  1. Great memories of the Pembroke club from my time in the Navy. And that album " This is Soul". Mass produced but in the 6o's was the album to have. Jo, think I had left the Navy when you started going to the Pembroke.
  2. Chubby & Turnpikes I did'nt know the inside story/I did'nt try
  3. Looks more like Sean Chapman than Sean Chapman
  4. Family have seen the Utube video and one word describes their reaction "WOW". Bear in mind that the Northern Scene is new to a lot of Americans and others not even aware of it. Appreciate likes Of Des Parker taking it over to them in the likes of Pittsburgh.
  5. Gene , will do and yes its the same record on Rampart. Russ and family are delighted, well thats an understatement, with the response to Arthurs(Arts) record.
  6. Mark, sorry to hear that as enjoyed listening to your sounds, maybe a bit late on a sunday night and not able to do a sky + thing on starpoint, so only gain is earlier to bed on sundays. Good luck Mark
  7. Also: David, Reuben and Art were all involved in all of the cuts of the record as well as the flip "girl of my dreams". They were all brotherds. The family are really chuffed about the interest in the record and I am in regular contact with Russ. Regrettably Art passed away , aged 56 in 1997. A great shame he not see the interest in his record. I will be doing an article for Dave Moore in TTB early 2009 on the Majestics, especially this song.
  8. Thanks Mike. cannot understand re photo clarity as they are ok my end on my files. Also came out ok last time you did it.
  9. A good argument for playlists is this E Mail I have received from A guy in the States. See thread on the MAJESTICS. However, i have limited the amount and when I put them onto my web$site, etc. I noticed you guys play this song and have it on a few play lists. The Majestics was my Dad''s band, Art Robles who also wrote and sang the song. It is amazing to me that it is being played today in places all the way over in England. I just wanted to say hello adn hope you continue playing his song whic h he wrote about my Mom. If you have any video o fmy Dad''s song being played in a venue I woudl love to be able to see it on line somehow. Perhaps on YouTube or some other site. Please let me know if there is something out there like this as the rest of my family woudl love to see it too I am sure. > > Thanks again and God bless you! > > Russ Robles
  10. I will have to clarify that with him but I think they were a separate band.
  11. David and Reuben were his uncles.
  12. Below is a E Mail I have just received from Russ Robles, who is the son of Art Robles who wrote I love her so much. It was nice that he found some of the playlists on my website. And how nice and moving. I noticed you guys play this song and have it on a few play lists. The Majestics was my Dad''s band, Art Robles who also wrote and sang the song. 13. Well maybe that was the odd one then and he was thinking about the money he was going to make
  14. Been told that he not package the records up very well, specially for such a valuable record.Piece of newspaper wrapped around with a piece of sellotape, I have it on good authority
  15. Jon just sent you a PM. Am happy to do you a copy onto CD
  16. Have the 45" in mint condition. Beautiful looking record and label. Selling it in new year. PM me if you interested.
  17. A Realistic good price' to a 'good friend' - £1800. IMHO Anyway thats for starters. See what others think?
  18. Just looked at the price guides. Not realised it gone up in price to that extent. Think I better hang onto mine.
  19. Should not be hard to get hold of. Try Ebay or Gemm.
  20. I know its on Dave Godin's.'Deep soul treasures'taken from the vaults, vol 4. I got it and the original on 7". If you get a problem, PM me and I will copy it onto a cd for you.
  21. Should have added a 20 minute walk from railway station
  22. Riversidesoul on outskits of Gloucester couple of miles off M5 and on outskirts of City. It has next soul night on 19th December or a Motown and Atlantic/Stax nite tonight. We get people from up your way coming down. see www.riversidesoul.co.uk
  23. I know people who spent £1000+ on one in past. Don't think they would find this happy reading. Suppose we will have to wait and see how many this guy does have after all. 100 sounds a bit high to me. IMO
  24. Looks like my initial figure of £600 as about right. The law of supply and demand ain't wong
  25. I reckon its gotta be down to around £600 now, thats half of what Tim Brown has it listed for
