  4. The Jaedes, who recorded a hard to get LP on Athena. Pick of the tunes for me are: What'll it take to make you happy, Uh, Uh, what did I do and another version of Colour him father'. Think the only one from the album thats been released on 45 is Uh, Uh ............ Mike
  5. Dave, Yes, first time I heard this was at SHS. THink Stuart played it early on. Mike
  6. I played Tammi and ' Come on and see me' at Gloucester allnighter last night to a packed floor and applause at the end. It followed the Moments, Velours, Betty Loyd, etc. Went down a treat and not first time i dropped it into a set with great response. A truly great artiste. RIP.
  7. Agree, it took me over a year to find one and then after buying one another turns up on Ebay. Quite hard but turns up from time to time.
  8. Paul, I agree. At one of my last events I had 2 well known DJ's who left and could not be even bothered to say night. Not expect any thanks but common courtesy costs owt. Look forward to having you up here soom mate.
  9. I have one but its probably Sowewhere around EX-.
  10. I have one and sending you a PM.
  11. Rate it very highly and when I played it out earlier this year it packed the floor. Very classy and for me better than the Spinners , although thats good in itself. Just goes to show how good the Georgie Fame version is. Being a 1960's lad saw Georgie a lot and with the blue fames backing him, very good indeed. Roots in our music and only goes to show lots of things were happening before Wigan et al.

My 2 venues(Riverside and Gloucester Allnighter) are OVO venues but as the Promoter I have said on my Website and if anyone asks me that Kent issues/reissues are an exception. Yes, Salt and Pepper is ok. Not just because I have it on Kent:lol:
  13. Much appreciated too Mike

  17. Willie Hutch When Love runs out Dunhill Demo Condition VG++ . If not happy then a refund upon return Best offer near to £700 invited.
  18. I cannot accept that. I find that comment well over the mark and would be helpful if you got your facts right.Lowton moved their date from the week before and Groovesville was not on when i checked the dates to my knowledge. Wilton is opposite side of the country. The event in Dudley appeared suddenly to me. So it would be ok if I was limping along too would it.Think by sounds of it you think I should not be doing anything. Sorry to disappoint you in all.
  19. I am now moving on from this thread as enough has been said. As I have said above ,others know where I am and I will select my dates best way I can taking all things into account and hoping to avoid any clashes but cannot guarantee that will always be the case. Mike
  20. John Yes, but I not only player in this. Anyway you were spoilt for choice and no doubt you selected well. Mike
  21. Mace And of course other Promoters can come and ask me for my future dates. They not been exactly rushing to do so. Nice that in a way my promotion is seen as offering something to be taken into account. The responsibility goes both ways and as i have said earlier I not have a great deal of flexibility and will have to do the best that I can under the circumstances. I will do my best to avoid local/regional clashes but I am not the only player in this and others can avoid my dates if they wish. I have not as far as I am aware been complaining openly about Room 2 but merely responding to the relevent posts as I feel they needed to be commented on by me. Was not aware of your conversation with Des and the mystery guest. I think this matter is perhaps better discussed via PM rather than an open forum. regards Mike
  22. Hi Mace Many thanks for your comments and what you say is correct. Good idea re maybe dropping room 2 on the occassional date that it is clearly unavoidable to clash with another similar event. I certainly do look at what is on elsewhere and am limited in scope for dates as there is so much on everywhere. In planning I have to look at likes of Lifeline, Rugby and other nighters within , say a 100 mile radius. Then there are the soul nights which keep increasing everywhere. So, yes I look at what is on when i plan my dates but , as you say am bound to come up against another event somewhere. Its then a question of not clashing, or trying to with the events in the radius area I mentioned above. Re last friday. We were not 160 below. It was nearer 90. Looking at the various posts on the events thread I noticed that people from my previous event were going to Bidds(saturday), Groovesville, Lowton and Wilton. And then up popped another gig an hours drive away, where no doubt we lost a few. There were other events which no doubt had an impact on main room. Like you I am aware of the negative impact that travellers may have if they have heard of a quiet night somewhere. You got over that so i understand last weekend from your previous one. I hope for the same and will try to maintain a positive stance. It is not my responsibility to change my dates when someone later books a soul event subsequently. I do not have that flexibility, in any case for the reasons given above and the venue I use has other types of bookings throughout the year. Bottom line is I can always run a room event if it not work out and its up to the public to support it or lose it. All likes of you and I can do is put it on and hope that we are supported. Best Regards Mike
  23. Hi Phil Not necessarily. The music in the main room as has been said by likes of Mark freeman and Dean a great mix and in no way an oldies cheesefest. I know for a fact that Ginger Taylor loved playing in it as he was really able to push the boundaries to a very appreciable crowd. The same goes for the majority of the DJ's. Because of this and has been maybe touched on by some, a lot of folk stayed in Main room. Hope that explains it Phil. Mike
