I've finished the ironing now dear. Would you like another coffee, whilst you listen to your playlist ?
If you look at the bottom of your details on each post (On the left hand side) you'll see a little icon that signifies your playlist.
Click on it.
I don't know, ironing, coffee making, PC consultant, are there no limits to my abilities
thank you Dave, i will try that. I didn't want to disturb you, i know you need all the practice you can get with the ironing yes to the coffee.

NS Weekenders .....
What was the first one ?
Having attended the first night of / for the latest installment of Dave Raistrick's Skegness Weekender ( Thanks again , Dave - another successfull event ; a credit to you ) .....
Now an essential part of the NS social / scene calendar , It seems that these events have been around since Adam was a lad , but what was the first weekender to be held ?
Malc Burton
I have vague memories of there being a weekend/week in Majorca back in the Seventies. I didn't go, but remember it being advertised, so I guess that would be the first.
Great Yarmouth was the first Northern weekender I remember over here, and that was '89, but the Jazz Funk / Dance / modern weekenders had been running for ages before that at places like Caister (May be wrong here not being into that sort of scene)

Yep, that confirms you as totally nuts like the rest of us

i must be totally nuts to even consider becoming one of you lot , but then again i don't think you could find a friendlier bunch of people on any other scene

Am I a true Soulie
About 3 years ago someone told me I wasn't a Soulie because I didn't go to Wigan or any of the old legendry places associated with northern soul, and the fact that I have been going to weekenders and soul nights for the last 15+ years did not make me a Soulie,
Then this morning one of my sons Tony said "mom you've turned into a proper Soulie"
Then the conversation went like this
Me "No I'm not"
Tony "You are, do you go to soul do's every weekend?"
Me "Yes"
Tony "Do you love listening to the music?"
Me "Yes"
Tony "Do you enjoy dancing to the music?"
Me "Yes"
Tony "You are a Soulie"
So am I a Soulie ?
For me its not where you have been or how long you have been going, its how you feel when you are there that makes you a true Soulie

Is it Regent or Regency Dave?
I never knew about where the name 'Empress' & 'Empire' came from, I have learnt something new today though very Regal! sounding names.
Ooops! Sorry Wendy the Empress is not a niter though you never know in the future!
That's it. Regency. I suppose at one time nearly every town had an Empress, Empire, or Regency club, most of them have gone now though.
