorry if this has been mentioned before. I've just finished reading 'Always magic in the air' by Ken Emerson a book about New Yorks Brill building writers from the 60's. Although not strictly about Soul there are hundreds of references to our heroes. A highly recommended book and I got my copy for only £2 from Bibleophile. Rob

  15. What do you think of this incredible piece of music written by Donnie Elbert. A truly stunning vocal. Just bought one from Manships for only £10 Rob
  16. Anybody know when this was recorded? It sounds very early and I can't see it in his Discography. Thanks Rob
  17. Had this record for years, but only just heard it - really like it too. Has it ever been played out? Rob
  18. Just had my first ever Customs charge. Record cost $167 and I asked the vendor to declare a nominal value, which he declared at $47. It cost me £14 in charges. The only good thing about it was that I paid online Weds night and it arrived this morning. Rob
  19. Does anyone know anything about this record. Is it the same Fantaisions on Satellite?. There are none listed on Popsike and is in Manships guide at £850. I need one to finish off the run on Thomas but not at that price!! Rob
  20. Thanks, that explains a lot. I wonder what else of interest is in the vaults.
  21. Looks like the Seller who has access to the FAME vaults and has been selling loads of George Jackson on Verve now has a quantity of Art Freeman and others. https://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649 Rob
  22. Bobby Hebb - Sunny. Briiliant Album. Rob
  23. Does anyone know the history of this one- did it come out before or after the Embers. It's a decent version and a cheapie too. Rob
  24. A very enjoyable show Bob. I had forgotten just how great The Linda Jones is - and a real cheapie as well. Rob
