  1. I think it's a bit weird that soul source once again falls to bickering amongst itself about a film none of us have seen yet. I don't know Elaine but do know some of the young 'uns who have been involved in the film and who have told me about the lengths that she has gone to in order to make it authentic. She's made a film about something that has been part of my life for 30+ years. When it comes out, I hope I love it. I expect I will. Even if I don't, I will be very grateful that she tried so hard.
  2. None taken. I remember Dulcimer in its previous incarnation as Quarmbys when I used to buy records there in the 60's.
  3. Think you're way off there mate. I have been going to Highfield since they started and have seen Jordan, Ben and Danny dj elsewhere too. I love their full on enthusiasm and their amazing and ever increasing knowledge of the music. So they dress a bit seventies. They're happy, what harm does it do? If not for them, who'll be on the floor in 20 years time?
  4. I thought it was well put together. I though Paul Mason emerged from it with great credit. Nice contributions from DJ's from one end of the age spectrum to the other - Richard Searling to Jordan Wilson. I'm increasingly optimistic about Elaine's film too.

  6. With a line up including Eddie Floyd, Eddie Holman and Little Anthony and a quarter of an hour's drive from my house? No brainer!
  7. The Kent LP's expanded my areas of interest in the 80's and every album introduced me to something I didn't know. I am the proud owner of a full set and love them all. Ady influenced my love of soul as much as Roger Eagle, Richard Searling and my mate Dave. I can't speak highly enough of him! Genuine hero!

  9. Bloody fantastic Tim. Thanks for sharing those. Cheers John
  10. Absolutely. I have now augmented my SWONS VHS with a well spent sixteen quidsworth and they gave me a free £1 download credit. Can't complain...
  11. Enough of them seem to have survived for Amazon to have it available for £15.89

  16. I loved the Carousel Nighters. Nice big dance floor and a balcony. Remember both Richard and Russ being very approachable and happy to chat there. Happy memories of seeing Gil Scott Heron and Bobby Womack performing live there too.
  17. Absolutely great news. Bloody well done Goldsoul! Blackburn for me...
  18. Me too. Very nice. Hot day always leads to the same song in our house = William De Vaughn - Be Thankful for What You Got. Nice to have the Tom Moulton mix now.
  19. 20. Thanks for posting that Dave, it's very helpful.
  21. Laughing very hard indeed at that.
  22. Blimey! Just had a listen to the edits on Youtube. Pre-ordered on Amazon. I really can't wait for this. What an incredible list of tracks! Great work again from Harmless. Cheers John
  23. I'm yet again knocked out by Backbeats. I've listened to five of them so far and may not get to the others for some time as I keep replaying Dance Floor Revolution and Crossover to Soul. Top work by Ian on the series once more and a big hand to Ian and Sean for the aforementioned stunning compilations! Can't wait for the next installment. Cheers John
  24. Always loved Move On Up. Completely uplifting! I've never been one for instrumental solos of any kind but, whenever I saw Curtis live, Master Henry Gibson's percussion solo in Move On Up was a total highlight.
  25. Started listening and buying records regularly in '72, found out it was "Northern Soul" in '73. A bit later, a lad from school (not a soulie ) got a job in Global Records and the buying got a bit compulsive.
