Pied Piper - Follow Your Soul - Kent Cd - Out Now
Bossfourpart1 commented on Chalky's article in News Archives
Bought a copy of this CD off Roger Banks at Cleethorpes and saved it for the journey home. This was the quickest drive home from Cleggy i can remember , quality all the way. I like the odd Fuzz guitar cutting in on some of the tunes , nice touch. Totally recommend this CD as a must have. Keep them coming .... -

Welldone Djs, Glad to see the Hearbreakers getting some airtime, great tune. It was a great night in a surprisingly good venue. Did the Priests wake up ? regards Frank -
"Early in the morning crawling out of last Night" Otis Lee -Hard row to hoe Normally hum this as i'm leaving the all-nighters at 6am. Gerri granger - i go to pieces , this has a good match of lyrics n tune... remember the UK sleeve having the lyrics on it

At Norwich Backstreet gigs we've found that people hold back from going on the dance floor if its too bright. I guess they feel too exposed ,when all they want to do is groove to the tunes. Unfortunately some venues don't have much flexibility with their lighting its either On or Off. All the best gigs i remember were dark dance floor set-ups. One Allnighter at the UEA in Norwich we had to put Bin bags over the windows as the daylight at 03.30am was coming through lighting up the venue. (Professor T you remember). I agree keep them dark ! Thanks Pete, I have a few Green light label pieces and the SoulSounds releases which were picked up in the early 80ts, so makes sense being pressed earlier . Does anyone on here actually have a definitive list of these boot releases ? Like it not these boots are part of the early scene and any details that have not been recorded "numbers released when ?how many" could be captured here for the first time. Today new Boot pressing seems to be a daily occurance! At least the early ones have some history to those early days... The Lainie Hill on Newvoice always makes me smile with the bubbles under the label !! I do have a couple of Demand labelled tunes -sensitive mind and a couple of others. Could it be that some original tunes out number the early Bootlegs ? Perhaps one day when interest in these early Boots picks up this topic may become of interest again. (Unless some canny Soulies out there are already collecting them on the quiet). KFT Frank

When did the Joe Mathews on Koolkat get pressed ? Year ? Also , unissued material whether from master tapes or from an acetate , if these are not licensed are they not Boots ? or is this falling into another legal domain ? Giving good unheard tunes exposure fuels the scene doesn't it. I have a copy of Peanut duck - on Joker from the 80ts which has been mentioned on here before..which i really like, how many of these were done ? . Does anyone recall what was the first tune to be booted ?

NCFC, the adds normally go on the events pages and Mark does a bit on Face B.... I guess Mark could put them up on here earlier providing the booking is confirmed. Mark does push flyers out at other local events as well as national allnighters which we all help with !! To be honest we all miss the odd gig but that makes you more switched on for the next one. Mark , can you plug the next gig dates on this feedback page to help. I know the next gig i'm doing at the Talk will be 20th June . regards Frank

Hi Simon , thanks for the reply, yes I think this thread has some depth. It would seem that the "DNA" of a young soulie buying records would lean towards Bootlegs as they would have more access to them locally. To be honest i can still remember where i bought most of my tunes ! "sad". In amongst those early days of searching i actually found an original mint copy of Sam Dees -Lonely FYB- SS7 in amongst loads of mint pressings and I put it back as i thought it was a boot !! AAAHHH.. I guess like it or not they are part of the scene and gave Soulies a piece of vinyl to take home. all the best Frank

Apologies if this has been covered before ! This is aimed at Records Bootleg'd in 70ts, . (when the scene was thriving and demand was high ).(60ts might be too early, 80ts too late ) I have not got the JM guide as a reference so i do not know whether the numbers pressed were referenced ? great or small 100's or 500's. Anyone involved in these pressings could give a hint. Were their pressing dates recorded ? Do you think Bootlegs from those era's have any historical value ? Do the look a like labelled boots have more value ? Whats the rarest boot ? In the 80ts when i was looking through racks of records in local secondhand record shops there wasn't any guide as to what was original or boot hence i guess alot of people have boots in their collection.Sometimes you struck lucky and picked up a good tune. I guess alot of young soulies during the Peak scene years didn't have the funds to buy the originals. Just thinking out loud at 03.30am. any info would be great . cheers Frank

New Cd Out Monday Same Old Same Old
Bossfourpart1 replied to Mickjay33's topic in All About the SOUL
Just saw the advert for the first time tonight . I did a double take as i still can't get used to elements of the scene being on daytime TV, immediately I started to cringe but then let it run its course and thought "Nice one " ! Leanna certainly championed the screen and as said by Dean , its aimed at a younger / new audience. 40000 sales . wow ,theres got to be some interest coming from those customers in the near future. New blood ! bring it on... To be honest there can't be many scenes out there that are evading Cameras and the Media, so we may as well accept it and make the most of it. KTF. Frank Like the Curtis Lee, " Thumping tune " -
I have the Pink copy 1011B , this has the mouth organ overlaid through the track , which i like ! My mates got the Light blue "simple " version take which i would class as "Pure". Both versions are very good , don't hear either of these out anymore. Time to spin them again..

Got to say Karen Crane from Norfolk has a mean play list when shes on the decks. Did quite a few spots at the Backstreet over the years. Best of all she won't sell her records , always a good sign.

I was just playing these tunes the other night . I prefer Why listen but like the Pain tune all the same. Such a shame in the read up that talent gets done over by the corporate Giants again.

Nye Ns Celebration - London: Flynny Playlist
Bossfourpart1 replied to Anoraks Corner's topic in Event Playlists - Reviews
Nice catching up with you again Dave, It was worth the trip just to hear the Prophets played out loud , brilliant tune. Take care fo those records ...(hand luggage only ). A.T.B. Frank -
Some dancers use Martial art moves in their dancing and it shows, but these must have been incorperated in the style after the influence of Movies like "Enter the dragon" (1973 ). I guess alot of kids took up Martial arts and found the NS scene shortly after that. I should imagine the earlier NS scene was inspired by alot of other styles , especially Jazz.(as mentioned earlier ) I've seen some early footage (on TV ) from the States of young Black kids dancing on street corners, busking for money (1950 's). Those moves seem more relevent than alot of other dance styles. The various NS dance styles out there are a mixture of many types of dance moves , I guess we adopt the style that best suits our own physical capabilities. Mines down to a shuffle now !
